All 3 of my girls that I lost with in 7 1/2 months of each other came up in my FB memories today. Spirit 5/23/22, Black cat sitting behind me, Autumn Ranger, 7/18/22, and Saraya 1/ 9/23, who died of a broken heart after loosing her 2 bonded sisters. July 25, is also the 1 year heavenly birthday of my dear sweet toothless senior Kalina. I only had her for less than 3 months but she left an indelible mark on my heart and befriended and helped Sebastian to become less timid and more interactive with his human, by her sweet gentle loving manner. The last two pictures are of Kalina and of Sebastian saying good bye to Kalina. How I miss my girls and Sebastian and the many other fur babies I’ve lost over the years. Sometimes I wish I could turn back the hands of time so I could have more tike to spend with them but at the save time I don’t think I’d want to repeat the pain of saying goodbye to them again. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you grieving the loss of a beloved pet.

I feel your pain Maureen. I find sometimes I’m grieving more now than when I had to say good bye to my many fur babies. Sending you hugs and praying that you may feel God’s loving healing embrace.

Regarding Takoda: I finally called the vet Monday afternoon. The vet specialist never informed her via email or otherwise, that they had posted Takoda’s results in the portal. This specialty clinic evidently per my vet is inconsistent with where they post results and this particular specialty clinic has poor communication even with vets, so I guess I can’t take their lack of communication to personally. Anyway the ultrasound results showed no cancer, thank God! It did however show inflamed intestine and bowel area consistent with IBS , so I will pull him off his weight loss food, since vet said he was ok weight wise as she could feel his ribs at his last exam and only feed him the biome for the next month, I’ll just keep his dry food at 1/3 cup per day to cut calories as I was doing with the weight loss food. If he doesn’t show improvement with that and his B-12 injections, we may have to switch to a hydrolyzed diet with out chicken, royal canon has some with a variety of exotic meat flavors. Per Dr. Danboise some cats guts react badly to chicken. If we have to switch, I will try to transition Kaylanee to the same food, since insurance won’t cover her food as they consider her IBS, preexisting. Takoda’s records don’t have IBS written down and we’ll leave it that way so insurance will continue to pay for his food. Regarding myself, I went to Massachusetts yesterday and spent the afternoon and evening with my sister. She’d gotten free tickets, thanks to AARP, to the Wooster Red Sox , triple A team of the Red Sox. While the Red Sox lost the game it was still a fun time. We walked around the ball park, which was built in 2021 and has huge baseballs imprinted with name and number as well as autographed by famous hall of fame Red Sox players. They also have huge replicas of the 4 World Series rings they won this century on display outside the park. I remember when Carl Yastrzemski, retired in the 80s and he was presented with a rocking chair on the field. I also had the privilege, although didn’t realize it at the time, until a fellow employee told me, of waiting on Carlton Fisk, when I worked at McDonald’s as a teenager. I was able to get his autograph ✍️, on a McDonalds bag as I had to bring out an item from his order that was delayed. And yes Toni, I also have been to a Colorado Rockies game, either the same year they opened the park or the following year I still have at least one of the t-shirts. I bought when in attendance there, many many moons ago. 😹 Then I spent the night at my brother’s mother-law’s house and we had a nice visit last night and today as well. Tomorrow, I will spend the day at my brother’s newly rebuilt home up at the Weirs, near Lake Winnipesaukee, his pre ious one was destroyed by a burst pipe, that went undiscovered for 3 weeks while he was on an European cruise. We will hang out together, play cribbage and maybe if it’s warm enough, I’ll go swimming but that’s not likely as while days have been warm nights have been quite cool, making for good sleeping weather. Kaylanee is doing well in NH but I think she’s missing the company of her annoying brothers Takoda and Oreo.
      • Good news about the ultrasound🙌🎉Whew…thank you for letting us know. It sounds like you are very busy and doing fun things with your family. You need this break and I hope you continue to enjoy your time away. Kaylanee may be happy for a break herself😻Stay cool and be good to yourself. Toni
        • Suzanne, its great news about Takoda. I’m happy to see Kaylanee is doing well in NH, but youre probably right about her missing her brother’s. Sounds like you had a nice time with your sister in Mass. It is sooo hot down here in SW Florida and being outside is not an option for me. Thank goodness for AC…lol
I know it’s hot up north too, so stay cool.
          • How are you doing, Maureen?
            • Hi Toni, I am doing okay. Of course, some days are still hard, but because of therapy, support groups and wonderful advice from so many people, I am moving along. I still miss my Romeo terribly and he certainly left a scar on my heart that I will always feel. He was my everything!
Thank you so much for reaching out.
              • Yes, Romeo will always be a part of your heart and memories, and sometimes, when we allow ourselves to think back to the times that we shared, good and bad, the sadness and pain come back. I hope you also have smiles when you think of the many fun, funny and loving times you and Romeo enjoyed. Please keep sharing your feelings with us Maureen. I am sending you more {{BIG HUGS}}. Toni

