What a beautiful, touching and inspiring photo of Sara. I hope you’ll share more with us, Amber. When did you part? How long were you together? How did you meet? Please tell us more about your life of love with Sara, and know we are here for you. Toni

What big personalities they had, Debra Ann. How did you meet them? Did they live with you at the same time? Were they good friends? Please tell us about them. I am sorry for your losses. Toni

Lola, No one can answer your question but you – “How to tell him”. Do you think it would be kinder for your brother if you wait until he’s released? Perhaps you can make a photo collection for him so he has that. You can post a lasting memorial for Angel in our Memorials tab. If he asks about Angel, you wouldn’t want to lie, but my inclination is to not bring it up unless he does. Let’s see what others in our Comunity say. I am sorry for the loss of Angel. What a little darling. Toni

Jennifer, I am so sorry for your loss of Brutus. If ever there was an apt name, it is Brutus for him. What a gorgeous fellow. Please tell us about Brutus and your lives together. We’re here for you with sympathy and understanding. Toni

Fifteen years, 100 years – it’s never long enough for us to be with our darlings. Leigh, reading how small and sad Sammi was when you met, and how much love and fun she had with you, I hope your many memories of the good life you shared bring you joy. Sammi was so happy for her life with you and I am sure she wants you to be happy, too. Each day can you think of, maybe write down, a fun or funny memory? I find it helps to deliberately recall those. Our group meets tonight at 7 EST if you would like to come share with us. Link is under “Events”. Toni

@shianne Suzanne, Thank you for kind words of sympathy, and THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts that you may have waited too long for dear Spirit. You have done our community a service by sharing that. I had lunch with a friend whose cat had a mass similar to Walter’s that ruptured. My friend told me “Toni, she was in agony. Don’t let that happen to Walter”. I heard and heeded those words every day and it made the decision so much easier, knowing Walter wouldn’t suffer the unneccessary pain his beloved cat did. I may have waited too long last year with my Deanna “Beauty Girl”, too. We learn to let go before they needlessly suffer and I hope you find comfort for yourself knowing Autumn Ranger and Saraya received the best of your love in letting them go. You are a kind, loving pet person and I am truly grateful to have you in our community. My best wishes and thoughts are with you. Toni

Thank you all for you soothing words of kindness and understanding, not just for my loss(es), but for each and everyone here in our caring community. It does help to both hear from others and share my own sympathy for your losses. I am choosing to recall the fun, funny and sweet things Walter did and was. He was better longer than he was ‘bad’ (unwell) and I am so grateful he was doted on, adored, cared for and loved as his life wound down. And I am deeply grateful for this community. Thank you 🤗Hope to see you tomorrow in our group meeting.

Wow! You made my night, Sandy. They are each so special, and so are their names. Good for you, good for them to be with you. Love it! How is it that you have so many? I am totally intrigued and grateful for your care. Toni

Penny, I am so sorry. I agree – the silence and emptiness are oppressive. It’s so strange and shocking to walk in and no one is there to greet us. I love the tatoo idea. What a charming way to honor Donnie. I posted a memorial here on the site in tribute to Walter. It was hard gong through the photos and videos without crying, but that’s a good thing – it releases some of the grief. I say “Joy shared is joy doubled, grief shared is grief halved”. That’s why we share in our group gatherings (join us this Thursday evening). And of course you love Donnie more than your kids – he wasn’t a teenager :-)…. Keep in touch and let us know how, and what, you are doing. And thank you for your sympathy. {{HUGS}} Toni

Thank you, Cody. It’s hard and the house is empty (and tidier without all the pet toys, trees and dishes), and while I am sad, I am happy Walter is at peace. Knowing he had the mass growing, then seeing the blood in his stool, plus his weight loss and lethargy made it very clear he was not well and was declining. He was a real sweetie and I am grateful for having him in my life. I just posted a Memorial to him. Please feel welcome to comment there, too. 🤗Toni

Penny, When and how did you meet Donnie? How long were you together? What kind of pet was he? This morning I said goodbye to ny beloved Walter and I understand the grief. We all do in our community. Can you bring forth memories of some good, fun and funny times? I find that helps me. The sadness wells up and you need to let it out. Tears help cleanse the toxins and while it is exhausting, it does help to express the pain. Out of great love, and with heavy heart, I said goodbye to my beloved Walter this morning. We know he had a mass and I\’ve been watching for signs that he was declining. This morning his stool was liquid again, it had a little blood in it, and he didn\’t cover it in the litter box. His way of saying \”Hey Mom, I\’m not doing well\”. Similar to the way Sweetness let Karen know something was wrong. I was surprised at how quickly I could make the decision to give him a peaceful passing, but being aware of his illness made the decision, not easy, but clear. I always say the hard part comes when the house is empty and different, and that\’s what I\’ll be dealing with now. But I am grateful for the time we had together and the love we shared. I\’ll post a Memorial to my Darling in a few days. Toni💔

                                        • Toni,
                                          I’m so sorry to
Hear of the passing of Walter. In the short time he was with you in his final fur ever home you both touched each other’s lives and once again your heart is hurting and has another hole, hopefully at the right time to be filled by another fur baby in need of a loving fur ever home as Walter was.
As hard as it is to say good bye for the final time you made the right decision to set him free of his pain Hindsight bring for sight, I let my spirit suffer longer than she should have because I was selfish and wasn’t ready to say goodbye. While the decision to set Autumn Ranger and Saraya free wasn’t easy I tried to be less selfish and release them earlier on so they didn’t have to suffer anymore
You and everyone else mourning the loss of a beloved animal or human are in my prayers.
                                          • Toni, I was sad to read about you losing Walter! You loved him and took care of his need to be free of pain first even though it breaks your heart. I know the pain of feeling the house being different and weird without them! Wishing you support and shoulders to cry on at this time!

I am so, so sorry for your loss of Walter. 😞. I haven’t been here for long, but, I seem to remember something you said about Walter being okay and I assumed he was ill. I know your heart is broken and I wish I could say something to ease your pain. Sending you hugs 🫂 and hoping they bring you some comfort. I wish you peace at this very sad time. 💔
                                                      • Penny, I am so sorry you lost Donnie! I love the tattoo idea. You can touch it with love and think of him – not that you need it ato remind you. Over time it will get easier to think of him but I am glad you are standing up for yourself and not get a new pet to patch over your pain. People may mean well but they don’t know how deep your love is and therefore your grief. You will know when you are ready. Right now you honor Donnie and your life with him. Best wishes to you!
