This is my Kissinger. Always close and touching.
    • Kissinger is a sweet looking little cat. I pray you and Kissinger will have many years and memories together as you and Bubbles did. I feel your pain Glenda I had to let my dear sweet Spirit cross the Rainbow Bridge last Monday May 23. I took the day off from work knowing I wouldn’t be good to be around and it was good I did, as I found myself sobbing throughout the day. While I didn’t have my Spirit for as long as you had your Bubbles, I have many found memories of her and her two sisters Saraya 16, and Autumn Ranger 12, who are still with me. One thing I’ve found that helps with the pain is sharing my memories of Spirit and talking about her with others who care and understand, like this wonderful group. Even as I share my thoughts with you, I find myself once again becoming emotional.
      • Suzanne, I said goodbye to my Beauty Girl February 24th and still feel deep grief and sob from time to time. She was sick and 18 years old, and it is so good to know she is at peace, but it takes as long as it takes to fully heal. We’ll always remember them, and love them, but it takes time for the empty feelings to be replaced by only joy. Let yourself express your feelings – I always think grief shared is grief halved, joy shared is joy doubled. Kissinger is mourning too, and you are both lucky to be there for each other. What a cutie he is! Would you like to join us June 7th at 7 EST on Zoom? If so, I’ll send you an invitation to log on. Let me know. Toni
        • By the way, I meant the comment about Kissinger for Glenda, who is part of our conversation 🙂
          • Thank you, Toni and Suzanne, for your kind words. I am so happy there is a place where I can share my thoughts and grief without judgment. Kissinger, Thomas and Tubby are all doing well as we adjust to life without Bubbles. I know I said no more and so far, I haven’t brought anymore into my home, but I am currently looking after a Mama cat (NEIGHBORS CAT) and her 3 kittens outside. I feed them 3 times a day, they’re eating now and drinking water plus still nursing. They are growing so quickly, and I am looking for them furever homes. If I have no luck, I guess I will have to keep them until a rescue can take them in. I live in the fictional Mayberry, and we have only one rescue and a kill shelter. I will keep them before I would send for Animal Control, they only keep them for 72 hours. They are so adorable; one is black and the other two are gray like they’re mom. Salt the dad was a cat that another neighbor had, and they moved and left him. He was just a kitten when they moved, he showed up at my front door screaming his head off during a snowstorm. I had just had to say goodbye to my beautiful black Labrador dog Pepper, and since I didn’t know the kittens former name my best friend said his name should be Salt. I said since he was solid black that wouldn’t work but my friend said Pepper had sent me the kitten so Salt he became. He is beautiful and he fattens up in the Winter and slims back down in the Summer, he has an insulated house that he goes into in the Winter but prefers to lay in the swing during the Summer months. Even he seems to know when one of my beloved indoor babies crosses the bridge, he attends every funeral and says his goodbyes. I have thought several times about bringing him in but am afraid to as I don’t know how my cats would react or since he hasn’t been to the vet what diseases he may bring in and of course he needs to be neutered, I strongly believe in spay and neuter and we do have a low cost clinic for which I wish more people would use and consider and which Salt will be visiting before long. Thanks again for providing a place where we can share our memories and love for all fur babies. Always, Glenda