Sorry I missed Thursday night. I realized I had more to do than originally thought I had to do to get ready and I was tired from stress and work. Thank you for all the well wishes and concerns. Regarding Takoda, I’m still waiting for my vet to call or text me with the results of Takoda’s ultrasound. I don’t know if the lack of response from my vet is because she’s extremely busy, a possibility, as she’s the only vet at this practice or the specialist hasn’t sent her the results yet. I’m thinking might reach out to her on Monday, if I don’t hear from her first. Thankfully Takoda’s insurance paid for 90 % of his ultrasound. Kaylanee is not a big fan of the carrier and was moving around and pushing to get out. I had her on the floor in the back seat as I’d heard that was the safest place for them in the car. However at my first rest stop, I took her carrier and put it in the front with me. While she was still agitated it did calm her some as I was able to open the carrier a crack to put my hand in and pet her. She got sick 2x this morning on me and had diarrhea, the later she hasn’t has in a while despite her IBD, and of course she wasn’t interested in eating the vet food I put the cerenium/nausea meds in, she ate all her dry just fine, so I just left that food out for and it was gone when I got home from visiting my mom tonight. She also ate all her wet food tonight with no issues along with churro and treats so she seems to be feeling better. I’m thinking maybe the stress of the drive caused her nausea issues,so I may give her a cerenium before the drive back to Syracuse next Saturday. My visit with my mom today was good. She was in good form, happy and her memory was sharp, thankfully today, for the most part.

                    • Oh, even humans get carsick so that was probably causing Kaylanee’s distress. Let us know what the vet says abut Takoda’s ultrasound. Good to hear that your mother is doing well. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy your visit. Thank you for your update, Suzanne.

Takoda went for his abdominal ultrasound today and despite two Gabapentin, he still needed additional sedation. I found out that he needed to have a presedation exam because it’s the law when going to a new practice before they can do anything the animal must have an initial exam, even if he goes regularly to his own vet. The ultrasound Dr. will share results with my vet with in24 hours so hoping my vet will call/text me with results before I leave Friday for vacation. 🙏 Since they didn’t call me directly, whatever they found wasn’t a must treat ASAP. I think Takoda did better than his mom, as u was an emotional basket case. I think I was crying more than if I was saying goodbye to him. I’m just hoping the emotional roller coaster will be out of commission for a while because quite frankly, I’m tired of being on it.

                      • Oh Suzanne, this is so hard for you and I am so sorry for your distress. If Takoda was calmer, so would you be, don’t you think? Maybe you are picking up on each other’s emotions. Hopefully the results will be good and you can enjoy your vacation with family. Don’t feel any pressure to join us this week, but DO keep us updated when you can. Of course, we would love to see you Thursday. You are in our thoughts. {{HUGS}} Toni

                            Kaylanee update:
I was able to get Kaylanee into the vet on Saturday morning. I will as stressed and anxious to the max as, the vet tech took her immediately, after getting my update info. They were gone for what seemed like forever 20-30 minutes doing urinalysis and blood for full blood panel test. I was also freaking out because periodically I was hearing a cat loudly meowing and all I could think was I hope it’s not my cat. Vet finally came in and said he was very concerned as her urine was very diluted and feared her kidneys not properly doing their job. Any way great news all test results that were sent out came back negative. He has no idea why her urine was so diluted it since she’s acting “normal”, eating, active etc., and for a cat diagnosed with IBS, she’s been having normal formed bms. So I guess the b-12 injections and the biome food is working for her. Now to pray Takoda has a successful second attempt at his ultrasound tomorrow and that that will bring good news too. 🙏❤️🐾 Not sure if I’ll be able to make Thursdays group call as I’m leaving the next day to visit family in NH but please know I’m holding you all in thought and prayer.

