Exciting news! Our website is being refreshed and updated to provide even more ways to celebrate and remember our beloved pets. We will have a new look, expanded memorial products and more ways to share our stories. Yesterday was Takoda’s three year gotcha day. He also turned five on his unofficial birthday in late May. My sweet boy was rescued off the streets of Syracuse by one of the many fosters who volunteer with the CNY Cat Coalition. (C. C. ). I’d just gotten back from a 6 Hour drive from New Hampshire where I gone for a four-day weekend to visit my family and started scrolling on Facebook instead of preparing for bed as I was exhausted and had work in the morning. As I scrolled on Facebook, a poster of cats posted by the CNY CC shut up on my feed I have never seen a poster of cats from them since and this was the first one I’ve ever seen also, normally they only post pictures of individual cats that are available for adoption. As I looked at the pictures of each cat, a black cat named Curtis caught my eye I knew nothing about him not even his age. I just knew I had to have him because he reminded me of my Saraya, that I had to say goodbye to on January 9, 2023 who despite being in good health had given up and died of a broken heart after she lost her two bonded sisters within less than two months of each other. Despite being tired I immediately filled out the online adoption application. I was informed his foster would contact me shortly with more information. That was on June 4 of 2023, on 6/8/23, I went to meet Takoda and welcome him to his new forever home. I adopted him in memory of my Saraya, as I tell each cat, as I say goodbye to them that I’ll adopt another cat in their memory that needs a loving forever home as they once did. He’s a sweet, loving boy who likes to sleep next to my head in bed, enjoys sitting and cuddling with me and looking out the window out of my three cats that I presently have he’s my talker and quite loud and boisterous when he has something to say. How is everyone doing? We’re coming into warmer weather and the chance of storms that can scare pets with thunder and lightning. If you can, during a storm, keep your pets in a quiet place, maybe play some comforting music, speak softly and offer favorite treats. Please share your suggestions for safeguarding pets.

Have your pets changed THEIR time clocks? Have you noticed a change in the times your little loved ones are awakening or asking to be fed? Most animals, including humans, are sensitive to the sun and our internal clocks are disturbed by the clock changing, but our pets don’t follow clocks – they follow the sun cycles. Don’t worry – we will all adjust and adopt new routines, so please don’t be upset with your pets if their timing is a bit different for a week or so.
Please always feel welcome to share your stories and updates with us, especially how you are coping with the passing of a beloved baby. If you haven’t joined a group meeting, I really hope you will join us at least once to talk about your experience and feelings with our kind, understanding friends.
YOU make our community work so please share your support and insights with others here who need support through their grief. We are here for everyone who wants to celebrate, and remember our beloved babies. Toni

One more week of January, and hopefully these extraordinary cold temperatures. Remember, if you’re cold, they’re cold, so take extra care to keep our pets warm and hydrated.
Each month we meet on line to share our stories and I truly hope more of you will take advantage of being with others who share your love of animals, are going through challenging times with beloved babies, have said goodbye and are healing, or are celebrating the joy of a new faithful friend. You can stay as long as you like, share as little or as much as you need, and know we are always here to support you. We meet the third ofThursday each month at 7PM Eastern (4PM Pacific).
