My pretty Angel crossed the bridge recently. I still walk by the room I had his night cage thinking I\’m forgetting him. Only to not find him there. He was my funny, and annoying Goffin Cockatoo. My home is so silent now. I miss his dancing and random talking.
-
Martha, the silence can be deafening💔It is hard not to feel a wave of sadness wash over you. Can you try to recall more fun and funny moments when that happens? It is good to cry – it helps get rid of toxins. Exercise can help, too, especially if you can go outside. And talking about your feelings with people who understand is very helpful. I hope you will join our kind group Thursday August 15th and share more with us there, as well as here in our community. We’re here for you, Martha.💕Toni

We are preparing for our annual family Christmas Eve party. While we are busy I often think of my girls. Although I have new girls this year deeply miss my Sheba and Raina. I tried to get the annual Christmas tree picture which proved difficult. I picked out an ornament for Mitsy, they had nothing that quite fit her, so I found a plain white dog and tried to color it to match her. -
Martha posted an update 2 years, 8 months ago
Well Sheba now has her ornament right next to her sister Raina on the tree
Sheba got her name because she acted like a queen from the very beginning. The first queen name that came to mind was The Queen of Sheba.
Raina got her name with the help of my daughter, she had decided that she needed a good strong Rottweiler name. So after a lot of looking we settled on Raina. I later learned that it was the name of another Queen. Although spelled differently.
We also have an unplanned member of our family. Apparently someone had dumped her on the side of the road. Coming home from shopping I almost hit her with my car. WWE did our due diligence had her checked for a microchip, which she didn\’t have. The poor puppy was covered in mud from recent rains and fleas. I brought her home gave her a bath. She now has a microchip and a name and home. We named her Mitsy, the vet thinks she\’s Collie Australian shepherd mix. We think she\’s cute.-
Martha 🤗How good to hear from you. Thank you for sharing the stories behind the names for Raina and Sheba. Makes sense :-). And a HUGE THANK YOU for giving darling Mitsy a loving home 🙌I have to believe the universe drops pets on us whether we think we’re ready or not. The Rolling Stones said it purrrrfectly – “You don’t always get what you want, but you get what you need”. Do you think? I am always so sorry for the losses of our beloved pets and think your ornaments are a lovely tribute. And I am delighted you opened your home and heart to more love with Mitsy! I hope that you all enjoy a brighter holiday now. {HUGS} Toni

Sheba was a character, she was definitely one of a kind ,too smart for her own good loved, going for a ride even if it was only 2ft. -

The two sisters, now my angel babies.. I hope they both know how much they were loved, and the pieces of my heart they took with them.-
Those faces! What expressive pups they were. It looks as if they had a wonderful place to romp and explore. How lucky were they, and you, to share such a fun, loving life💕We wish they could be with us forever. Oh, they knew and know how loved they were. Martha, I hope you are finding more and more smiles with their memories. Thank you for the update, and please continue to share with us. {BIG HUGS} to you all. Toni

These are pictures of all the babies that have gone over the rainbow bridge. From left to right top to bottom. Dot, Spud, Mak, Grumpy, and Raina. The last is of only the fur babies Dot and Spud and Raina. -

My daughter picked her for me at the local adoption center . It was about 6 months after our other two dog went over the rainbow bridge. Dot and Spud, she didn’t want me to be rattling around an empty house missing Spud and Dot. -

Well, I find myself once more lighting a candle this time for Raina\’s sister. One year and 3 1/2 months after her sister went over the rainbow bridge, Sheba joined her. Sheba was 12 ³4 years old. She was our Pearl Harbor day baby. She was 53 days from her 13th birthday. Unfortunately, Mae played alittle to rough and hurt her back severely. Odds weren\’t good for surgery, and because of where we live a wheelchair wasn\’t feasible. It was so hard seeing her in that much pain. It was a hard choice but the right one. Mae is missing her older sister tonight as are the rest of us. Fly high my baby, no more pain. Three first picture is her doing her favorite thing and going for a ride. She would always be our stowaway.-

Thank you, I cried as wrote the post. Also cried last night. There are times Mae triggers memories, because she will do something that Raina would do, it’s getting better but sometimes it still makes me cry. Mae will try to comfort me having no idea that something she did was the trigger for a memory. -