                            • Hi Suzanne! I was happening hear that evis good with Kaylanee and hope that Takoda’s Vet visit will go well too. Have a great time in NH and try not to worry too much. I know that is easier said than done, but I hope you can relax and enjoy. Please let us know how Takoda’s ultrasound goes.
Sending you warm thoughts good wishes. 🫂

Please pray for Kaylanee, she’s just recently started peeing outside the litter box litter box at least 2x that I found yesterday and once that I’m aware of this morning. She’s pooping in the litter box. I called vet and tech said to monitor her for any other behavioral changes, eating, lethargy, drinking, etc., I do have appointment for Thursday June 18 and will call before that if needed. My PTSD , from loosing all my 4 babies between March 28-January 26, is starting to kick in and my emotions are all over the place right now. It feels like a repeat of last December, the week before I was leaving for vacation, my 92 year old mother fell, my friend’s husband died the same day, suddenly and I lost my Freyja, unexpectedly on December 17. At least this time it’s only animal -and car issues but I’m
Not sure how much more I’m able to handle.

                              • Suzanne, Please know that animal/beloved pet issues are extremely meaningful and powerful in ways nothing else can be and that we undertsand the deep anxiety and pain when one of them is in distress. You are not nuts, you are strong, kind, caring and generous to care so much for so many. The stress is real and if we can be a part of the support you need, we are here for you. Our group call is next Thursday, June 18th, but you are welcome to call me. We’re here for you Honey.
                                • Suzanne,
I’m so sorry you’re going through this! After losing four beloved babies in such a short period of time, it can understand that this would trigger a lot of fear and bring back those painful memories. You’ve already done exactly the right thing by calling the vet and scheduling an appointment. Cats can sometimes start peeing outside the box for reasons that are treatable (urinary issue, stress, changes in routine, or even something as simple as litter box preference, they are picky sometimes). I know our tendency is to expect the worst as pet parents. Right now, try to take things one day at a time and remember to be gentle with yourself, too. Kaylanee is lucky to have someone who notices changes quickly and is paying such close attention to her.

I’ll be keeping both you and Kaylanee in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the appointment brings reassuring answers and that this turns out to be something manageable. Sending you a big hug so you don’t have to carry all of this fear alone. ❤️

                                  • Suzanne, sorry to hear you’re having some issues with Kaylanee and hoping it will be something treatable like a UTI. Thinking of you both and sending extra hugs and prayers that things will work out.
                                    • Thank you Diane and Bernie for your kind words and prayers. Belated Birthday blessings Dosne , to you and Lincoln. So happy to hear that Lincoln’s blood work came back looking good.

Yesterday was Takoda’s three year gotcha day. He also turned five on his unofficial birthday in late May. My sweet boy was rescued off the streets of Syracuse by one of the many fosters who volunteer with the CNY Cat Coalition. (C. C. ). I’d just gotten back from a 6 Hour drive from New Hampshire where I gone for a four-day weekend to visit my family and started scrolling on Facebook instead of preparing for bed as I was exhausted and had work in the morning. As I scrolled on Facebook, a poster of cats posted by the CNY CC shut up on my feed I have never seen a poster of cats from them since and this was the first one I’ve ever seen also, normally they only post pictures of individual cats that are available for adoption. As I looked at the pictures of each cat, a black cat named Curtis caught my eye I knew nothing about him not even his age. I just knew I had to have him because he reminded me of my Saraya, that I had to say goodbye to on January 9, 2023 who despite being in good health had given up and died of a broken heart after she lost her two bonded sisters within less than two months of each other. Despite being tired I immediately filled out the online adoption application. I was informed his foster would contact me shortly with more information. That was on June 4 of 2023, on 6/8/23, I went to meet Takoda and welcome him to his new forever home. I adopted him in memory of my Saraya, as I tell each cat, as I say goodbye to them that I’ll adopt another cat in their memory that needs a loving forever home as they once did. He’s a sweet, loving boy who likes to sleep next to my head in bed, enjoys sitting and cuddling with me and looking out the window out of my three cats that I presently have he’s my talker and quite loud and boisterous when he has something to say. Takoda was a birthday gift to myself and one of the best presence ever.
Regarding Takoda’s health and need for an ultrasound, I requested the ultrasound referral as h…[Read more]

I was out walking at Chittenango Lions Botanical Garden park, with my individual today. and I ran across this cat angel, in a small angel garden, that I thought I’d share with all of you who are mourning the passing of a beloved cat. It really touched me deeply when I saw it. I hope it brings some peace to anyone grieving. Also thought I’d share this little reflection I came across on FB.

