Thank you for the information, I checked it out, and I saw that there was a charge. I am not working, so I am not able to do it. I wrote her a letter. I think of her everyday.

Hello everyone. I know it\’s been quite a while since I visited so I wanted to say hi. I read several of the stories from numerous pet parents about the happy, fun times & also the sad, sorrowful endings of all the furry companions. As an animal lover & a BIG softie, my heart goes out to all of you & your personal hardships. It\’s been 2 1/2 yrs since my wife & I lost our 2 shepherds just 8 days apart. We\’ve been so lucky to be blessed w/our new (July 31, 2021) shepherd Renzo & on July 7, 2023 we adopted another dog \”Rowan\”. He was supposed to be a pure white G.S.D. but we think he\’s 1/2 (or maybe more!) Husky cuz he doesn\’t listen, runs like an Olympic track star, is VERY vocal & howls like a wolf! He\’s so damn cute & friendly & adores everybody so we love him no matter what he is. Our boys keep us pretty busy along w/work too. I\’m just getting back into a regular routine after the sudden passing of my dad last month so life\’s been tough & challenging the past few weeks. Aside from that, same old same old here. I hope this message finds everyone well. Take care all, stay strong & talk soon. -

Missing my Holly Golightly😢
So lonely around the house without her. Seventeen years wasn’t enough.-
Melissa, Forever wouldn’t be long enough with our beloved pets. I am sorry you said goodbye to Holly Golightly 💔When I have parted from my beloved babies, I fee good knowing they are no longer suffering, but walking in, and being in the house is extremely quiet and lonely, and it hurts. I hope you will read my response to Lillian and take somethng from the “exercises” I suggested, and share more about what you are feeling and thinking with us here. There are many pet owners who are here for you to help you. I certainly am. With sincere sympathy, Toni.

Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot to me. I miss Holly so much and can’t believe she’s gone I’m trying to find a dog to rescue but it’s hard to find the small dogs. Going to try and light a candle for her. Thanks again❤️

My Poogan passed away 12/29/2023 of a collapsed trachea. I feel so lost without him after 17 years of having him. I hope the pain gets easier 😪-
Lillian, I am so very sorry for your loss of sweet Poogan, and yes, the pain of parting WILL ease, with time, and some exercises you can do to help: Think of fun, funny and loving times you and Poogan shared – ask yourself if you would rarher have shared those times even though you had to say goodbye and feel the pain, or never had Poogan in your life? Write notes to Poogan telling him about those times and how much joy he brought you, and write FROM Poogan to you – what do you think Poogan would want for you now? I suspect he would want you to be happy for your shared lives and to move forward knowing he lived his best life with you. Celebrate the day you met. What a grand day that was for you both! Get out of the house if possible, maybe volunteer at a local shelter, or watch silly things on TV. Talk to friends and family, and to us here in our community of kind, understanding people. We’re here for you and want to hear from you. {{HUGS}} Toni

Lillian, I’m so sorry for your loss of Poogan 💔 What a beautiful pup he was. I know your heart is broken and I wish I could say something to help ease your pain. I still grieve for my Romeo who I lost 13 months ago and I am lost without him in my life. Time has helped ease the pain and it will for you too. Of course, we will never forget our fur babies.
Sending you hugs and wishing you peace.

Laurie, a vet once told me “Better two months too early than two months too late”. One of the kindest gifts we can give our beloved babies is a comfortable, peaceful passing so they do not have to endure suffering. If you see that it is in his best interest to relieve him of his distress, you will never regret letting him go. Saying goodbye should make you feel happy for his release. Please continue to update us, and please come to our group meeting Thursday night for support. ❤️Toni

Hi everyone! I’m in distress as my 14 year pug has a collapsing trachea which has gotten worse. I see him wanting to go for a walk or chew a bone or even him wanting to bark, and all I hear is his excessive coughing and gasping. The vet says it’s not his time just yet. I still see the playful begging pug he always was. It’s very tough for me to hear him make these horrible noises. ☹️-

Johannah, your pain comes through in your writing and I am so very sorry💔I think the deeper the love, the stronger the pain of parting, and you loved Pippin so very much. I am not sure we “get over” loss but we can help offset the pain by actively recalling fun, funny, loving memories of the life you and Pippin shared. Getting THROUGH the pain of parting takes not only time, but recognizing that healing does not mean forgetting. Healing is a way to honor Pippin. Opening your home and heart to another is also a way to honor Pippin by knowing he showed you how much love you have to give. You may not be able to afford a dog, but there are many lovley dogs in shelters just aching for a good life with a loving person like you. Perhaps you can volunteer at your local shelter to get a feel for it and to see if you are ready. Johannah, please join our group meeting this Thursday Feb. 15th at 7PM Eastern. I think you will find comfort talking about your feelings, and may get some other ideas about moving forward. The link is under the “Events” tab on the right side of this page. Please let us know how you are doing, if you decide to adopt or volunteer, and what we can do to support you. {{HUGS}} Toni -

Hi all. I lost my 14 yr 7 mo old Border Collie Pippin on 1/18/24. My heart is broken. I cry at least once everyday I miss him so much. I had him since he was 11 weeks old, I trained him and did obedience training with him, he was my child, as I am unable to have children. How will I ever get over losing my boy? When he crossed, and the vet let me know he had passed, it felt like someone pulled my insides out, it nearly dropped me to my knees. The pain was so incredibly raw, I literally ached from the loss.
I’ve been told that in time, getting a new dog will help heal my heart, but I’ve seen the cost of Border Collie puppies now, and I’ll never be able to afford one, which breaks my heart all over again.-

Saw the Valentines Day Memorial, and tried to do one for June, but she is not on the list. What happened, I thought she was there.

Hi Toni, thank you for your kind words. It is just a small gesture to give comfort to those who are suffering the loss of a furry companion and it gives me some comfort too. I have come along since the first awful days after losing my Romeo and, although I had very little support for my grief, I want to be sure I extend my support for others. I’m trying my best to climb out of this depression (baby steps).
Don’t know about the monthly meetings, but I will definitely think about it.
Thank you for your always remembering me and Romeo.

I know you will never forget Ranger and Axel, and I hope you are finding great joy when thinking of the lives you shared together. And how fabulous that Renzo and Rowan are best buddies!! My two kittens are crazy about each other and I am waiting for their DNA results to tell us what they are. Maybe you could do that for Rowan. But really, who cares – they are our loves and we are fortunate to have them in our lives, right? Those ears! Faces! What sweethearts. One of my all time favorite photos is of Renzo in the park that you posted some time ago. Feel welcome to repost it if you like.
Randy, when you read a post that moves you, please share your sympathy – it means so much to know others care and undertsand. And please always be in touch. With my condolences, Toni
