I’m with you about not putting them through extreme measures, especially when they are older. I’m facing that with Walter right now, and it helps to think of what is best for them, not us. And no, you can’t replace a pet with another. You CAN open your home and heart to a new love, but no one will “replace” Ricky. It may be some time before you are ready to do that. Or, what happened to me – a cat needed a home after my BG died and I took him in. I didn’t think I was ready, and I really didn’t want another pet yet, but it truly took me out of my blues and pain by having him. Now I have another cat who’s person died and he is old and sick. It’s easy to fall in love, brutal to say goodbye. Please don’t let anyone pressure you into doing anything. Come to our group meeting and you’ll hear similar stories from others. It can help a lot. Let us know how you are doing. It takes time, Donna, and we’re here for you. Toni -

Oh Amanda, I am sorry. One thing we encourage is to celebrate birth and adoption dates, not only remembering the date we said goodbye. Perhaps you can try that. An exercise we use is to recall at least one fun or funny thing from our times rogether when the tears take over. Talk with us about your babies with our kind, understanding group meeting on April 20th. And keep sharing with us here. Sending you {HUGS} Toni -

Janell, this was Isaac? I am so very sorry. Was he always diabetic? Is nine years a fairly good life span for a diabetic kitty? If you can enlighten us with information about that, it would be important, meaningful and very kind of you. May we see some pictures of your sweet Isaac? We’re glad you came to our caring community and hope you’ll join our group meeting April 20th . Toni -

What a shock, Donna. It’s understandable that you are numb. I have a friend whose cat was sitting in his lap, he went to the garage and came right back in, and the cat was dead. The vet didn’t know what happened but suspected a heart failure. It happened in literally two minutes. As awful as it is for you, Donna, perhaps it was best for Ricky. There must have been an underlying condition. I am just so sorry for this. Please come to our kind and caring group meeting April 20th. We are here for you with sympathy and understanding, Donna. {HUGS} Toni -

Donna, what a strange and sad story. When you say Ricky was “gone”, what do you mean? Did he die? Or did he leave? Either way, what a sad thing for you and I am very sorry. Please Donna, tell us more, and know we are here for you with arms open. Toni -

@rmgraiver Shogun. What a unique and cool name, Robyn. What kind of pet was Shogun? How did you come to that name? May we see some pictures, and hear about Shogun? Toni
-
Robyn, that is an unusual name – Shogun. And I am sure there comes a story with it. Please tell us! You will find open hearts here to hear about your loss and wish you well.
-
Shogun is named after a Brazilian MMA fight that is a favorite of my husbands. We have been on vacation this week and I’m afraid to go home. We left him at his boarding place and he died while we were away. I feel so guilty, but I hate knowing we are going back to an empty house without him. It’s been tough, but also a good distraction for us being with family this week.

Wow, Susan, you are clearly a kind, caring, thoughtful and generous person. To recognize that giving George a peaceful passing is truly a selfless act of love. Godfrey makes me think of a friend’s cat who was fine one moment, then just died. They surmise it was heart failure but it was without any notice or symptoms. I guess sometimes we just don’t know. I am, we are, truly happy to welcome you to our community and look forward to seeing your photos of all your “kids”. And Susan, if you would like to join our monthly group meeting April 20th, we’d love to hear more. You’ll get an email with the log-in info and details. Hang in there, Susan, and share more with us. {BIG HUGS} Toni -

@sdgoga Hello and welcome to our caring community, Susan. Please tell us about your life with George, and share some photos if you like. How are you doing? Okay, I hope? Toni

Hello Toni, and thank you for your warm welcome. George was a very special bunny of mine. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge in May, 2022. George’s daddy, Bee Bee, was a special needs bunny, like George. Bee Bee crossed the Bridge in 2021. I really miss them. I’ve lost so many bunnies, cats, and chickens over the years. I find as I age, their losses impact me so much, much more. I currently have 7 senior bunnies, 4 cats , and 8 chickens, of which 2 are roosters. I also lost my husband, mother, and sister all within a year’s time. My animals are all I have left. I don’t know what I’d do without them. George was a white Jersey Wooly bun. He was such a gentle little soul. He developed an inner ear problem or tumor that wasn’t responding to medical treatment. My awesome veterinarian tried every possible treatment, He deteriorated and then couldn’t support himself, even though he still was eating somewhat. It was an excruciating difficult decision; however, in George’s best interest,…

What a sweetie. I am so sorry you had to say goodbye, Kaitlynn, but it looks as if Carly Mae enjoyed a wonderful life of love with you. It’s what we hope for – love, fun, joy, and spoiling of course. They’re only “on loan” to us and never for long enough. Was she older when she passed? How did you meet her? Are you moving through your grief okay? Can you smile with your memories? We’re thinking of you. {{HUGS}} Toni -

Digger was a pomeranian jack Russell mix dog. He was 14 years old when he passed this week. Honestly not holding up at all… he is missed greatly!!
