Health Concerns 3 years, 11 months agoThis super good boy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last month and has been on the struggle bus since. Last week we made the decision that we will be putting him to rest on October 1st (As my son wants him in his senior pictures first) and I am so not looking forward to that day. He’s only 10 and I was so sure I’d have more time with him! Life has been quite sad since the diagnosis, but I am soaking up every moment with him until his time is here. I referred to him as my “puppy immersion therapy” when we adopted him and he has been there for me in innumerable ways. My heart is just in a million pieces over all this. Glad a coworker recommended this group. Any kind words would be very welcomed.

Celebrate 3 years, 11 months agoThese babies are my children. It is a joy and gift to have them in my life. They keep me going and put a daily smile on my face. Each one has such a character all their own. So sweet and sensitive, especially my husky Brinley.
-
OH MY DAWG … What fabulous pups, Melinda. I can see so much personality in their eyes. It’s so good of you to share your home and heart, so good for YOU to have them in your life. This is just wonderful, and thank you for sharing their stories and photos. We always like more :-). Don’t tell anyone, but we’ll be asking for cute costumes in October … just sayin’…Toni

Celebrate 3 years, 11 months agoMira and Addie are two of Ava’s (whom I lost a year ago in April. She is the all black one in the picture) daughters. They will be 9 in October. Otto is the father. He is my first shepherd. He will be 12 in November. Brinley is another rescue, just like Ava. He will be approximately 7 in September. I don’t really have any info on him. His Gotcha Day is his birthday. September 19th. -

Remember 3 years, 11 months agoToday was National Black Cat Appreciation Day. Not one friend or family member remembered my Nicholas. I was on the phone for a hour with a friend who also has a black cat and all she talked about was the husband she is planning to divorce. When I got off the phone, I felt the deep sense of alienation again from everyone I have feeling since Nicholas died suddenly before Christmas on 12/12/21. There was a lot of trauma surrounding his death because of the way Nicholas and I was treated by the last ER vet who saw him. Nicholas did not receive the appropriate medical care. I also recently found that that he had been misdiagnosed which has only compounded my grief, as I struggled to get him the right medical help during the pandemic. I lost my best friend and soul kitty. Not one friend or family member remembered my Nicholas. I was on the phone for a hour with a friend who also has a black cat and all she talked about was the husband she is planning to divorce. When I got off the phone, I I feel no one understands nor do they care how significant of a loss this is me. I just wanted to share my boy with people who love and miss their pets because his life mattered. Thank you for listening.-
Oh no, Diana, while we didn’t know Nicholas, we certainly feel your pain and loss. He looks so much like my Beauty Girl to whom I said goodbye in February, miss every day, and am so happy I got to share a life with….. Not everyone understands the depth and strength of our relationships – but we do in this community, and I am very sorry for your loss, and very happy for all the joy and comfort and fun you and Nicholas shared. We’ll be your “furry family” 🙂
-
Thank you, Toni for your compassionate response. I am so sorry that your lost your Beauty Girl. Black cats are the most special of kitties and their absence creates such a void. Nicholas was the sweetest, most loving boy. He loved everybody and everybody loved him.
-
How nice of you, Diana. You can see my girls’ pictures here: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/beauty-girl/
She was getting ‘cat’upuncture in the third photo. It helped stimulate blood flow to her kidneys. She was such a cool cat – you could do anything to her (which was FOR her), but she was almost 18 when it really was time to let her peacefully pass. I had a canvas picture made of her that I talk to and pet every day.

I will be opening my home and heart to another soon, I hope. There are so many loving animals that deserve loving homes. Keep us posted on how you are doing, Diana. {{HUG}} Toni -

Remember 3 years, 11 months agoThis was my Ava Nika. She was born on July 28, 2009. She passed away April 21, 2021. She was a rescue of severe neglect and abuse. She was my shadow for eight years. A loving, sweet, and sensitive soul. She lives on in her daughter\’s Addie and Mira. She was a best friend to talk to, a snack and tv buddy. Once she found out what it was to be loved and how to play and be a dog, she thrived on play time, car rides and walks. She is so missed and loved, but will always be remembered, especially on her birthday. Her love, loyalty, and dedication will never be forgotten. She was and will always be my Princess. Thanks for adding her. This candle means a lot.💖🐾😊 -

Remember 4 years agoOn Tuesday Evening a UPS delivery man knocked on my door. To hand me a Box that contained Trinity\’s Paw print. From the Veterinary Emergency Group where on Wednesday we made the decision to put Trinity to Sleep. I was surprised! To get the Pawprint. I will treasure this Gift forever. Trinity was a Family Pet. But my son is the one whose mourning Trinity hard! We all miss and love Trinity to the Moon and Back.-
Here's a picture of trinity's Pawprint.

Here's Trinity a few months before she was put to Sleep.

