Dana, I remember Grunt-Grunt. She was such a little trooper and I am so sorry she was unwell. You are understandably heartbroken. What kindness and caring you shared with her. It’s hard for us to second-guess our actions and it’s easy to find ways to feel guilty, but you had vet care and nursed her and she knew how much you loved her. I hope you will be as kind to yourself as she would want you to be. We wish we could have our pets with us forever but they are only on loan to us, never for long enough. I’m still grieving hard for her. Adopted another dog, poor thing was so traumatized it was awful. She’s coming out of it a little at a time. Will write more about her later.

The name Lexie Loo Who just came to me when we got her. I have a habit of putting the first letter of the name with oo behind it on a lot of dogs. The Who came from the little girl in the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who. She has blossomed so much since we brought her home. When we got her she hadn’t been groomed in months, was filthy, matted stinky and had a horrible ear infection in both ears. She spent the first month sitting on the arm of the couch and shook. She was so traumatized. It just broke my heart. She’s an 8 yr old apricot cockapoo, with little dark patches. Now that she’s been groomed she’s so cute. There were a couple of coincidences that told me that I was doing the right thing by adopting her. First when I got Grunt-Grunt it was 2 wks after I lost Ladiebug. I picked Lexie Loo up 2 wks after I lost Grunt-Grunt. Second they were both 7yrs when I got them, Third both turned 8 in May after getting them. Four we left the house at 1:15 when going to let Grunt-Grunt go, and…

Oh Linda, your Spooky looks so much like my Beauty Girl (you can see her pictures in our Memorials tab). It’s been a long while since we’ve heard from you, and I am so very sorry it’s now with Spooky gone. How long has it been since you said goodbye? How did you and Spooky meet, and how long were you together? Did Spooky know Shadow and Chubby Boy? Please let us know, and tell us how you are doing. We have a monthly group meeting the third Thursday each month (might be a slight change due to holidays) and I hope you will join us for some of those. Toni

Thanks for the invite Toni. I will try to join the zoom meeting this Thursday providing I don’t get sidetracked and forget. Hugs and prayers to all of you who are struggling with the loss of a beloved pet. Remember to be gentle with yourselves and don’t let others get to you when they think you should be over your loss by now. Until they have lived and experienced loss they will never understand. For many people who have never had a pet it’s just an animal to those of us who have loved a beloved animal it is/was a family member.

Yes, Suzanne, time can help ease the pain, but time is fungible, and we each flow through grief at our own pace. I hope to see you at the meeting this Thursday. If not, please know I am thinking of you. Toni

Chuck! I think about you and Dixie all the time – I tell people about you painting her toenails :-). You certainly have a way with the pups, turning them into biker dogs. I am so happy to hear from you, see pictures of Dixie, and know that you are doing well. You touched us deeply when Dexter passed, and are always a most welcome part of our community.
