@deneshad21 Denesha, I am so sorry for your loss of Ellie. Please let us know how you are doing, and tell us about your life with Ellie. Toni
-
me and my fiancé are having a hard time adjusting. she was 4 years old. But we had lots of adventures together. We started our life in Florida then we moved to upstate New York. We spent a lot of time at dog parks. Our Shetland sheepdog is having a hard time with her absence. -
Oh Denesha, so many changes for all of you. Yes, your Shetland is mourning Ellie, too. You all need to give one another more love and kindness now. Put up with moods and actions that may be out of the ordinary. And please, share your feelings together, including with your Shetland – they are sensitive to our feelings. What’s your Shetland’s name? Boy or girl? May we see pictures of both Ellie and your Shetland? -
His name is Archie. He does a few things she used to. He takes some food from his bowl and walks away to eat then goes back for more.

Maureen, it hasn’t been very long since you so suddenly lost Romeo and it’s understandable that you are grieving still. The pain of parting is deep and unlike any other. I like what Sigrid shared – perhaps there is a gift from Romeo that will allow you to heal even beyond his loss. Thursday you will receive an email with the access to our group support session and I hope we see you there. It may help to talk about Romeo with our caring and understanding friends. Please be kind to yourself Maureen. You were kind and loving for Romeo and deserve the same. {{HUGS}} Toni -

Faye, first I want to thank your son, and your family, for serving. I am sorry your son was injured and wish you all well. I hope things go well for you. I am also very sorry Toby had to say goodbye. It’s so hard to lose a dear, close, beloved friend. Not that anyone could ‘replace’ Toby but if your son needs a service dog will you find another? If so, please share that with us. We support Canine Companions for Independence – https://canine.org/. I don’t know if their special breeds are suitable for your son but they may be able to help you. I am sending you my sympathy and hope to hear more from you. Toni -

Diana, this is a time of extreme loss and grief for you both. A neutral party, like a couples therapist, may be able to help you both communicate through this troubling time. Grief will find a way to express itself and I hope you allow yourself to get it out. Did you know the chemicals in tears of joy are different than in tears of grief? I think that says a lot about the need to physically express our pain – it helps cleanse some toxins when we cry. Let us know if you and your husband visit a therapist. I hope you find some effective ways to move forward together. {HUGS} -

Dana, I remember Grunt-Grunt. She was such a little trooper and I am so sorry she was unwell. You are understandably heartbroken. What kindness and caring you shared with her. It’s hard for us to second-guess our actions and it’s easy to find ways to feel guilty, but you had vet care and nursed her and she knew how much you loved her. I hope you will be as kind to yourself as she would want you to be. We wish we could have our pets with us forever but they are only on loan to us, never for long enough. Please join our group meeting this Thursday – it helps to talk about it. You’ll get an email with the log-in. I am glad you shared with us here, Dana, and hope you will continue to do so. We’re here for you. {{HUGS}} Toni -

What a lovely thing you did for Leila, caring so well for her. You were fortunate to have each other. The pain of parting is deep, as is your love. We don’t ever lose our love but we can, with time, find smiles before tears with our memories of the fun, loving times we spent together. What kind of pet was Leila? We’d love to hear more about your lives together, and please join our group support meeting April 20th to share more with us. (You’ll get an email with the log-in). We’re here for you, Candice. @candigirl1082 Hello Candice and welcome to our caring community. Please tell us about Leila – what kind of pet was she, how you met, your lives together…anything you would like to share, including pictures. How are you holding up? Toni
-
Hello Toni, thanks for reaching out. Leila was my rock. We have experience so much together and nothing will ever replace her and my heart will forever be broken. I first met her almost 17 yrs ago and immediately fell in love. We use to live in Michigan and moved down to FL 10 yrs ago. When we first came down here we were living in an apt that had high levels of toxic mold and it made me very sick and left my baby paralyzed from it. It was extremely heartbreaking to see her like this, but I dedicated my life to care for her for over 5 yrs. I stopped my life to care for her,she was my kid. My love for her will never stop.

Of course you are heartbroken, Ronnette. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet brings a pain like no other and even though we know our pets are only “on loan” to us, it’s never for long enough. Please tell us about Sunny and share some photos if you like. You are welcome to join our April 20th group support meeting. (An email with the log-in will be sent to you). We’re here for you Ronnette, with sympathy and understanding. Toni -

Daniel, I am so very sorry. Tony was a doll. What kind of doggie was he? How did you meet? How long were you together? He looks like he was a sweetie and I bet you had a lot of wonderful, fun times together. Can you find some comfort in those memories? -

Oh geez Toni. Not long ago I took in my darling little Walter who will be 15 in June – just like your Ian. And, like Ian, he has a tumor. We’ll talk more in the meeting next Thursday. I am so, so sorry. -
Toni Noel posted a new activity comment 3 years, 4 months ago
Jennifer, your comments have made my day. My Walter has an aggressive tumor on his abdomen and I am watching for loss of appetite, weight loss, vomitting, discomfort … all the signs of a kitty in distress. I thought we may be saying goodbye this week but guess what? He is playing with me, eating and defacating alright. Your experience has given me hope about Walter’s prognosis and I Thank You very much for sharing your information. It’s one of the reasons we have this Community – to share insights as well as support and sympathy. I hope knowing how you have helped others brings you a bit of comfort but you said goodbye to Simba not long ago and it hurts you. It sounds as if you and she shared a deep and loving relationship over many years, and that is both rewarding and extremely painful, isn’t it? It’s too bad our beloved pets are only on loan to us, never for long enough, but the good thing is that you and Simba got to share her life of love and joy for as long as you were given. As you move through this grief, can you write a note to Simba telling her any and every thing you want to tell her? And what do you think Simba would write back to you? Gratitude and Love I suspect. What do you think? Jennifer, join our group meeting April 20th and talk with us about Simba. You will be among kind, caring and understanding friends. You’ll get an email with the log in. I am sending you my sympathy and a {HUG}. Toni -
