Thank you Toni for your caring thoughts. It’s hard especially when I’m doing things that remind me of my dear sweet girl. But knowing that I have a place to share my pain sadness and grief with people who know and understand what I’m going through both virtually and in person, helps the grief and pain to begin to heal. Thank you for your thoughtful comments and for permitting me to join this group. I’m also thankful that I have two other beautiful fur girls Saraya, who will be 16 next month and is in terrific health and still likes to play like she’s a kitten and Autumn Ranger who just turned 12 and like Spirit, also suffers from kidney and thyroid disease at the moment is holding her own, who help with the grief and pain because they give me a reason to keep on living. 🤗💔❤️🐾🐈⬛ -

It’s with a heavy and broken heart that I share with you that my dear sweet little Spirit, lost her 2 plus years battle with Kidney disease, on Monday May 23, 2022, and crossed the Rainbow Bridge; where she’s now enjoying a life free of pain and suffering. I’m sure she’s now running free with Morgain, Kovu, Eragon, Chai , Lyta,Coda,Tabiths and her other 4 and 2 legged family members. My dear sweet Spirit I’m sitting here reminiscing about all the annoying, funny, sweet, loving quirky things you’d do. How you strolled into my house when the cable guy, there for the upstairs tenant left the porch door open and you moved into my basement. For the longest time you hid yourself from me but meowed so loudly that I could hear you through the graying vents in the floor; this you acquired your name because you were a talkative unseen Spirit. I also remember your last but if defiance the Friday evening before you passed when you swiped my pizza right off my plate. How you liked to sleep on the pillow right my head, standing underfoot all the time when I was preparing food, checking out what was in the refrigerator when I’d open it to get something out and the cellar door pan along all the time instead of using the many scratching posts you had access to. I’m thinking of getting a small table and placing it next to the basement door, that you always liked to scratch and placing your ashes there. It can take the place of the laundry basket I used to put there to prevent you from scratching and that I’d always have to move abs remember to put back each time I’d go to the basement. My days will be easier now with less prep work and I’ll save on cat liter but what I wouldn’t give to have my dear sweet girl back with me, as would her 2 fur sisters Saraya and Autumn Ranger. I miss you so much Spirit and it’s only been 2 days since I said good bye and let you cross the Rainbow Bridge. We had a wonderful 12 1/2 years together and I’m so glad that you chose me as your human mom. You may be gone but you’ll never be furgotten.-
Oh Suzanne, I can’t see the keyboard because I’m crying so hard reading this. I’ll be back with you tomorrow. But please know how you have touched me with your loving story. I am so sorry. Toni

I am sorry to hear Suzanne. This was beautifully put. I can feel the love you put into this post so I have no doubt Spirit felt that from the time you let her in. You are in my thoughts.
-
Suzanne, how are you doing now? I was, and am still, so very touched by your beautiful Spirit. She and my beloved Beauty Girl looked so much alike (you can read her memorial here: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/beauty-girl/ ). I have a canvas picture of her I pet and kiss every day, and while I am glad for her to be at peace, as you are for Spirit, I know how much you miss her. Please, keep us posted about how you, and your other faithful friends are doing. {{HUGS}} Toni

Once again less then 2 months after the passing of my dear sweet Spirit, who crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge on 5/23/22,
I had to say good bye to my beloved Autumn Ranger on July 18,2022.
The house just isn’t the same, last week I said good bye to you, my beloved Autumn Ranger, the second time I had to make this decision in less then two months. My heart is broken, my grief unbearable but I know to have kept you with me me would have caused you untold pain and suffering. You gently but purrsistently let me know it was time to say goodbye. You who rarely meowed started to do so more and more frequently. You were eating less and less and choosing not to take your meds. And this morning as we laid in bed you pawed me numerous times so I’d pet you and rubbed your head against me looking for your favorite head rubs. While I was enjoying sone extra quality time with you, having had to take the day off for your vet appointment, unlike me you knew today was the day we’d say good… -
Suzanne, that is the most touching tribute and truly honors Autumn Ranger and Spirit. Thank you for sharing your experiences and deepest feelings. You must let us know how you are coming along, and when you find two sweethearts to share with. I’m inclined to adopt seniors, too. You might try Fostering – it allows you to get to know each other and find out if you have a special connection. Oh, thank you for extending your kind, caring understanding with others in our community, like Regina. We all hurt when one hurts, and it helps to know we care. Sending you {{HUGS}}. Toni

