Toni I wanted to come to the meeting tonight but I was unable to find a zoom link anywhere on my emails from you. Not sure what happened to it. I even went to the website and still couldn’t find it. -

I love this group and really appreciate all the support and understanding it provides I just wish I didn’t have to be back here posting again, less than, 4 months after suddenly saying good bye to my Oliver on March 29. Last Friday July 26, I had to suddenly say good bye to my sweet toothless 13 year old senior Kalina, who became part of my family on May 4, 2025. In the short time Kalina was a part of the family she made a huge impact on our lives and made an even bigger hole in my heart, which was already grieving Oliver’s sudden passing in March. While I knew I was on borrowed time with you I never expected to lose you so suddenly. Knowing what I know about your life prior to your being rescued by Lisa your foster mom, then letting me become your human I knew you’d had a hard life. I’m sure your previous human tried, she just fell on hard times and her roommate obviously didn’t care about animals at all or she never would’ve thrown you and your sister into a basket and placed you on the porch on a frigid cold February night. I hope in the short time you allowed me to be your human mom that you felt loved, cherished and cared for. I hope you’ll forgive me for constantly putting food in your face to encourage you to eat, but I only did what I thought was best looking back, I realize now that you’re disinterest in food was because your body had begun to shut down; you were slowly dying on me. I hope at least when you chose to eat that you enjoyed your favorite treat, Churros lickables. I will never forget how you’d remind me to give one to you each night before bed. Thank you for being a wonderful senior companion to Sebastian, who like me is also mourning your passing and the passing of his bonded brother Oliver, on March 29 of this year. While your time with us was brief You really encouraged and helped Sebastian to become less timid. Thanks to yours and Sebastian‘s brief companionship, he’s now venturing out from under the recliner more frequently and spending quality time with his human. I’m thankful that Sebastian and I were able to be there to say goodbye to you as you peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge to be reunited with your bonded sister, that you lost earlier in March while I never met her I’m sure she was as sweet and precious as you were. you were only a part of our family for a few short months but the hole that you left in my heart will take a long time to heal. I will when the time is right, and my heart is healed some adopt another senior cat in your memory, as a companion for Sebastian, who is in need of a loving forever home , as you once were. Your heartbroken mom, Sebastian and you’re annoying fur brothers, Takoda and Oreo.-
💔😪Oh Suzanne, how heartbreaking. I am sharing tears with you as I write this and want you to know how special you are to care so much for so many loving little lives. It only takes a moment to fall in love, and a lifetime to cherish whatever time we are lucky to share. I adopted Walter when his human died and he was only with me five months. He was 15 and had a fast growing malignant tumor. I loved himdearly and I ache when I remember how sweet and wonderful he was, but, like you and Kalina, he had a loving, safe, comfortable, and I hope somewhat fun, end of life with me. It is good that you know how much better Kalina’s life was in your loving care, and I am glad you wrote such a heartfelt letter to her. Please light as many candles as you like for Kalina and Oliver. Please give Sebastian and the others hugs and pets from me. We are always here for you. I hope to see you again at the monthly meeting August 21st. I am thinking of you with sympathy. Toni -
Suzanne, I am so, so sorry for your loss of Kalina 💔

Update on Kalina, last Tuesday I posted that I was taking my 13 year old Kalina to the vet for a quality of life check, as she wasn’t really eating or drinking much. I was extremely worried, that I was going to have to say good bye to her. Thankfully, I was able to get into see her regular vet. He told me since she was still quite active that he didn’t believe she was suffering. He gave her a B-12 injection and a pain medicine.injection. While she’s still not eating as well as I’d like her to, she’s eating small amounts of puréed kitten food and a stew like food of which she mostly just licks the broth out but occasionally she will eat some of that food also. She’s also back to enjoying her churro treat, which she’d previously lost interest in too. She will be going for another blood draw/test to check on her white blood cell count, July 17 which was of concern to my vet when she went for her wellness exam , June 13. Every day extra I have with her is precious Even though I’ve only had her for 2 1/2 months she’s already stolen my heart,it would be devastating to loose her both for myself and for my 12 year old rescue, Sebastian. I adopted Kalina as a companion for him, as he lost his bonded brother of 12 years. In the 2 months Kalina has been with us, he has become a more confident, less timid cat, although the two of them still spend a lot of time hiding under the recliner or under the futon when the 3 and 4 year old cats are out and about. Since Kalina has come into Sebastian’s life I now frequently find him sitting on one of the cat trees looking out the window, while Kalina lays on the window sill. Just thankful for all the prayers, positive thoughts for her and I. Please know I hold all members of this group in my thoughts and prayers and while I’m not good at always commenting on posts I’m with you all in spirit and am very thankful for this group. Hoping to join the group meeting this Thursday. The photo of her laying in my bathroom sink is one of her new go to spots.-
Sending positive thoughts your way!

