    Exposing the belly means she trusts you and is comfortable with you. She’s a very pretty girl 🙂
    • @kiara How are you doing today?

    • @ladyghost6 Hi Debbie. Welcome to our caring community. I am sorry for your loss of Akyahros and hope you are doing okay. Are you? What an unusual name – please tell us about it, and about Akyahros and your lives together. What kind of pet was Akyahros? May we see some pictures? We’re here for you with sympathy and understanding. Toni

      Yes, I agree. When we force things – anything – it doesn’t seem to work out. “Waiting will fill”. I was trying to connect with a foster about 30 miles from me who has mama cats and kittens to adopt but we just couldn’t seem to connect. That was my sign that it wasn’t right, and is what encouraged me to go back to fostering with our local shelter. And, just as with humans, there are some with whom we have a deep, strong bond. So love your little Valentino and enjoy these times together. Just as no one will ever replace you, no one will replace Henry or Murphy. But our hearts are expansive and can make room for more love. Thank you for sharing with us, Lori. I hope you’ll continue to do so. {{HUGS}} Toni

        Oh my, that is terribly sad and shocking. I am so very sorry. Please let us know how you are doing, and join our group meeting September 21st if you like. We’re here for you, with sincere sympathy. Toni
        • @kiara Kiara…What a beautiful name. May we hear about Kiara, see some photos, and hear how you are doing? I am so sorry for your loss 💔Toni

          • Kiara passed away just over a week ago at the age of 2 and a half. She was a wonderful little kitty who overcame medical struggles. Her dead came suddenly on Tuesday morning. It was unexpected. She passed away quickly by the time we got her to the vet. We miss her dearly and it has been hard dealing with her loss.

              • I am so sorry for your loss of Kiara 💔 Saying goodbye to our fur babies is never easy and losing them so young is even harder, I would think. She was too young to go over the Rainbow Bridge. So sad 😞
                Sending you comforting hugs 💔
                • I believe your never too young to cross the rainbow bridge. The rainbow bridge honors lost pets. You will see her again.

                  Pam, I am so sorry. I have said goodbye to three sweet babies in this past 1 1/2 years – two were mine and one was a friend’s whom I accompanied to the doctor. In each case, knowing it was in their best interest, I felt good letting them go comfortably. The minute I walked in my house, now that’s a different story. No one came to greet me, their things were harsh reminders that they were never going to use them again, and the house feels so empty and quiet. That is the hard part for me. The only thing I second guess is did we wait too long to say goodbye? That’s so difficult to know but I do know it was done out of love. Four weeks is not a long time, there is no timeline for grieving, but I hope you find some comfort sharing with us, and knowing you did what was best for Andy 💔.
                  Our group meetings are the third Thursday each month – Sept. 21st coming up – and the login links to all meetings can be found under the “Events” tab on the right of this page. Please join us. {{Toni}}

                    I would never recommend someone open their heart and home again until they are ready, but I think the universe has other plans sometimes. Ten days after my BG died and I was still very much in the depths of grief, Boots came into my life and turned me around. His youth, energy (and I mean HIGH energy), sweetness, curiosity, willingness to learn, and desire to play – just the vibrancy of life – made me realize that BG had her time and now it was time for another love. Like you, Lori. I think of my darling, beloved BG every day and somtimes cry, but Boots gave me the kick I needed even though I thought I wasn’t ready. Boots has gone back to his mother and I am ready to begin fostering again.

                          Oh, it DOES help to know our pain is understood and that others care. Your kind words mean very much. There is absolutely no proscribed time for healing from grief. As we’ve discussed, we crawl through it together. Have you tried writing a letter to Romeo, telling him your memories and feelings? You can also write what you think Romeo would want you to know in a letter from him to you. You might find some comfort doing either, or both, of those. Let us know if you do. We’re here for you, Maureen, always with open arms. {{Toni}}

                          • @disneynut49 Carol, I am so sorry for your loss of Cindy. What kind of pet was she? How did you meet? How long were you rogether? May we hear about your lives together, and see some photos? Toni

                          • @annabanana Hi Anna. Welcome to our caring community. Will you tell us about your baby, and let us know how you are doing? Toni

                            Oh Becki, saying goodbye is so very hard, but at such a young age it can be even more difficult to accept and understand. I am just so sorry. None of us know how long we have but we expect to enjoy a longer time together. Is cancer common in his breed? When you are ready, and if you’d like, may we see some pictures of Bob and hear more about your lives together? Becki, this is one of the most difficult and painful times for you and we are here for you with sympathy, actual empathy, and understanding to support you and help you. Please stay in touch here, and join our group support September 21st if you can. 💔Toni

                              • Hi Toni, thank you for reaching out to me. I am still having a rough time for the most part, but there are times where I am better. I guess there really is no choice but to go on. I don’t think I will ever get over losing Romeo. The days just drone on and now it is almost 8 months since he left. It is so hard to believe he has been gone that long and that in itself makes me so, so sad. It is finally hitting me little by little that he is never coming home and I will never see him again. That is still so hard to face right now. I know time is supposed to soften and help with grief so there’s that.
                                I have compassion for others who are going through a loss and I think it does bring me some comfort to say something kind to them. Losing a fur baby can be worse than losing a human in some cases and I have to say that is the case for me. I am lost and broken right now and I feel for others who are experiencing the same and I want to help ease their sorrow in some small way if I can.
                                Thank you, again, for you kindness and for all you do for everyone here.

                                  • Hi Toni, I have been writing messages to Romeo. I have a memorial page and I post my feelings and talk to him. Right now that’s very comforting for me.
                                    I am definitely crawling along like everyone here.
                                    Thank you, Toni…. hugs to you too.
                                    • Maureen, you will see Romeo again. Hugs to you.
                                      • Hi Brony, I hope you’re right about that. That would be something I could look forward to. Hugs back to you too.
                                        • Maureen, our group meets tonight at 7 Eastern if you can join us. I was thinking that you could wear a mask to visit your shelter and that might help with your allergies. What do you think? Toni

                                          @gregorylauren1gmail-com Hi Lauren, welcome to our caring community. I am so sorry for your loss of Katie and understand it’s been a couple of years since you said goodbye, and yet the memories are still vivid and can hurt, but also bring wonderful joy with the memories of the good times you shared. May we see pictures of Katie? And tell us about your “chonk”! I had the pleasure of caring for Boots before he went back to his human and can tell you I miss him every day. Are many tuxedos 15 pounds? Thank you, Lauren, for sharing your sympathy and understanding with others in our community. That’s what we’re here for. Sending you a {BIG HUG} Toni

                                            Catherine, I am so very sorry for your losses, and your deep pain. A few months – many months – moving through grief has no timeline. There are some things you can do, when you’re ready, to help ease the pain. One of them is to write a letter to Taj telling him everything you are feeling and treasure about your times together. Then, write the letter Taj would send to you. You may find Taj has nothing but love and gratitude for his life with you, and he would want you to be happy for the gifts you shared. Our pets are only “on loan” to us, never for long enough. Forever wouldn’t be long enough. But everything and everyone will move on, just as every leaf will fall from a tree (even a rock will erode with time). I think our pets know this better than we do. When you are ready, you might think of your time with Taj as a ruler with each inch being a year. As you recall each inch (year) and the fun and funny times you shared, allow yourself to relive the joy you felt. You will see that just the very last part of the ruler was an unhappy time for you and Taj. I hope some of this helps you, and I hope you will join our group meeting September 21st to talk about Taj and your other babies. Meanwhile, keep sharing with us. We’re here for you with sympathy and understanding.💔Toni