Trinity was so beautiful, it brings a tear to know you had to part. The most generous, selfless, loving gesture we have to make is letting them go, to provide relief and release. It’s always what is best for them, and I hope you and your son will know that your final act of kindness, made with LOVE, was a gift for Trinity. The grief is deep and takes time to move through. I know you will comfort each other and that one day you will find smiles before tears with her memories. Right now, it hurts at a cellular level and you can shed your tears and share your feelings with us. I am so very sorry. Maybe this {{HUG}} will help just a bit. Toni

We love and miss you so much!-
Oh my goodness, what a darling. I am so, so sorry and know, even if it was the best for Trinity, your pain is deep and hurts like hell. It takes time to find smiles before tears with your memories, and you will, but it still hurts. Will you tell us about Trinity and your lives together? We’re here for you. {{HUGS}} Toni

Remember 4 years, 3 months agoI lost my baby Colt just 2 days ago. I rescued him from an abusive owner about 10 yrs ago. He was terrified of everything when I got him but became very comfortable once he knew he was safe and loved. He was so mellow and loved everyone but very protective of me, my grandkids and our home. Our home is so empty now without him but I know in my heart he is in a better place and free from pain and playing with his new friends across the Rainbow Bridge. He had a good life and brought so much joy to our lives. Until we meet again my sweet boy.. you\’ll always be in my heart ❤️-
Thinking about you ❤️
-
PRAYERS. I know my Tiger wasn’t a dog but was so much loved as a cat & he adopted me & we were together for 9 lovely yrs. I had to put him to sleep Dec. 2020.
-
Toni, I am so happy you think of the good parts and times with Colt. Even when it’s the right time to say goodbye, it does indeed leave an emptiness. What a handsome boy Colt was, and how good for you both to find each other. I lost my darling old girl in February, and quite unexpectedly now have a young, healthy, active boy – that has certainly filled the emptiness, and eased my grief. Perhaps one day you’ll want to open your home and heart to another. Please, scroll through the posts here and share you support with others. It really does mean so much to know we care. I look forward to hearing more from you, and about Colt.

.so sorry for ur loss. COLT was a beautiful doggie…

Remember 4 years, 5 months agoIt\’s been 24 hours since I lost my baby girl. I miss her so much. I love you, August.-
Christine, I was sick for a day after, but today is the fifth day and I am better – not purrrrfect, but better. I force myself not to think of her and that helps. I dedicate periods throughout the day to think of her and grieve, then do something to stay busy. We’re here for you so share with us as often as you need.
-
Christine, how are you doing now? Do you have someone with you, something to hold and pet?
-
Toni, I’m getting better. Spent some time looking through pictures I had of her. I realized that when I saw a picture of her and smiled and not teared up, things are going to be ok. My son and I have been talking about her and chuckling over her quirks. We plan on making a memorial collage for her and wants to put flowers on her grave. One day at a time, I guess. I hope you are doing better also.

Oh Darlene, I am so sorry for you all. It’s so hard to lose a beloved family member like Leo. Is he wearing a bowtie? What a cutie. There is such a conflict of intellectually knowing he is not suffering, and the absolute heartbreak of saying goodbye. It’s good you and Trixi are there to support each other. I hope you will find comfort. May we see more photos of Leo and Trixi? Keep us updated, please. {{HUGS}}

I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this loss. I’m sure that it is very hard on Trixi being without Leo. It’s good that you take her with you more. She really needs your extra attention right now. And it’s good that you have her to lean on as well. Animals grieve just like we do. Leo was absolutely adorable. Sending you prayers and healing thoughts. Can you post a picture of Trixi too? Sending her loving schritches.

Celebrate 4 years, 6 months agoWe have Renzo just over 6 months now. All they could tell us about him was his approx age of 1 1/2-2yrs old (best guess-timate) & that he came from Tennessee. We\’re not sure if he ever experienced winter/snow before, but here he is enjoying it to the fullest!-
So cute! My big puppy just had her first real snow days and she couldn’t get enough eating all the snow. She even started rolling in it 🤗.
-
Beautiful boy. Looks like he is waiting for you to throw the stick. 😊
-
Yes indeed, Renzo is waiting for me to throw the stick! Playing fetch is his favorite play time activity whether it’s a stick or a ball. He will literally fetch & retrieve all day long until you feel like your arm is falling out of its socket! He has nearly infinite energy!
-
Umm hmmm…. He is your personal trainer 🙂 I have fallen in love with him from these pictures, Randy. He is smart, sweet and energetic. I just feel something from him, as I am sure you do. What a joy. Please send more pictures, videos and updates. (I want to pet his ears)….give him some pets from me please….

What a beautiful boy he is. He has such an intense look on his face. I bet he’s a joy to play with. I miss having a big dog around. They’re so much fun. Give him schritches for me.