Well last weekend my Grunt-Grunt’s eye started getting goobers in it. I thought it was just an infection, and it wouldn’t be too terribly hard to deal with. By Sun evening the goobers had turned yellow/green and had taken over her entire eye. The one that was injured when I rescued her. The earliest I could get her into the vet was Wednesday morning. The vet informed me that due to the extra pressure in that eye it had actually ruptured in the back of it. The vet said that I had 2 options, put her down or do the surgery to remove her eye. Thank God for my Momma and her credit card. The money I had with me would have only covered putting her down, and the vet only allowed payments if it was paid off in 60 days. The surgery was $1200. No way I could pay that off in 2mo. I was panicking, how could this be happening to us? I went to talk to my mom who was in the waiting room, absolutely bawling because I thought I was going to have to put her down. My mom said she would not let this happen to her granddog and put it on her credit card. I have never been so relieved in all my life. She’s an angel. I brought Grunt-Grunt home Thursday afternoon, and she is healing nicely. I’m telling you that from Saturday through Wednesday morning I didn’t sleep because I was cleaning her eye out every hour, to keep the puss from a hard crust on it. When I think about just how close I came to losing my precious Pug because I didn’t have an extra $1200 laying around I start to shake, and cry uncontrollably. I’m going to apply for the Care Credit card, it’s for medical bills. Wish me luck with getting approved. I won’t use it unless there’s a medical emergency, but this way I won’t ever have to make that decision for that reason again. Losing an animal because of their age or because there’s nothing else the vet can do hurts horribly. But thinking that my Pug was going to die because I’m poor was honestly the absolute worst pain I have ever felt. It was worse than any other animal…[Read more]

Wow, Dana, I am so relieved that Grunt-Grunt is okay. You had me scared. Thank you for sharing about the Care Credit card, too. That’s a great idea. If you have advance notice of a necessary procedure, you can also submit to https://www.waggle.org/furever/ Waggle helps pay when a pet parent can’t. Keep us posted and give Grunt-Grunt a big hug from me :-). Toni

Isn’t it different, Lori, how the tears just come on, and from deep within? Little things can trigger memories and sometimes, tears. I hope you also find smiles when thinking of Snowball. Thank you for your support and sympathies. It means a lot to know our community really understands. I’m sending you a {{HUG}}

Your baby was so precious. I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this grief. Please remember that between hello and goodbye there was so much love. Don’t be afraid to rescue a deserving dog, not to replace your lost furbaby, but to help you heal. Sending you prayers for peace for your soul, healing thoughts 🙏💭🙏💭🙏💭 and many Pug hugs from my senior rescue Pug Grunt-Grunt and myself. Lean on the people here. Toni is phenomenal when it comes to support. She’s amazing. -

Hi everyone, sorry I have not kept updated. I had Covid back in January so Syrus Stayed with a friend while I was in the hospital. I came home but I had to be on oxygen for a month so she kept Syrus for me. He did come to see me but every time he came to see me, and he saw that oxygen tank he would panic. Syrus has separation issues, and he is also very skittish. If something makes a loud noise, falls or high wind, Syrus goes into panic mood. He starts shaking, and hides behind me. I believe that he was abused, because he’s got spots over his body where he’s missing hair. It looks like somebody might’ve been using him as a target with a bb gun.He was also deserted during hurricane Irene in Florida. When he first came to me, he was petrified of all people. He was always friendly with other animals and kids. Now he’s getting used to people. I also have Hex the cat who was feral, and who stayed with me through the whole Covid situation. My friend did take care of him while I was in the hospital, but could not take her to her house because Hex likes to claw. Even though I have claw pads for him, he still goes around scratching anything that is wood, and my friend has some expensive furniture. He is a very friendly cat, and loves to be rubbed. I have a lot of windows in this mobile. Hex is now an indoor cat, and he loves the windows. I live in a mobile park with a lot of trees so he gets to see squirrels, rabbits, raccoons and foxes. Plus a lot of birds. He runs from window to window to watch them. The only thing he doesn’t like is water and when things fall. I love them both very much, and I missed Syrus a lot when he was with my friend, even though Hex was here to comfort me. Everyone have a great day

Geri, I want you to know how much your thoughtful story is helping me right now. I am living with Boots, the 2 1/2 year old cat of a friends’ mother who is in temporary assisted living. It’s very hard to think of Boots going back to her one day, and your story really helps me know how much she misses him, and he probably her. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your touching history with Syrus and Hex. This is one of the reasons our community is here – to support and celebrate together. I am sending three {{BIG HUGS}}. Hi everyone hope all of you are doing well
-
Thank you very, very much, Lori. I am doing better – I think of how she was failing and the last week of her life it was clear she was not doing well. That helps-knowing she passed comfortably.. It’s lonesome and empty, but I am truly grateful for our times together. And, I am grateful for the support and understanding from our community. Thank you again. Toni
