I lost my baby Colt just 2 days ago. I rescued him from an abusive owner about 10 yrs ago. He was terrified of everything when I got him but became very comfortable once he knew he was safe and loved. He was so mellow and loved everyone but very protective of me, my grandkids and our home. Our home is so empty now without him but I know in my heart he is in a better place and free from pain and playing with his new friends across the Rainbow Bridge. He had a good life and brought so much joy to our lives. Until we meet again my sweet boy.. you\’ll always be in my heart ❤️
    • Thinking about you ❤️
      • PRAYERS. I know my Tiger wasn’t a dog but was so much loved as a cat & he adopted me & we were together for 9 lovely yrs. I had to put him to sleep Dec. 2020.
        • Toni, I am so happy you think of the good parts and times with Colt. Even when it’s the right time to say goodbye, it does indeed leave an emptiness. What a handsome boy Colt was, and how good for you both to find each other. I lost my darling old girl in February, and quite unexpectedly now have a young, healthy, active boy – that has certainly filled the emptiness, and eased my grief. Perhaps one day you’ll want to open your home and heart to another. Please, scroll through the posts here and share you support with others. It really does mean so much to know we care. I look forward to hearing more from you, and about Colt.
          • .so sorry for ur loss. COLT was a beautiful doggie…
I lost my Baxterboo 0n 5/22…its horrible being here without him

It\’s been 24 hours since I lost my baby girl. I miss her so much. I love you, August.
            • Christine, I was sick for a day after, but today is the fifth day and I am better – not purrrrfect, but better. I force myself not to think of her and that helps. I dedicate periods throughout the day to think of her and grieve, then do something to stay busy. We’re here for you so share with us as often as you need.
              • Christine, how are you doing now? Do you have someone with you, something to hold and pet?
                • Toni, I’m getting better. Spent some time looking through pictures I had of her. I realized that when I saw a picture of her and smiled and not teared up, things are going to be ok. My son and I have been talking about her and chuckling over her quirks. We plan on making a memorial collage for her and wants to put flowers on her grave. One day at a time, I guess. I hope you are doing better also.

I really miss my sweet baby Kee. It hurts so much. I just break down and cry

                  • Oh Darlene, I am so sorry for you all. It’s so hard to lose a beloved family member like Leo. Is he wearing a bowtie? What a cutie. There is such a conflict of intellectually knowing he is not suffering, and the absolute heartbreak of saying goodbye. It’s good you and Trixi are there to support each other. I hope you will find comfort. May we see more photos of Leo and Trixi? Keep us updated, please. {{HUGS}}
                    • I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this loss. I’m sure that it is very hard on Trixi being without Leo. It’s good that you take her with you more. She really needs your extra attention right now. And it’s good that you have her to lean on as well. Animals grieve just like we do. Leo was absolutely adorable. Sending you prayers and healing thoughts. Can you post a picture of Trixi too? Sending her loving schritches.

Trixi is lost without Leo. She has never been away from him in 10 years. She’s so sad. The night she passed she just stared at Leo’s bed. We try to take her with us more now. Don’t want to leave her alone.

I still miss my Sheba so much. She has been gone just over 6 months. Her death should have not happened. How do you make veternarians listen to what is happening with a loved pet and take precautions to prevent what happened to her?
I did get another cat because I could not stand the empty house. His name is Milo and I love him very much. He does not take Sheba\’s place but is a great cat and comforts me.
The calico was Sheba and the tabby is Milo. Does not look like the pics are going to show very good on the site.
                      • Cathy, the photos are excellent! Very clear, and they really express a lot of personality from both Sheba and Milo. I don’t know, Cathy….I have to believe doctors do the best they can to help and sometimes it all goes wrong, Just as with humans. It doesn’t help, but I just don’t know what else to think. For sure, you need a better vet, and you could send a written report of events to the state governing Board who may review that vet, and help protect others. You are so generous and kind to open your home and heart to Milo. That is a major gift to him, and I know he is not a “replacement” (of course not), but now an additional love in your life. Be kind to yourself, Cathy. It takes time to work through loss, and to find smiles before tears. Stay with us and share more, especially Milo (soooo cute)…

Today is 1week since our Jax has been gone. My heart still hurts so much. I sleep with his blanket at night and Wake up finding myself squeezing it so hard. For some reason this comforts me.
                          • Lisa I know the feeling. I sleep with a stffed yorkie (toy) every nite cause I miss having my baby sleep next to me. It’s been a month for me, and I still can’t stop crying. I know what pain 💔 you are going through. I am here if you need to talk. Sending love and prayers

Our absolute SWEETNESS Rocket. Had him on several serious meds for 3 years for his liver and Cushings. Then last week he stopped wanting to eat and I took him in and his vitals were ok. The next day they took his bloodwork and then she came in and said he’s in acute kidney failure and his kidneys are shitting down. She said even if we hospitalize him he’d need to be on times for testing and not with us but that the outcome will be the same, so she had to put him down. They picked him up yesterday from the cremation place. I feel so sick inside and SO extremely guilty. Also trying to comfort my sweet Princess Ping Pong who’s looking for him, and sighing, and can’t stop crying and trying to talk to her and it kills me that I can’t help her understand, but I can’t even be,p myself 💔🙏🏼🥺
                                      • I do not understand your feelings of “guilt”. It seems you did everything, just everything you could for Rocket. I understand we are inclined to feel we could have done more, but what more could you or the doctors have done in such a situation? We second guess ourselves, chastise ourselves for not noticing something, or knowing more, but I am absolutely sure you always did what was in Rocket’s best interest and your feelings of guilt are misplaced. I hope you will be kind to yourself, as you know Rocket would be, and would want for you. Your grief is deep, and raw, and you should be in a puddle on the floor with sorrow (but please, no guilt). Princess Ping Pong is mourning too and knows you share this grief together. You are fortunate to have each other. Euthanasia is a gift of peace and release, a relief from current and future pain and suffering. It takes a tremendous amount of love and selflessness to let our beloveds pass with comfort even though we suffer the loss at the deepest cellular level. I admire you for your efforts over the years, and beg you to never feel a whiff of undeserved guilt. I am grateful to you for sharing the gallery of pictures that show Rocket’s personality and let’s us get to know him a bit, and share your grief. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Please also stay with us as often as you want, need or like so we can be here for you. It’s not much, but it’s heartfelt – here is my {{HUG}} for you and one for Princess Ping Pong {{HUG}}. Toni
                                        • I know exactly how you feel, the pain of choosing to put your poor baby down and the pain of not having Rocket with you. I just had to do the same with my poor Snickers I miss him every minute of every day. I am here for you I know the pain. Sending love ❤ and prayers 🙏
                                          • How are you and Princess Ping Pong doing now? May I ask your name if you are comfortable. All I have is Rocket’s Parents. I am thinking of you daily. Toni

