@chantet0618419 Enchante, Chante :-). Welcome to our caring community. Please tell us about your pet/s, and share some photos if you like. Are you with a landscaping company? Are you familiar with Let Your Love Grow? It is a ferilizing compound specially formulated to neutralize cremated remains (people and pets), nourishes plants and allows the remains to become a part of the plant! https://letyourlovegrow.com/pages/losing-a-pet
Their link is on the right side of this page, too.
I hope you are doing okay, Chante. Are you? We know the pain of parting from a beloved pet and are here to support you. Toni -

It’s so nice to hear that you opened your home and heart to “crazy Lucy” (That’s what we’re calling her from now on). May we see photos of Lulu and Lucy? Ten days after my BG died, a friends’ mom went into a rehab facility after a fall and I brought her 1 year old kitty, Boots, into my home. I absolutely had no intention of having another pet at that time, I was still heavily grieving my loss, but Boots was so young, lively and sweet that I HAD to enjoy him. It made me realize again that ‘every leaf falls from the tree’ and BG had a wonderful five years with me. A new pet doesn’t replace one, they bring new joy and love. No one should ever feel pressured to adopt unless or until they are ready and able to devote the time, care and love it takes. But having Boots really helped heal my broken heart. (He went back to his mom, which broke it again, but he’s happy). I hope to “meet” you at Thursday’s group. Sending you and Crazy Lucy {BIG HUGS) 🤗🤗Toni -

So much sadness, Karen. I am very sorry. Isn’t it wonderful for you to have Lily Belle and Alfie now? And how knid of you to adopt, especially hearing Alfie’s story. It’s good to hear that Alfie is starting to feel safe and is slowly warming up to men. Please keep sharing your stories with us. We’d love to see pictures of them, too 💕Toni -

Well, it has been a long time since I’ve posted. Life has been hectic to say the least. The last time I posted I had only had my precious Pug Grunt-Grunt for about a year and a half. She was in good health then. In July of 2020 i started to notice that her hind legs started to not working quite right. I took her to the vet, and she acted like it was no big deal. Just watch her and let us know if anything changes. Gee thanks doc! NOT! Well she stayed about the same until November. We had to move during that month and I noticed she was wobbling more, but still motivating good. By Feb of 2021 her wobble was getting more pronounced. I wanted to take her in to the vet, but was unable to due to unexpected bills. This had me spastic with worry that she had degenerative myelopathy. By April of 2021 I had started using a walking sling with her and it helped her a lot. She was able to run around the yard as fast as I could follow her. I started thinking about a wheelchair for her. Then found out that there was no way I could afford to buy her one. I’m on a low fixed income and the prices they want are outrageous. Then by the grace of God I found a charity called High Rollers Club that help dogs get wheelchairs when their hoomans can’t afford one. In July Grunt-Grunt’s chair arrived, and all I had to do was donate what I could afford towards the cost. Mama Cynthia, the lady who runs the charity does everything she can for mainly Pugs, but she doesn’t turn any dog, cat, pig, even a goat away. Grunt-Grunt loved it and took right to it, for regular walks again. Our yard is so small that she didn’t maneuver very easily in it, so we continued to use the sling in the yard. Again my house is too small for her to use her chair inside. When inside we carried her long distance, she weebled and wobbled pretty good if not going too far. In March of 2022 the eye that had been injured before I got her ruptured in the back. The vet had to remove her eye, to the tune of $1,200. Thank…[Read more]

I have always had more than 2 pets. When my husband had cancer, we adopted a little girl, Lily Belle. She was being trained as a service dog for my adult grandson, but because her training wasn’t complete, his landlord would not let him keep her. My dogs were all very senior so my grandson asked if we would take her. In addition to the cancer, my husband had copd and couldn’t lay in bed so slept in his lift chair. If he got up during the night, Lily would come get me (she would either sleep on his lap or on a pet bed next to his chair).
After he passed, I kept working part-time even though I am almost 75. In the 3 years since my husband’s death, Lily was developing separation anxiety so I started looking for a companion for both of us. That is how Alfie was added to our small family. He is a rescue dog approximately 2 years old, (Lily is 5) and was dumped on the streets and badly abused (he is terrified of men and tries to bite most of them). He is now glued to me and is protective of both me and Lily. He has now accepted my son and my granddaughter’s fiancee so is getting better.

Karen, you’ve been through a lot! I am so glad you find the strength to care for Alfie and Lily Belle, but maybe you all prop each other up. Sometime in the past the quote by Ram Dass “We are here to walk each other home” really landed on me. Best wishes to you!

Lisa, I understand 😞 I am so sorry for your loss 💔 Getting over it is not possible, it’s very painful and you will grieve. When we lose our precious fur babies it is gut wrenching. Some people don’t understand how we can still be grieving after a certain time, but, I guess they never had a special bond with a animal. They mean well when they say those things because they dont know what else to say and they are trying to help you. That’s why this group exists to help us get through this terrible grief. You can come here anytime and say what is on your mind. No judgement here.
Sending you lots of hugs and wishing you peace. Take care of yourself 💔 😞 -
Thank you for your kind words
Getting over is def not possible
I miss my baby ,I cry everyday
I feel like I can still smell her I dream about her every night .I call out for her everyday wen I wake up ,not realizing she’s not here ugh ,this pain is unbearable
Omg my poor baby 💔💔

Spoiled rotten? Imagine that!! Lovely. And Gina, Thank You for rescuing dear PeeWee. Please tell us about your life together – how you met, how old PeeWee was when you met, what kind of pet he was …everything. It’s so sad that our pets are only “on loan” to us, and never for long enugh. But Gina, you wouldn’t trade your times with PeeWee for anything, right? I adopt older pets, fall in love with each of them, and while saying goodbye is devastating, I hope I gave them a good aging and end of life filled with care and love. Again, I send you my heartfelt sympathy and hope you will share more with us. Toni -

Renee, I am, we are, so sorry. Saying goodbye is beyond anything, and knowing Gigi, and she you, the way you did, and the relationship you had, makes this time especially hard. What a beauty. Her kindness and intelligence are all expressed in this photo. Gigi knew you loved her. She would want you to honor your shared life by grieving, and being extremely happy and grateful for that, do you think? But that will come later for you. Your pain is deep, and real. I feel it. Renee, please, if you can, join us this Thursday July 20th on Zoom for our group meeting. I think it will help you to talk anout Gigi with our kind, caring and understanding friends. The link is under “Events”. If you can’t make it, please share more with us here because we are here for you. {{HUGE HUGS}. Toni -