I took Takoda in for his outpatient ultrasound this morning, at Vetrinary Medical Center, which is also the ER hospital for the area. I had given him
the gabapentin, 2hours prior, as instructed. I told them if he needed more sedation, that was ok, I was willing to pay for it. About 10 minutes later they bring him back out telling me they were unable to do it because he was to wiggly I suspected they’d need to give him additional sedation. They told me I’d have to reschedule, as they needed an urgent care doctor and they didn’t have one today. So as she gave me some dates all of which were my 12 1/2 hour work days. So I said what about a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, the urgent care vet is only there on specific days I was told. Mind you this is also an ER vet and a specialty vet. My question. Is why can’t the ultrasound vet administer a sedation injection? Then I read the confirmation email they sent me and in addition to the 515$ for the ultrasound, they want to charge me an additional 186.00 for the sedation exam plus the cost of the meds, not to mention I have to take time off from work both Monday and Tuesday, as he needs to fast from 6:00 on and I don’t get home from work until 9:00 Monday nights., thid whole experience is just maddening and just insane, thst they need a sedation consult why not just ask for and look over his vet records??? He’s in good health per the most recent blood test, on May 15. It’s not even the money that I’m concerned about the insurance will most likely cover it , it’s just the face that they’re a specialist place but don’t have a regular vet on staff to help out PRN, for situations like this, because I’m sure, I’m not the first nor will I be the last to have this occur. My two Vetrinary practices are far more competent and helpful than this place is, and Takoda’s vet only has one vet that works at the practice. 😡😡😾

                                          • Suzanne, I have been thinking about your questions and don’t have solid answers for you but think it might help to ask beforehand what charges there will be for any services rendered.
It sounds as if you need to find a different emergency hospital but it’s possible it would be farther away. Perhaps speaking with your regular vet will give you guidance.
                                            How is Takoda doing now?

Takoda’s blood tests came back from his annual blood exam visit and his organ function is good but his infection fighting skills have decreased , probably from his irritable bowel disorder I’m going to start him on B-12 injections because my vet said it can’t hurt him. She’s also going to call in an ultrasound referral to my other vet, who has an ultrasound Dr. on premises 1 or 2x per week, as I’m concerned that he may possibly have cancer due to IBD, which hopefully since he hasn’t been officially diagnosed with IBD, the insurance hopefully will cover it. 🙏🙏🙏Either way I want to know one way or the other if he possibly has cancer and if he does hopefully it will be caught early and is treatable. I’d rather be proactive with his health than increase my PTSD, from saying goodbye to one more fur child. 4 in the past 14 months and 7 in the past 4 years was more than sufficient. It’s tough enough that it would have been Kalina’s 1year gotcha day this past May 3rd and she’s gone and May 19 was Morgaine’s 21st heavenly birthday and tomorrow is Spirit’s 4th heavenly birthday. My heart is already heavy with grief and memories of those I’ve said good bye to, I’m not ready to have to say goodbye bye to my Takoda anytime soon. Prayers to all those especially Bernie who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet. May all grieving feel God’s loving healing embrace.

Kaylanee went for her recheck from her dental surgery on April 9, last Thursday April 30 and was told her mouth was looking good and that she healed well. She will however have to have her teeth regularly checked, due to the tooth autoimmune disease, that she has which causes the tooth/root to self absorb. I’m just happy that her quality of life has improved tremendously since I adopted her almost 3 months ago. She is such a sweet loving little girl, who especially likes to lay on me or next to me under the covers, when I go to bed at night. I’m so thankful, that I chose to adopt her, even with all the debt she’s put me in with all her health issues. I hope everyone else is doing well. Bernie, how are your cats doing? Diane how is Lincoln doing and how are you doing? Praying for everyone and their beloved pets.

Kaylanee had successful dental surgery, last Thursday 4/9. With the exception of her canine teeth she had all her upper teeth extracted and some of her bottom ones as well. She has an auto immune tooth disease, which when I find out more about it at her recheck appointment on 4/30, I will share with the community. She’s doing amazingly well post surgery and was eating her wet food before she even received her first dose of her heavy duty narcotic pain medication. I’m wondering if her mouth pre surgery was so painful that she’d just learned to deal with it, that the post dental surgery was a walk in the park because she’s been acting herself and eating everything I give her wet and soggy dry food. While I’m not sure she needed the pain meds I gave them per vet directions and she finished last dose today. I’m wondering if her disinterest in food, the first month I had her was because she was nauseous all the time because once she had the nausea medication injection she hasn’t stopped eating. It’s like she’s a different cat. I still give her the nausea medicine PRN. So far my fundraising attempts to finance her dental surgery, have been a total flop. I have been posting updates almost daily and sharing publicly on Facebook and haven’t even gotten reactions or comments, never mind donations, with the exception of my own donation to see if it worked via FB. I tried posting on my local Nextdoor but it was hidden because evidently fundraising is against their rules. However, I also realize that if I choose to be a pet owner, then that comes with the responsibility of paying for their vet bills.