Remember 4 years, 6 months agoI still miss my Sheba so much. She has been gone just over 6 months. Her death should have not happened. How do you make veternarians listen to what is happening with a loved pet and take precautions to prevent what happened to her?
I did get another cat because I could not stand the empty house. His name is Milo and I love him very much. He does not take Sheba\’s place but is a great cat and comforts me.
The calico was Sheba and the tabby is Milo. Does not look like the pics are going to show very good on the site.
-
Cathy, the photos are excellent! Very clear, and they really express a lot of personality from both Sheba and Milo. I don’t know, Cathy….I have to believe doctors do the best they can to help and sometimes it all goes wrong, Just as with humans. It doesn’t help, but I just don’t know what else to think. For sure, you need a better vet, and you could send a written report of events to the state governing Board who may review that vet, and help protect others. You are so generous and kind to open your home and heart to Milo. That is a major gift to him, and I know he is not a “replacement” (of course not), but now an additional love in your life. Be kind to yourself, Cathy. It takes time to work through loss, and to find smiles before tears. Stay with us and share more, especially Milo (soooo cute)…

Remember 4 years, 6 months agoOur absolute SWEETNESS Rocket. Had him on several serious meds for 3 years for his liver and Cushings. Then last week he stopped wanting to eat and I took him in and his vitals were ok. The next day they took his bloodwork and then she came in and said he’s in acute kidney failure and his kidneys are shitting down. She said even if we hospitalize him he’d need to be on times for testing and not with us but that the outcome will be the same, so she had to put him down. They picked him up yesterday from the cremation place. I feel so sick inside and SO extremely guilty. Also trying to comfort my sweet Princess Ping Pong who’s looking for him, and sighing, and can’t stop crying and trying to talk to her and it kills me that I can’t help her understand, but I can’t even be,p myself 💔🙏🏼🥺-
I do not understand your feelings of “guilt”. It seems you did everything, just everything you could for Rocket. I understand we are inclined to feel we could have done more, but what more could you or the doctors have done in such a situation? We second guess ourselves, chastise ourselves for not noticing something, or knowing more, but I am absolutely sure you always did what was in Rocket’s best interest and your feelings of guilt are misplaced. I hope you will be kind to yourself, as you know Rocket would be, and would want for you. Your grief is deep, and raw, and you should be in a puddle on the floor with sorrow (but please, no guilt). Princess Ping Pong is mourning too and knows you share this grief together. You are fortunate to have each other. Euthanasia is a gift of peace and release, a relief from current and future pain and suffering. It takes a tremendous amount of love and selflessness to let our beloveds pass with comfort even though we suffer the loss at the deepest cellular level. I admire you for your efforts over the years, and beg you to never feel a whiff of undeserved guilt. I am grateful to you for sharing the gallery of pictures that show Rocket’s personality and let’s us get to know him a bit, and share your grief. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Please also stay with us as often as you want, need or like so we can be here for you. It’s not much, but it’s heartfelt – here is my {{HUG}} for you and one for Princess Ping Pong {{HUG}}. Toni

How are you and Princess Ping Pong doing now? May I ask your name if you are comfortable. All I have is Rocket’s Parents. I am thinking of you daily. Toni

I’m so sorry for you and your family during this difficult and painful time. It’s never easy to say good bye to a beloved fur baby. I myself know I lost my Spirit and Autumn Ranger within less then two months of each other both passed from Thyroid and Kidney disease. Hopefully in the remaining weeks that you have with this dear sweet boy, you and your family can create some wonderful memories with him. Maybe even create a bucket list of things you’d like to do with him, if he’s not in to much pain, to create wonderful and lasting memories. I think it’s very touching that your son sees this precious boy as part of the family and wants to have him included in his Senior pictures. That says a lot about your son and the wonderful young man he must be. Holding you all in prayer at this difficult and painful time.
Knowing Drake is unwell gives you time to prepare, and to make every moment extra special. My girl was very unwell and I knew in my head it was a relief and release for her to pass peacefully, but in my heart the pain was deep. We have to always do what is best for our babies and sadly, saying goodbye is sometimes the best choice for them. Perhaps you would like to have a memorial service for his family and friends, or a party before you say goodbye so everyone can shower him, and you, with love. Whatever you choose, please let us know how you are all doing. If you need an urn or keepsake, you can find a lot of lovely, many personalized, memorial items in our shop. I clipped a bit of fur from my beauty and keep that, along with a canvas of her I had made. I talk to her and pet that every day and it makes me feel better. https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/custom-pet-canvas/
We’re researching the issue with photos and it seems that iPhones don’t allow direct uploads, so you can save as jpg and upload from that. Please let us know if you need help.
And Marybeth, please stay in touch with us. We will be thinking of you and sending our strength. Toni
Thank you so much for your kind words. They meant a lot. We do have a special day planned, all my children who are grown are spending the night after my son’s senior pictures and we are going to hang out with Drake. Then in the morning he will pass peacefully in his favorite room in the house … our 3 season porch. We are planning to have his ashes turned into a planter that sprouts wildflowers so we can see them and remember him fondly each year. Then I am having a paw print and photo framed to place in my office. I really love the pet canvas idea too! I will definitely look into it. He’d make a very handsome portrait.
And thank you for this site. It is a great comfort during this difficult time!
Marybeth
