To every pet parent whose beloved fur baby passed away,I am deeply sorry for your loss.I completely understand your heartache as 1 year ago, I lost my 15& 1/2 year old best friend from cancer.She was my best friend and traveling companion.My heart breaks along with whomever lost their beloved family member.

She is not having diarrhea like I said she was,her stool is soft, definitely not runny anymore.-

We do this so that our donors know exactly where their money is going, and there is no risk of fraud. Hi Toni.Well she is eating but not as much as I would like,but baby steps.I cannot do any fundraiser as I am on SSI and they can check into my bank account.-

My mama cat is eating.
I am having second thoughts about putting her to sleep.I am going to try and raise the money to find out what is going on with her.-

Mama George has not been to the vet yet as I have been in self quarantine for 14 days because my son and daughter both had Covid.I was vaccinated and self quarantined for my sake.My mama cat’s quality of life is not improving at all.Now she is forgetting how to use her litter box.I woke up yesterday and nearly fell because she vomited all over my kitchen floor.
The decision I have to make, isn’t easy,and I feel bad,but she cannot live like this anymore.-
Should you take her sooner rather than make her live through this?

Crystal and Toni,thank you.I definitely know something is wrong with mama cat.I have an appointment at the end of the month to have mama put to sleep.As of now,I see her not getting better.I do not know what to do.She is starting to eat,but still is having runny poo.Now she isn’t using her litter box,and it is always clean.My heart is tearing into many pieces as she cannot continue to live this way.It isn’t fair to her.

Dianne, you love her enough to help her find release and relief. Your love is unselfish enough to let her be in peace while you bear the pain of parting. What did the Vet say? And you know what – no one knows her better than you, so talk to your kitty about it, and if it’s time to make her comfortable, don’t let her suffer. I hope my words help you. We all care about your kitty, her quality of life, and you.

Well my sweet old girl is eating,and even though she is thin,I do not have it in me to put her to sleep.She has had runny poo,but is more like soft ice cream.I love mama dearly,but I just cannot put her to sleep unless the vet feels it is necessary.
My two year old cat came home.-

My two year old cat ran away.He was born toa feral mom,and he didn’t want to stay inside.I am heartbroken.
I have second thoughts about having my mama cat put to sleep.Yes she is very skinny,and is wanting to eat,but she still has bouts of runny diarrhea.I just don’t know what to do as I only get a certain amount of money from SSI every month.I love mama cat very much.I do not want to end her life if it can be avoided.-
My friends’ cat had that kind of diarrhea and was diagnosed with lymphoma. She is doing well, takes a chemo pill daily and they expect her to survive a year or two. Please contact http://www.waggle.org for help with payments – I don’t know what they will do to help you, but mention Toni at Faithful Friends sent you. Let us know what you find out. Another friends’ cat ran away and sauntered back home after two weeks, so yours may come home….let’s hope. Dianne, keep us posted. Sending you BIG HUGS

I am heartbroken for the decision I have to make,and I wonder if she knows because she keeps putting her face into mine,something she’s never done before.Her appointment is on the 7th of September.I have to do this.This is heartbreaking.Thank you for asking Toni.-
Years ago, my 19 year old was failing and I took her to a hospital on a Friday night (this was before in-home euthanasia was available) and told them it was time. They said she just needed antibiotics. Well, I still resent that poor little Squirt had to live that last week – she was miserable, suffering, and it wasn’t in her best interest to keep going. Exactly one week later she was bleeding from every orifice, her heart was jumping out of her chest, and I took her to her own vet and gave her relief from her suffering. She probably knew, and I am certain she was grateful. We are the ones left behind to grieve the loss but I truly believe they think we’re being silly and want us to be happy for the lives we shared. Which we will be once we move through the pain and indeed, heartbreak of parting. She’s probably letting you know it’s okay and trying to comfort, and thank you. We’ll be here.

Dianne, I wouldn’t mention this but think it may help you: My mother had ALS and desperately wanted relief from it. Human euthanasia was not legal so my sister and I couldn’t help ease her way and grant her a peaceful exit, for which she would have been grateful. So no, if anything, your selflessness is a gift to your girl, for which she will be grateful, and will always love you.

I am having to make “that” decision no pet parent wants to do.I have to have my 13 year old mama cat put to sleep next week.Before anyone asks why, I live on a fixed,monthly income and after paying my rent and other utilities,I do not have have extra money left.I am doing the best that I can.
My mama cat does not want to eat and is becoming very thin.Yes,I feed her twice a day.
Her quality of life is declining.
I have had her since she was 7 weeks old,and could fit into the palm of my hand.No negativity,please.I am beyond super stressed and sick feeling.-
Just read this. I am so sorry Dianne. Making that decision is the hardest thing. There is zero shame in not wanting your animal to suffer — ok? 13 years is a beautiful life and you will know when she’s had enough. Be proud of yourself for loving her this much. She knows you do.
I’m so glad this site exists if only for people like you.
I’m sending so much love to you and your girl. 💛

Reagan says it beautifully. The decision to do what’s best for her is the ultimate act of kindness and generosity, even while it breaks your own heart. It sounds as if she is choosing not to eat – a sign that her system is shutting down, just as in humans. If that was not the case, I’d send you to our friends at http://www.waggle.org to seek financial support. They help pay vet bills when needed. But it seems like your baby is ready to go. To all the new pet parents,welcome.I am sorry for your loss.I totally understand your heartache.I lost my best girl who was 15.5 years old to cancer last April 16th.She would have turned 16 on June 4th.

Hi Dianne, it’s so good to hear from you. The anniversaries bring so many memories and can be tough, but can also bring so much happiness. My girl (17 yr. 5 mo.) is still doing well, for which I am grateful. You are so nice to reach out to everyone – we are here to support one another and even after the truly brutal times after the initial loss, even little things can stir up a lot of emotion. I hope you have been reading some of our member’s posts – some are funny, some bring me to tears. Feel welcome to comment on any you find meaningful. Stay in touch, Sweetie 🙂

My friend Jennifer,whose beloved Princess passed away suddenly last Friday,is doing so-so.She is grieving and I am giving her time to do so.I told her she should come here,where we as pet parents understand her loss.

Toni in the last two years,my friend’s dog had diabetes and for some unknown reason had both eyes removed.My friend Jennifer said it had something to maybe do with her liver,but my friend said her dog’s abdomen was very distended.This dog was my friend’s entire existance.-

My Bessie’s birthday would have been on June 4th and she would have been 16 years old.My heart has a big piece that went with her when she went to the Bridge.I always think of her and will always love and miss her

Dianne, yes, of course you will. Birthdays and anniversaries always stir up our thoughts and memories more than usual. Last night a human friend of mine died at 36 and, while it doesn’t help when I think of my old (17 year old) cat failing, it DOES give me perspective on the life cycle, how none of us know how much time we get, and to embrace life and joy while we can. Bessie most definitely loved, and loves you, too, and wants you to keep her always in your heart while you allow yourself happiness in her memory. Let us know how you are doing, Dianne.

It’s nice, and I know how important a memorial is, Dianne. It can really help heal. Just click the “Memorials” tab at the top of this page.
