@mari15 Marilyn, I am sorry for your parting from Splinter. What a neat name – how did you get that> What kind of pet was Splinter? May we see photos and hear about Splinter? Are you doing okay? I hope so. Toni
-
Marilyn, I know it’s really hard and hurts, but the pictures of him show how happy he was – he has so many looks. Your family did a wonderful thing to share a happy, safe and loving home and life with Splinter (love the name, and thanks for explaining how he came by it). Do you think you will open your home and hearts to another?

Suzanne, that is the most touching tribute and truly honors Autumn Ranger and Spirit. Thank you for sharing your experiences and deepest feelings. You must let us know how you are coming along, and when you find two sweethearts to share with. I’m inclined to adopt seniors, too. You might try Fostering – it allows you to get to know each other and find out if you have a special connection. Oh, thank you for extending your kind, caring understanding with others in our community, like Regina. We all hurt when one hurts, and it helps to know we care. Sending you {{HUGS}}. Toni -

How fabulous of you, Regina, to share with so many dachs. They sure are cute and have a lot of personality. Who’s the big rabbit :-)??? -

Oh my, Martha…Mae is too cute. I’m smiling and laughing just looking at her. How very kind of your friends and husband. You have to share stories and photos or videos of Mae with us. We know she is not a “replacement” for Raina, she is her own pup and you will have a special loving relationship with her, too. We are all so delighted for you, and to have Mae as a new community member :-)…..here’s a {{smooch}} from me :-).Toni -

She is super cute ๐ Looks like a fun goofball, and you look very happy. How kind of you to keep your home and heart open to more love. What’s her name? Tell us about your other pus, too. Congrats to you all! -

Oh Regina, my girl slept tucked under my chin every night and when she died I was fortunate to have a stuffed cat that I tucked in. Obviously that’s not a replacement but it sure helped me.
Geez, it seems like dark clouds really do “gather” and come in groups. I am so sorry for what you are going through, and you WILL go through it all, but it’s wearying on every level for you now. Please, try to take some moments for yourself – to grieve but also to find a bit of joy or humor. We’re here. Keep reaching out to us, and know I am thinking of you. -

You have a kind husband. He, and you, and we, know you carry Raina with you in your heart, soul and thoughts. You’re not “escaping”, you are opening yourselves to new smells, colors, events and environments by going elsewhere and I hope it does you all good – think it will. Getting out of our heads and homes can help a lot. And I think you should allow yourself to cry when you need to, and maybe bring something of hers along, to hold and comfort you ???? Martha, this takes time, and I hope a change of place will allow you and your husband to be present in those moments together. Please, let us know how it’s going, or how it went. It may help others to hear about it. I’ll definitely be thinking of you. Toni -

I still got a few tears looking at her picture. Her color looks so much lighter in this one! How is your son holding up? You, and he, are welcome to join our Group tomorrow (Thursday July 21st) at 8PM Eastern. It’s good to talk about it and share if you like.
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86749211396?pwd=SGtLRno3NG55TGQvVGNWTzd5VnhHdz09Trinity has only had wings for a short time and she will always be with you in your thoughts and hearts. I hope in time your memories will bring smiles before tears. You and your son may find comfort in creating a memorial to her: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/
I am glad to hear from you and hope you will keep us updated about how you are all doing. We’re here for. Toni

Carmelina, do not do anything for which you are not ready. It’s a big thing to bring another into your home and heart and there’s no telling when you may be ready again. I had Boots for a few months after my BG died and he really helped me recover from that (I still miss her terribly and grieve, but with joy and less pain for sure), but Boots went back to his lady and I am not ready for another relationship now either. I know someone who lost her beloved dog over twenty years ago and is just now opening herself to another loving pet relationship. I feel bad for her that the fear of loss denied her the many joys of pet partnering for all these years, but I certainly understand, and it is totally up to us when, or if, we can share again. So my dear friend, we support you in every way and remain here for you to share with us as you move forward. If you can join us tomorrow, great! But if not, know we’ll be thinking of you. We won’t meet in August so let’s plan on an August group get together. Here’s another {{HUG}} for you, Carmelina :-). Toni
OH! Maybe you will find comfort sharing your own kind understanding and support with others here in our community who are hurting. Just scroll through and post your caring thoughts if you like. -

Regina, that is so tough – so much loss and sadness, and in such a short time. You must be aching and empty, and emotionally exhausted. What are you doing to take care of yourself? I hope knowing we are here for you brings you some comfort. Please let us know how you are. I’ll be thinking of you. Toni -

@msurber15 Hi Martha. I know today is a terribly hard day for you. This past month has been so very sad and painful with Raina’s parting. We are thinking of you with sincere sympathy, and send you our support. Toni

Thank you, yes today is hard. I had pictures as memories come up in my Facebook feed. It feels like my heart is breaking all over again. We are taking a trip this weekend because my husband seems to think it I’ll be good for me. All I can think of is a trip without her.
