      • Hello, I’m do OK and juicy fruit was my weiner dogs name
        • I’m happy to hear you are doing alright, Tina. Saying goodbye is so hard even when it’s definitely their time to leave. On Saturdays at a local park there is a gathering of dachsunds and I call it the Hot Dog Stand :-). They’re so cute and energetic. You can tell us about your life with Juicy Fruit, and share photos if you like. Nice to have you in our community. Toni

How kind of you, Sigrid. I’m looking through your beautiful urns. Walter is actually playing with me today! He seems to still be doing okay. I watch him carefully for indications of discomfort. I really appreciate your caring. {HUG} Toni

Kat, I would never recommend getting a new pet until you are “ready” but I took in a young cat last year only ten days after my BG died and it completely changed the way I felt about her passing. It made me realize that she and I shared a fabulous life for as long as we were given, and that another baby needed a life of love and kindness. Bailie is not a “replacement” for Pooh, she is a new life of love for you to share. Don’t you think Pooh would be thrilled for you both? I do. And we will always love our darlings and can find smiles and warmth with oir memories of them. Please share some pictures of both Pooh and Bailie and tell us everything about Bailie when she comes home to you. How generous of you to open your home and heart to another. Toni

Maureen, nothing I say can change your grief but I hope it helps a bit to know how sad I am for your sudden and shocking loss. It seems Romeo didn’t suffer a long, lingering passing, and that is something to be grateful for, for his sake. It’s truly a heartbreak that our beloved friends are only on loan to us, never for long enough – forever wouldn’t be long enough. I agree it helps to talk and receive support and kind understanding, and I hope you will try our group April 20th. Your lethargy and desire to be alone are things I have exoerienced, too. People want to be helpful but I just wanted to be alone for awhile. It may benefit you to write a letter of love and joy to Romeo, and we have a journal/book that may help you : https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/griffins-heart-pet-loss-book/
Please accept my sympathy and a {{HUG}}. And know we are here for you.
                          💔 Toni

I recently lost my Romeo and I am so broken. It happened so suddenly and I didn\’t even have a chance to do anything or even say goodbye. It was a normal morning. He woke up his tail was wagging as usual, smiling and happy. I cuddled him and then let him out to peeand he came back I. And went straight to his bowl to eat as I stood thereunder made my coffee. We always just went right into our bedroom to settle in, watch the news and he would come over to get a taste of my coffee too. But, not this day. As I walked in he was just standing there staring and I said \”Boobah, c\’mon baby, let\’s go\”. He didn\’t move and as I passed him I saw that he peed. I thought he just had a little accident and I said \” what happened baby, you just went out, did you have an accident\”? He never did that so I looked at him, and he didn\’t look right. I got scared and picked him up and just started to panic and kept asking him what was wrong….he let out the most pitiful cry and then I saw him losi g co trol of his little head and his eyes were rolling around . I put him on our bed and started crying and hugging him and then he pooped. I knew what that meant, but, I couldn\’t think that he would be dead, but, he was. All this in a matter of seconds. I screamed and cried and I couldn\’t believe that he was dead. He was just fine seconds ago and now he\’s gone? No, no, no….please God no. I was numb and out of my mind and panicky and picked him up and ran across the street to my brothers house screaming that Romeo was dying, but, he was already gone and my brother knew it it was just me who couldnt believe it. 💔
Romeo was 14 and very healthy for his age according to his Vet who we had just seen. He said Romeos blood work was great and he\’s probably be around for a while longer. So, I never even gave it thought that Romeo was dying in that moment. I don\’t know what caused him to die. I never had a chance to say goodbye. My heart is shattered. Romeo was my whole world and he saved me by coming into my life when I did t want to live anymore. I never loved anything as much as I loved my boy and I don\’t want to be in a world without him. I don\’t care if I ever wake up again. I\’ve been trying to overcome this horrible pain, but, I have lost my will, to do anything. I don\’t want to go anywhere, see or talk to anyone and just want to be alone. I\’ve been part of a few of these grief groups and although it does help to give and receive comfort from people going through the same thing, my grief still overwhelms me. Thank you for listening and I wish everyone here on this site peace and comfort for healing of your broken hearts. 💔

It’s been almost 2 months since I lost Pooh and the grief is still here. The tears still flow and I get a lump in my throat when people ask about Pooh not knowing she passed. I don’t want to replace her and know I can’t, but I can continue the love I have for her. In May I will be bringing an 8wk old puppy into my home. I have named her Bailie and she has already put a smile in my heart. I know I will still miss Pooh and nothing can take that away, but I know I continue her legacy with sharing my love with another sheltie girl. I will keep in touch with all of you and let you know how I’m doing.

Here is my Cody, he was a Sheltie. Even though it’s been over a year since we lost him, it’s still breaks my heart, thinking that I could have done more for him.

Rachel, I am so sorry you lost Alphonse. The name makes me think he had quite the personality. Did he? I would like to hear how he was. He clearly had your heart. Talking about him, describing him will keep you connected and over time may slowly change from grief to appreciation that you had him in your life. Best wishes to you!

Hi Maryann, it’s Sigrid again. It takes a lot of time to heal. And I was wondering if you could pour the love you have for Penny into some cause that needs it, at a shelter for example or tending to feral cats in your neighborhood. I think in addition to missing Penny you also have no place or being to give your love to. It will not bring her back but you could dedicate your helpful activities to her, to honor her and to be grateful that she was in your life. This is no advice, just something I saw a neighbor do when her cat passed. She now takes good care of the feral cats around here, has them spayed or neutered, feeds them and finds homes for them. They would be lucky to have you.

I feel better about Walter now. His doctor confirmed what the oncologist said which is to watch for him to stop eating, losing weight and not having an interest in doing anything. I think it will be fairly obvious when Walter is ready to say goodbye. She also said it is not common for masses to rupture, which greatly relieves my concern. Thank you for your caring and comments. I’ll be updating as things progress. And please, update us about YOUR babies. Toni

Toni I’m just so sad. Penny is gone 6 weeks now and I don’t think I will ever get over losing her. I had to make the decision to let her go and it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. I jyst miss her terribly. She was my best friend.