August 9, 5 months ago yesterday, I lost my sweet baby girl Chloe. She was my heart and soul. She was was a tiny girl,
4 lb and deaf from birth. Only 6 years old. My heart was not ready to say goodbye…. Still heart broken…
                                            • Oh Jeri, Chloe was so darn cute. Hard to believe she was deaf with those big ears! My old cat has become deaf and blind this year, but she’s getting around okay. I don’t think it’s been very long since you and Chloe parted, so I hope you are kind to yourself and know you can grieve and share with us. I’m sending you a big {{HUG}}
                                              • I am so sorry for your loss of Chloe. Five months go I lost my precious Missy. It is so difficult. Please be patient with yourself and know that others care. Hugs and prayers.
                                                • 5 months, Because she deaf she was basically with all the time. She was little, so she wanted be carried or in your lap always. I miss her so much. Can’t seem to stop tears… she died such a horrible death.

                                                • What happened to poor little Chloe?
                                                  • This past summer after many tests, we discovered she had a liver shunt, plus Microvascular dysphasia of the liver, gallbladder stones and bladder stones. Her attacks with the liver shunt were coming closer and closer together. They told us she needed to have corrective surgery for the liver shunt. We had it done on Aug 6. , Friday, we brought her home Saturday. Sunday we were rushing her back to the hospital at noon. She was having Grand Mall seizures. They worked through the night to get them under control, when we came back on Monday morning, my poor baby girl was brain damaged and her eyes were just blinking and legs going, she didn’t even know we were there.. it was a horrible death for my sweet baby. I can’t for get it out of my head and heart… even though she didn’t feel good at the end she was always such a happy and loveable little girl. God I miss her..
                                                    • Jeri, this is a terrible story and was a horrific time for all of you. Poor little Chloe. She was so lucky to have you provide such care and love. Sometimes there’s just nothing for it and exiting this world is a welcome gift. That’s what happened for Chloe. Of course you can’t forget it because of the way you saw her, but I suspect she was not aware after the seizures and brain event. One of the absolutely magnificent things about our pets is their stoicism, they don’t complain, and I try to take inspiration from them and follow suit. There is no time line or prescribed way to grieve, and it’s totally okay to laugh and smile with her memories as you move through. I an here, as is the community, so stay in close touch. I’d love to see some more pictures if you would share them? Here’s is a {{HUG}} as big as Chloe’s ears 🙂
                                                      • Thank you for your kind words, I just have to find a way to work through this. I’m reading some books now to try and help me. I’ve had other pets pass, but she’s been so very hard for me.
                                                        • Jeri, we have a book/journal in our shop: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/griffins-heart-pet-loss-book/
It was written by Reagan Pasternak – perhaps you know her from her career as an actress – who created it to help her through her own grief of losing her most beloved Griffin. Some of our members have found it helpful, and you may too. We also have a pet grief counselor available if you would like to speak with him:
                                                          https://heartfeltfarewells.com/
Of course, we are all here for, and with you, to share your feelings. We get it. We understand. We care. Let us know how you are doing, Jeri.

                                                            • It’s In New York and a big NO for swimming. In fact Snickers hated to go out for walks in the rain. How I miss fighting with him to go out in the rain. I miss him so much Toni. I just can’t stop crying
                                                              • It’s okay, Lori. You can cry with us. I know I do many days in anticipation of my girl dying – she’ blind again, and deaf, and with her other health challenges, it is gut wrenching because she is so sweet, never complains and is getting around fine. What troopers they are! At the first sign of distress or discomfort, I will gift her release, but she’s loving and purring, and thankfully mostly oblivious to what to me is just so, so hard to see, and she seems to be doing well …. so, you get through your grief with us, and remember it hasn’t been long for you.
We have a “Paw’d Cast” with Reagan Pasternak, the author of the book/journal “Griffin’s Heart” you may want to listen to. Click the purple microphone at the top right of this page. Reagan had a very hard time grieving her beloved Griffin, so created a way to move through her grief with her book. Take a listen and let us know if that helps you. We’re all thinking of you with understanding and care…

I haven’t been able to get through a day without dissolving into a puddle of tears. Please know that I am praying 🙏🙏🙏 for you
                                                                  • Thank you so much Martha. Snickers was my whole world. I just need to know he is at peace and does not hate me for making the hardest decision I ever had to make. Seeing him not eat for a month was killing me and him going off on his own and sleeping more and more. My mind tells me I did the right thing but my heart is not there. I miss him so much. Your Missy looks so adorable. Hopefully they are running around together ❤
                                                                    • Picture perfect. My deepest sympathies for the loss of Snickers.