A year ago today I lost my sweet girl. It has been a difficult year. I got a new puppy Mae. She sometimes does things that Raina would do. Today is really difficult though.-
Martha, yep. The anniversaries and holidays are specific dates that bring on big memories. Especially the first year of our saying goodbye. With your sadness, can you find some joy? You don’t have to, but I hope you can include some of the wonderful parts of your time with Raina. She rreally was such a sweetie and joy. I hope you can allow yourself to treasure that, too. Here’s a really big {HUG} for you.
-
Martha, I am so sorry for your loss of Raina. 😞 I know how difficult it was to go through that first year without her and today had to be hard. I and others here are going through it now and it is hard. I wish you and your new pup Mae a wonderfully long and happy life together. Hugs 🫂

Maureen, how are you today? My thoughts are with you. Besides we have a pack together….chin up.
-
Brony, hello! So far today, I’m okay. Yesterday, I had difficult times throughout the day. Thank you for thinking about me and I hope you are doing okay too. Yes, we have a pact and I am trying and I know you are too. I am having a very difficult time, but, I know time is what I need. Sending hugs 🫂
-
Maureen and Brony: I think it is Brilliant that you have ‘partnered’ to support each other as we journey forth. I hope others here in our Community find a partner, or feel that we are ALL partnered. Brilliant!
-
And I’m sending hugs right back. I’m glad today is over, it’s been a rough one for me too. When I sat at the table and looked out the window by the bush was a black and white cat. Well I thought there was a cat it was just lights playing tricks on my brain. When my friend came over she told me thàts where Lulu was buried. I never knew where she was, I didn’t want to know. Lulu was telling me it’s okay a black and white cat needs a home..I’m ok with it. I want you to be happy..I love you Lulu and I’ll never replace you. Ever……Maureen there is a higher power out there. Brony
-
Hi Brony, I haven’t been on much and just now seeing your post. I hope you are doing better today. Maybe you did see your Lulu that day and maybe that was a sign from her. I don’t believe in coincidences. Everything happens for a reason. If you feel that Lulu would want you to give another kitty a safe and loving home, then you should take all the love in your heart and honor her by doing that. I am not ever going to do that, but, I support everyone who does. Today, so far, I only cried once. I know I will have some more episodes today, but, I know I am now in the “waves of grief” part of grief. It will be 6 months next week and I can’t believe it.
Hugs to you, Brony 🫂 -
Oh Maureen it makes my heart hurt. I wish you lived nextdoor so I could run and give you a hug. I don’t believe in coincidences either. Everything happens for a reason. There is a reason you met me. I’m not sure what that is but I was blessed in meeting you. Keep your chin up and know I’m always thinking of you. May you get plenty of hugs. Pretend they are from me.. Brony (I see a kitty outside, in the morning it’s there and goes to bed at dark. Watching over me. That’s the only explanation I could find)

In just alittle over a month it will be the one year anniversary of Raina\’s death. While Mae keeps us on our toes. The night before last, at about 2 am I heard tags jingling in the livingroom. Both Mae and Sheba were in our bedroom. I have to believe that Raina was paying us a visit. Checking and making sure the house was safe.I still find it hard to talk about her without crying.-
Yes, the anniversaries bring up strong memories and emotions. How sweet to get a “jingle”. I hope that comforts you. We say it all the time, because it’s true – they are never with us long enough, and the stronger the love the deeper the pain. You are lucky to have Mae and Sheba to share your love now, and Raina is surely happy for your generosity in opening your home and heart to them. Light another candle for Raina on the anniversary, and don’t forget to celebrate the day you met, too! There was a lot of joy in between those dates. Toni

It\’s spring so to speak, we\’re hatching chickens and turkeys. Mae is obsessed with the new chick (chicken). I wish I could trust her like I did my Raina. The last photo is of Raina and our chicks. She licked every chick that hatched on our ranch, after we took them out of the incubator. The other photos are of Ma on the golf cart the VA uses to shuttle people to their cars. She did very well.-
Mae is quite the mascot, Martha. She reminds me of our old dog, Moses. When I was about six, daddy brought chicks home and Mosie just loved them like his own little babies. How sweet. The VA should really give Mae a title. “Official Mascot” or something. Keep us posted on Mae and the chicks, and thank you for sharing this cheery story and photos. Toni
