Of course you are heartbroken, Ronnette. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet brings a pain like no other and even though we know our pets are only “on loan” to us, it’s never for long enough. Please tell us about Sunny and share some photos if you like. You are welcome to join our April 20th group support meeting. (An email with the log-in will be sent to you). We’re here for you Ronnette, with sympathy and understanding. Toni -

Daniel, I am so very sorry. Tony was a doll. What kind of doggie was he? How did you meet? How long were you together? He looks like he was a sweetie and I bet you had a lot of wonderful, fun times together. Can you find some comfort in those memories? -

Oh geez Toni. Not long ago I took in my darling little Walter who will be 15 in June – just like your Ian. And, like Ian, he has a tumor. We’ll talk more in the meeting next Thursday. I am so, so sorry. -

Jennifer, your comments have made my day. My Walter has an aggressive tumor on his abdomen and I am watching for loss of appetite, weight loss, vomitting, discomfort … all the signs of a kitty in distress. I thought we may be saying goodbye this week but guess what? He is playing with me, eating and defacating alright. Your experience has given me hope about Walter’s prognosis and I Thank You very much for sharing your information. It’s one of the reasons we have this Community – to share insights as well as support and sympathy. I hope knowing how you have helped others brings you a bit of comfort but you said goodbye to Simba not long ago and it hurts you. It sounds as if you and she shared a deep and loving relationship over many years, and that is both rewarding and extremely painful, isn’t it? It’s too bad our beloved pets are only on loan to us, never for long enough, but the good thing is that you and Simba got to share her life of love and joy for as long as you were given. As you move through this grief, can you write a note to Simba telling her any and every thing you want to tell her? And what do you think Simba would write back to you? Gratitude and Love I suspect. What do you think? Jennifer, join our group meeting April 20th and talk with us about Simba. You will be among kind, caring and understanding friends. You’ll get an email with the log in. I am sending you my sympathy and a {HUG}. Toni -

I’m happy to hear you are doing alright, Tina. Saying goodbye is so hard even when it’s definitely their time to leave. On Saturdays at a local park there is a gathering of dachsunds and I call it the Hot Dog Stand :-). They’re so cute and energetic. You can tell us about your life with Juicy Fruit, and share photos if you like. Nice to have you in our community. Toni -

Thank you, I’ll be there.. Ian was my cat, he was 15 years old, had him since he was a baby.. I got him in 2008, when he was 6, he had cancer on his back, he had surgery & beat it.. then on February 25th he couldn’t stand up & started having seizures 🥲I brought him to the animal emergency room & he had 2 tumors in his tummy & a lesion on his brain 😭

How kind of you, Sigrid. I’m looking through your beautiful urns. Walter is actually playing with me today! He seems to still be doing okay. I watch him carefully for indications of discomfort. I really appreciate your caring. {HUG} Toni -

Kat, I would never recommend getting a new pet until you are “ready” but I took in a young cat last year only ten days after my BG died and it completely changed the way I felt about her passing. It made me realize that she and I shared a fabulous life for as long as we were given, and that another baby needed a life of love and kindness. Bailie is not a “replacement” for Pooh, she is a new life of love for you to share. Don’t you think Pooh would be thrilled for you both? I do. And we will always love our darlings and can find smiles and warmth with oir memories of them. Please share some pictures of both Pooh and Bailie and tell us everything about Bailie when she comes home to you. How generous of you to open your home and heart to another. Toni -

Maureen, nothing I say can change your grief but I hope it helps a bit to know how sad I am for your sudden and shocking loss. It seems Romeo didn’t suffer a long, lingering passing, and that is something to be grateful for, for his sake. It’s truly a heartbreak that our beloved friends are only on loan to us, never for long enough – forever wouldn’t be long enough. I agree it helps to talk and receive support and kind understanding, and I hope you will try our group April 20th. Your lethargy and desire to be alone are things I have exoerienced, too. People want to be helpful but I just wanted to be alone for awhile. It may benefit you to write a letter of love and joy to Romeo, and we have a journal/book that may help you : https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/griffins-heart-pet-loss-book/
Please accept my sympathy and a {{HUG}}. And know we are here for you.

I feel better about Walter now. His doctor confirmed what the oncologist said which is to watch for him to stop eating, losing weight and not having an interest in doing anything. I think it will be fairly obvious when Walter is ready to say goodbye. She also said it is not common for masses to rupture, which greatly relieves my concern. Thank you for your caring and comments. I’ll be updating as things progress. And please, update us about YOUR babies. Toni

Good wishes to you, Toni! That’s hard. I hope you and Walter will still have many good days together and that he’ll leave peacefully and without pain when the time comes.

Geri, this is so hard. Thank you for caring. We’re seeing the doctor in the morning. I just posted about a friend whose cat had a similar mass and hers ruptured and she suffered terribly. I don’t want that for Walter and am trying to do what’s best for him. As we all do. 💔I’ll post an update tomorrow. Toni -

So, here\’s where we are. Darling Walter, feline, 15 y/o, has a fast-growing malignant mass where his small and large intestines meet. A dear friend just lost his cat to a mass that ruptured her intestines. She was in agony. He is supporting me if I choose to let Walter go, to prevent the risk of that happening to him. At Faithful Friends we talk about anticipating, preparing for, and experiencing the death of a beloved pet. I am crossing from anticpation to preparing to say good bye to Walter, before his mass has a chance to cause him extreme suffering. But, and this is where it\’s so terribly hard, he doesn\’t seem to be in pain right now. But surely, with a mass growing he is experiencing some level of discomfort, I must think. The oncologist said he is probably feeling it. If you have experienced anything similar with your beloved pet, would you mind sharing your insights here ? I appreciate your help and support at this time.-
I feel your pain had aback maicoon Shadow. He too had the tumor ,the vet stated it was a blockage. He was on pain and 7 months after my husband passed hade to say goodbye by to my 3 year old baby. It was the best for him. However my heart was broken. Than I realized that he gave my all the love and was happy. My prays go out to uou.

Oh Rachel, so much sadness and deep pain with your parting from Alphonse. You were together almost fifteen years? What a lovely life to share. The awful truth is that our beloved pets are only on loan to us, never for long enough. The great part is giving and getting a love like no other. For that we are grateful. But the deeper the love, the deeper the pain. Your house must feel empty? I found holding and petting a stuffed toy helped me. Talking to our group – next meeting is April 20th – really helps and I hope you’ll join us. And Rachel, please tell us what happened with Alphonse? It can help you, and others, to share our experiences. I am thinking of you with sincere sympathy and sending you a {{ BIG HUG}}. ToniTONI NOEL is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
