Valerie, how are you feeling today? Are you healing up okay?
      • Hi, Ty for asking. I’m hanging in and healing physically slow but sure. Guess there’s no other way 😁I’d heal faster if I could only find a furry friend that needs me too 😆 If anyone is looking to rehome keep.e in mind. I hope you and everyone here have a great day. 🤗

          • Valerie, How wonderful for you to open your home and heart to another in need. On this page, click the “Find Services” tab, enter your zip code and in the drop-down menu look for Shelters or Rescues.
If you want to share your location with our community, maybe someone here can match you up in your area. I am excited to hear what happens, who you meet and to hear all about it.

I am so glad you are with our caring community. We understand. You can tell us anything and we will support you. Counseling can help and I hope you let us know how that is going. You might find the book “Griffin’s Heart” a useful tool to help move through your healing. My Paw’d Cast interview with the author, Reagan J. Pasternak, will be released soon and can be listened to by clicking the microphone icon on the upper right side of this page. The book is in our Shop. Were your children close to Gizmo? Are they handling it okay? Let us know how you are doing, Jill. Hugs

@marciafretz Hi Marcia, and welcome to our caring community. Please tell us about your Bennie. What type of pet? Do you have pictures to share with us? Are you doing okay, Marcia?

Lisa, thank you for sharing this. It’s charming. Those eyes ! We have two artists – April and Britta – who create one of a kind renderings that are, like yours, true keepsakes. It means so much, doesn’t it? How are you doing, Lisa?
              • Thank you, Toni. It does, because now I can clearly see his beautiful eyes that were so blurred in the photo. I’m doing ok, still taking it a minute at a time. I have a new black kitten coming to me once he/she is old enough. That gives me something to hold onto, you know…
                  • We do know, Lisa. New loves are not replacements – they are brand new loves to share, unique on their own. I can’t wait to meet your new baby. My 17 year old cat is all black (well, a few grey hairs are popping up) with beautiful green eyes. She is so pretty, and even sweeter and smarter than she is beautiful. We had her first acupuncture today. Anyway, didn’t mean to ramble…. Please share pictures with us, and let us know how you are coming along. I recommend you listen to my interview with Reagan who wrote the healing book “Griffin’s Heart”. We discuss the places pets have in our hearts and how some are closer to us than others. Just click the microphone icon on the upper right side of this page. Let me know what you think. Hugs and Purrs….

Thank you, Elizabeth. That makes me feel better. She’s having some trouble jumping, and with her compromised kidney functions, acupuncture seems like a good option if it doesn’t stress her too much (she’s 17 now). I’ll post how we do after our session. By the way, if you can offer suggestions about alternative treatments to others in our community who may have specific concerns, please do – we are all here to help and support one another. Thank you again ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh Valerie…How awful. I understand. I walked a friends’ 9 month large puppy and he pulled the leash and blew out my knee. It was a terrible injury, major surgery and long recovery.. The doctors all said they get a lot of dog related injuries. I wish you a wonderful recovery and strongly recommend you do all of the PT. I adopted an old, toothless, black cat and couldn’t be more in love. She is great company and I think you are right to share your home and heart with a kitty in need. DO tell us what you end up doing. And let us know how you are coming along, Valerie. Glad to have you back in the community ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh MaryAnne, I am so, so very sorry and sad for you. These doggone holidays are markers that make it even harder. I know we know (intellectually) the years of love and joy we shared were worth the pain of parting, but darn it, when it happens it just hurts so bad. Beyond bad – a deep, soulful loss….. Pour through the depths of pain, and harken to the sweet, loving times to lift you to a place of peace and joy, if you can…when you can…I feel so sad. It’s okay, not only okay, but right. It’s sad. Heartbreaking. That’s part of loving and living and losing in a life with beloved pets. It’s still painful, and terribly sad. BUT Mary Anne – you will go on to heal, and feel joy and gratitude. I am sending you a HUGE HUG.

Help please. My cat wants me to ask the community about Acupuncture. She is scheduled for a first treatment this week for her kidneys and soft tissue problems. Does anyone have experience with acupuncture? Can you tell us what to expect -does it hurt? Does it help? Thank you for your insights. Toni and…..my Cat ๐Ÿ™‚

                        • Iโ€™m a homeopathic physician and have used acupuncture very successfully on animals and humans. Go for it.

Doggie drinking? Cute! I love her face in the photo with …your daughter, or wife? And you with her on your shoulder – that’s so sweet. How old was Jolie?

Yep, Susan, this is absolutely how they guilt us. We’re really just their play things…..and servants ๐Ÿ™‚

How wonderful, Elaine. You are right-Jesse has his own place in your life, home and heart. It’s kind and generous of you to welcome him :-). Keep us updated.

Elizabeth, sorry for the tardy reply but it seems my internet wasn’t working right. Naddily Grace was such a tiny girl, I can see how being stepped on would injure her. What a shame. I am so sorry, Elizabeth. You shared a long, lovely time together, and you surely have a hole in your heart for her. But, how generous and kind, and loving, of you to welcome a new love and joy into your home and heart. Naddily Grace will be very pleased for you both. Thank you for sharing with us, Elizabeth. Please share more stories about Naddily Grace, and your new pup. And let us know how you are doing. We love to share. Toni

You are such a nice pet person, Tim. A new pet doesn’t replace any other, but brings its own personality, quirks, joys and love. We are grateful for your sharing with us and always look forward to hearing more from you, and please …. pictures of Libby!! And, Jolie, of course ๐Ÿ™‚ Toni

Dana, thank YOU for sharing your inspiring stories. And your loving spirit :-). Little Grunt-Grunt is very lucky to have such care. I understand how sad and heartbreaking it is to see them fail – my 17 year old is on lots of meds and yesterday I noticed her walk is off a bit, so I’m scheduling yet another doctor appointment. It’s hard, especially because they don’t complain. And you are right about taking the pain in exchange for the love and joys. We know going in that one day we’ll have to part, that they are only “on loan” to us. Keep us updated on how you and Grunt-Grunt are doing. Hugs

Hmmmph. Seven seems awfully young to be a “senior”, doesn’t it? You’re obviously doing things right to have so many over twelve. Good for you, great for them. Thanks for sharing with us.

Maria-Catharina, Thank you for sharing your darling Hansi with us. Yep, you are right acknowledging it was best for him to peacefully pass, but darn it’s so, so hard to say goodbye. I am so sorry. His face is so sweet, and his personality really comes through. But, you wouldn’t want him to endure suffering, and he wants you to enjoy your life knowing he was, and is, an important part of your happiness. Please let us know how you are doing. Hugs….

Oh my – three more dogs! That’s lovely. By “senior”, what does that mean? My vets call cats over seven “senior” and frankly, I object :-)…. maybe ten or so, but seven? What is considered senior for dogs?
                                            • Ananything over seven. All my dogs are over 12

Kerry, it’s good to hear from you. And it’s good your grandkids were with you to share memories of Oscar, even though it hurts. I find looking at pictures can really bring out emotions, happy and sad, and I am glad you have the ‘kids with you to do that. And I know what you mean about a “grief like this” – it’s different from others. We’re here for you and want to hear from you, Kerry. Here is a Hug ๐Ÿ™‚
