    Colleen, no one should experience this and I am devasted you and Boomer did. You have suffered a tremendous loss and shock. It sounds as if you have someone with you to support you. That’s good, but you might find it helpful to speak with a trauma specialist. Should you choose to do that, please let me know if I can assist you. This is such a sad thing to read and I can’t imagine the pain you are experiencing. Please come to our online group meeting June 15th. You don’t have to speak, but if you want to share with us, we are here for you, as we are here for you in our caring community. You will be in my thoughts with deep sympathy, and best wishes for healing. 💔Very sincerely, Toni

        Oh Karen, grief moves at it’s own pace and losing such a big part of your life and heart takes time to remember the good times. You are very welcome to join our group support meeting Thursday, June 15th, We’d love to hear more. Details and log-in are under “Events”. We’re here for you, Karen. Toni

          Stephanie, What happened to Lenox that was so sudden? You may see Colleen’s post about the tragic event with her beloved Boomer. It’s terrible to say goodbye under any circumstance, but when something suddenly happens it is truly horrific and the pain of loss is magnified by the trauma. Please tell us what happened and what you are doing to cope. I am so very sorry, Stephanie. Toni

            Karen, some years ago I said goodbye to my Squirt who was 19 and we spent all those years together sharing EVERYTHING. It was terribly hard but tremendously rewarding to have had her be a big part of my life. How fortunate for you and Spooky to have shared a long life of love. I am so sorry for your loss because I understand the mix of emotions – happily heartbroken, if you know what I mean. Please sow us some pictures. I hope you join us Thursday June 15th – I’d love to meet you. Sending you a {Big Hug}

              How touching it must have been for you, Sally – to have Callie come to you, to bring you joy, love and comfort. Callie had a loving, long life with you, and we can never have them long enough, but don’t you feel your life was enriched by having Callie with you? Now the hard part – the emptiness of your home, and missing her. I encourage you to come to our group Thursday the 15th – I think you will find great support and understanding, and you can share with us. Toni

                      These darned anniversaries and holidays are tough, Maureen. At one of our group meetings it was suggested we also mark the day of birth or adoption to celebrate the wonderful time and life we were gifted to share. I like that idea but understand how we count the days and months since parting. You are kind, generous and gracious to share your own sympathy and understanding with others and I hope you find a bit of comfort in comforting others. I am still so sorry for your pain and hope you are finding a little more joy each day. We;re here and thinking of you. Toni

                        Faith, Are you finding it a bit easier to recall the good times now? We can feel guilty for being happy with our memories – as if that means we are losing our love. That’s not what’s happening. We’re seeing our grief as another part of loving so much, and beginning to celebrate life with Jojo as the gift it was. I hope you are including the good times with your thoughts. You might want to share some happy photos with us, too. Keep us updated. And join us the 15th if you can. Toni

                          Do you ever feel afraid to open your heart again? The thought of saying goodbye is too hard to take? That’s understandable, especially after the death of a beloved pet. I’m feeling it now as I anticipate Walter’s illness advancing and the day of parting we’re facing. I am reluctant to begin a new relationship. For me that will change with time, I know. Some are able to bring a new love into their homes and hearts soon, for some it may take years, or it may be never. However, or whenever you welcome a new family member, know you are not “replacing” your lost baby, but are giving another the chance for a loving, wonderful life. And you get to love, and be loved, again. 💕 Toni

                              Maureen, I find sharing support helps ease a bit of my own grief. I always say “Joy shared is joy doubled, grief shared is grief halved”. You are very knid to share your sympathies and we all appreciate that. It’s a slog, moving through grief, and can’t be rushed, but thinking of good times with Romeo may help you, and knowing you gave him his best life and love may bring you some comfort. Do you think Romeo would want you to be happy for the lives you shared, and want you to be happy for that? I do. I hope you can join our group June 15th – you’ll meet some very kind people who undertsand and care. Stay in close touch, Maureen. We’re thinking of you. Toni

                                Marianne, It is understandable that you are hurting. No matter how long we are together, even knowing Max had a long, loving, wonderful life with you, it’s never long enough for us. Your life and home have changed in a big way and it takes time to settle in anew. I am, we are, so sorry. I hope you will think of the good, fun and funny times you and Max shared and that those memories bring you smiles and joy. You might even write down some of your fondest memories and “send” them to Max. You can share some of those stories here, and please join our kind, caring group June 15th to share more with us. {{HUGS}} Toni