Wow, Suzanne, you and your ittle darlings are going through so much. I am glad to hear that Kalina is feeling better, and that she and Sebastian are warming to each other😊You are so kind to open your home and heart to a senior kitty, and yes, it only takes a moment to fall in love💕I truly hope you can join us Thursday. You can stay as long or little as you like but I do think it helps to meet and share with those of us who care in this community. I would love to meet you and look forward to hearing your update 😻Toni

Good morning,
This is my dear sweet 13 year old toothless Kalina, whom I adopted May 4, of this year, in memory of my Oliver, who unexpectedly passed on March 29, 2025. I also rescued this sweet petite little senior as a companion, for Oliver’s 12 year old bonded brother Sebastian, so he wouldn’t be lonely and terrorized by his 3/4 year old brothers. Based on the brief history I received from The foster mom of Kalina, she had a rough life. She was found abandoned on a freezing cold February night of this past year weighing less than 5 lbs and her sister who was found with her passed due to cancer. I knew adopting a senior cat was a risk but I chose to do so anyway. Since adopting her I’ve learned that she has irritable bowel disease, kidney disease and possibly cancer. Over the last couple of weeks, Kalina has been loosing interest in food but continued to drink like a fish, I would refill The water bowl regularly. Over this past weekend, she’s basically showing. No interst interest in food and has stopped guzzling water.Shes even for the most part lost interest in her favorite churros treats. Knowing she liked churros I decided to purchase some puréed wet food to see if I could persuade her to eat, little to no interest; someday bringing her tongue vet for a quality of life exam, knowing that most likely, Sebastian and I will be going home sigh out her. I have to say being a pet parent really sucks when you have to make difficult decisions like this. However, one thing I’ve learned having loose 4 cays in less than 3 years is a day early is better than a day late. Oliver suffered terribly as did myself and the other cats in the house because I waited 12 hours to say good bye to him because I wanted Sebastian there when he passed because I’m didn’t want to have him die of a broken heart as I’ve based happen in the past when my 16 year old , in good health , per vet, gave up and died of a broken heart after she lost her two bonded sisters with in. less than two months of each other. So please know while I pray for all of you I ask for prayers for myself for Kalina for Sebastian, who is doing so well with his new companion for Takoda and Oreo. as we prepare to probably come home to a less than full house today. it just amazes me how fast we pet parents become so attached to our beloved pets in such a short period of time and what a big gaping hole they leave in our hearts when we lose them. I will try to keep everyone updated as to what’s going on, but I don’t know if I’m gonna have the emotional stability to be able to do that today so it may be a while before I’m able to come back on and post again.-
Oh Suzanne, how heartbreaking. You have purrrfectly expressed how difficult it is to assess what is best for our beloved babies. My vet says “better too early than too late”, but it is often so hard for us to know exactky how they are doing. You are a very kind, caring mom to open your home and heart to so many, and take such good care of them. I’m glad you’re going to the vet with Kalina and will let them guide you in the best path for her, even though it is so painful for you. That is the most loving, selfless act of a pet parent. It takes a minute to fall in love for a lifetime, and it hurts in a way nothing else can to say goodbye. We are here for, and with you, Suzanne. When you are up to it, please let us know how you are all doing. I will be thinking of you with hope, and sympathy. {{HUGS}} Toni

My sweet, sassy Saraya, whom I lost on January 9, of 2023, from a broken heart after loosing her two bonded sisters Spirit, 5/23/22 and Autumn Ranger July 18, 2022, would have been 19 years old this month. I had her for 16 years and am missing her and my other beloved cats whom I’ve lost over the years including Morgain in 2005, Kovu unknown year of passing, Eragon in 2012 and most recently my beloved soul cat Oliver, March 29, 2025. While you may be gone you are not forgotten. Until we meet again my fur babies. Tomorrow is world pet Memorial Day June 11. Please know I’m holding each and every one of you who’ve lost a beloved pet in prayer, that all of you may feel God’s loving healing embrace.
