Well it\’s been quite some time since I posted last. Last time I had an adorable Pug Grunt-Grunt, so named for the little grunts she made when she was happy. Well, when I got Grunt-Grunt her left eye was damaged. In March of 2022 her injured eye ruptured and had to be removed. That was $1200 I didn\’t have, but I couldn\’t let her go either. She healed well from the surgery. But for about a year before that she\’d been suffering from Pug myopathy and could wobble at best without assistance. So I found this great charity called High Rollers Club, and they supply dogs with wheelchairs, and you return the chair when you are no longer using it. Well, that dreadful day came for me on 12/30/22 at 4:10pm. Grunt-Grunt had quit eating on Christmas Day, but had shown no signs of being sick until then. When we got to the vet I was told that there was nothing they could do for my baby girl. She had a horrible infection and even if I put her in the ER she wouldn\’t make it. Why?!?!?! She was such a happy little dog who\’s life started out with abuse and neglect. She was my world, got me through so many dark days. I would\’ve done anything to save her, even traded my life for hers, but then I wouldn\’t have been here to care for her. I feel so much guilt over her death, if I just would have known that she was sick, I could have saved her. She deserved to live and love for many more years. She would have turned 12 this May. I miss her so much. -

Toni, I am praying for Walter and you. Please let us know what the doctor had to say. I had a cat that had cancer of the ear. She did fine for about three years but then I had to put her to sleep because it actually started bleeding.
-
Geri, this is so hard. Thank you for caring. We’re seeing the doctor in the morning. I just posted about a friend whose cat had a similar mass and hers ruptured and she suffered terribly. I don’t want that for Walter and am trying to do what’s best for him. As we all do. 💔I’ll post an update tomorrow. Toni

Syrus and Hex and I want to wish everyone an happy Easter, and we are doing great.
-
Thank you for the holiday wishes, Geri. It’s so nice of you to let us know you, Syrus and Hex are well. My Walter seems okay but it’s hard for me to evaluate how he’s really feeling. We see his doctor tomorrow and I’m hoping she can give me insight. We know his mass is fast-growing but I don’t see that he is uncomfortable. Love ’em good and hard while we can 💕🤗

I miss my Spooky so much.-
Oh Linda, your Spooky looks so much like my Beauty Girl (you can see her pictures in our Memorials tab). It’s been a long while since we’ve heard from you, and I am so very sorry it’s now with Spooky gone. How long has it been since you said goodbye? How did you and Spooky meet, and how long were you together? Did Spooky know Shadow and Chubby Boy? Please let us know, and tell us how you are doing. We have a monthly group meeting the third Thursday each month (might be a slight change due to holidays) and I hope you will join us for some of those. Toni

My nieces family adopted a dog named Buttercup. I I babysit Buttercup twice a week, and they tell her that her and Syrus are kissing cousins. She is always sticking her tongue inside of his mouth. I also tell everyone she’s my great niece. She’s such a cuddly family.
-
Geri, it’s good to hear from you but boy, what a sad and tough year you and yours have endured. Let’s hope the new year brings better things for you all. Buttercup and Syrus sound cute. It’s good you have them to share with. We’ll be waiting to hear from you, and I wish you all a good, healthy and happier 2023. Toni

Sorry, not been in touch but a lot has happened to me over the past year. I had omicron, Covid pneumonia and congestive heart failure between January 2022 and March 2022. Thank God for many of my friends and family who watched Syrus and Hex for me. Unfortunately, my sister lost her dog Charlie girl. Are used to call her my Charlie girl. She wasn’t really friendly with too many people except me. My sister had to put it down just to expire for Christmas. It broke my heart. Then my girlfriend Terri who took care of Syrus and Hex for me had to put down her cat Muppet just before Christmas. Talk about another heartache. I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

Thanks for the invite Toni. I will try to join the zoom meeting this Thursday providing I don’t get sidetracked and forget. Hugs and prayers to all of you who are struggling with the loss of a beloved pet. Remember to be gentle with yourselves and don’t let others get to you when they think you should be over your loss by now. Until they have lived and experienced loss they will never understand. For many people who have never had a pet it’s just an animal to those of us who have loved a beloved animal it is/was a family member.

Hi everyone sorry I’ve been so out of touch. While I’m not good at regularly checking in, I do pray daily for all animals and humans in need of healing, for a peaceful pain free death for all animals and humans who will die and that they may be surrounded by loved ones, family and friends and finally for all who are grieving the loss of a loved one or beloved pet, that they may feel God’s loving, healing embrace. I have been thinking a lot about Spirit and Autumn Ranger both of whom I lost this year. Today was especially hard when I received an email from PetSmart telling me to open it for a birthday gift for Spirit. She would have been 15, “unofficially” today. It was also around this time that she joined my family. I wanted to share pictures of my new babies, Oliver, the tiger cat and Sebastian, the orange cat. Adopting Oliver and Sebastian on August 4, 2022, was a fulfillment of a promise. Arhat I made to Spirit and Autumn Ranger, As I said good bye to them; that I’d adopt cats in their memories who were in need of a loving fur ever home as they once were. They are bonded 9 year old declawed 😿”brothers”. Oliver, AKA Mr. Chubs, he was 17 lbs, when I adopted him and he’s now down to almost 15 lbs, is very friendly and out going. He loves belly rubs, and likes to hold my hand down with one paw as he licks me. Sebastian is very shy and hides a lot but is slowly coming out of his shell and feeling more at home. The photo of Sebastian on my lap was taken last Tuesday evening. I refer to it as an early Christmas gift as Sebastian, unexpectedly started hanging out with me, allowing me to pet him and even spent some time sitting on my lap, a first. Saraya , my feisty, sassy 16 1/2 year old is the black cat and my foster failure. She and I have been together for 16 years, this month. She turned 16 in June and was my best failure ever. She gave me a scare recently and I thought I might possibly be loosing her too but thankfully it seems she’s on the mend again. She was eating poorly and peeing everywhere but the litter box. I got her into my wonderful vet and found out she had either a UTI or kidney infection. Evidently both are common when you have kidney disease, which she has thankfully she will eat the kidney diet food, especially the wet food. Since she wouldn’t take the prescribed antibiotics I got her into the vet again for an antibiotic injection, expensive but worth the peace of mind. She’s also gotten fluids twice now and will continue to get them 1-2 x per week, as needed. I told the vet when I saw her last Tuesday, that I needed her to be honest with me regarding Saraya’s because I wasn’t going to be selfish and think of my need to keep her with me until I was ready and cause her undue pain and suffering as I more than likely did with Autumn Ranger and Spirit. If it was her time then I was prepared as painful as it would be to let her peacefully go. Thankfully this didn’t happen and now she eating up to a 5-5.5 Oz can per day of food. Merry Christmas, Holiday Blessings and Happy New Year to all pets and their humans.

Yes, Suzanne, time can help ease the pain, but time is fungible, and we each flow through grief at our own pace. I hope to see you at the meeting this Thursday. If not, please know I am thinking of you. Toni

Just thought I\’d add a couple photos of my Lil Biker Babe aka Dixie. She\’s definitely filled the spot Dexter left behind. Getting another puppy was the best choice I\’ve made-
Chuck! I think about you and Dixie all the time – I tell people about you painting her toenails :-). You certainly have a way with the pups, turning them into biker dogs. I am so happy to hear from you, see pictures of Dixie, and know that you are doing well. You touched us deeply when Dexter passed, and are always a most welcome part of our community. I am just tickled to hear from you and Dixie. Please don’t be a stranger, and have a wonderful holiday. Hmmm…. will you share some holiday phots of Dixie with us? Huge {HUGS}. Toni
