In just alittle over a month it will be the one year anniversary of Raina\’s death. While Mae keeps us on our toes. The night before last, at about 2 am I heard tags jingling in the livingroom. Both Mae and Sheba were in our bedroom. I have to believe that Raina was paying us a visit. Checking and making sure the house was safe.I still find it hard to talk about her without crying.
    • Yes, the anniversaries bring up strong memories and emotions. How sweet to get a “jingle”. I hope that comforts you. We say it all the time, because it’s true – they are never with us long enough, and the stronger the love the deeper the pain. You are lucky to have Mae and Sheba to share your love now, and Raina is surely happy for your generosity in opening your home and heart to them. Light another candle for Raina on the anniversary, and don’t forget to celebrate the day you met, too! There was a lot of joy in between those dates. Toni

Its been 2 months since my baby girl Penny is gone. I still cry because I miss her so much.

        • Two months is not a long time, Maryann. I hope you can bring forth memories of the wonderful times you shared and that those memories bring you smiles. We’re here for you so keep us posted about how you are. And Maryann, thank you for so kindly extending your sympathy and understanding with others in our community who are aching from their loss. That is so generous of you and means so much. Toni
          • So sorry, Maryann 😞 My boy, Romeo has been gone 4 months as of this past Saturday and I am still a mess. Losing our fur babies is the worst pain to go through. May your Penny girl rest in peace. 💔

Jojo passed away in his sleep on April 30

              • I know your heartache. Sending prayers for you 🐶🐾🙏
                • Sorry for your loss. Sending hugs
                  • Sorry for your loss
                    • Faith, I am so sorry. Had Jojo been unwell? I am among many who kind of hope our beloved, if ill, will pass away in their sleep so we don’t have to make the decision to help them along. Neither is easy and no matter how long we’ve been together, we always wish for more times to share. My BG was quite unwell and I know letting her pass peacefully was in her best interest, but I still miss her a year later, and always will, but mt memories are happy and I am grateful she was in my life. I hope, with time, YOUR memories bring you smiles. Please let us know how you are coming along and feel welcome to tell us more about Jojo, and share some pictures of him. We’re thinking of you, and I am sending you a {{HUG}}. Toni
                      • So sorry for your loss of Jojo 😞 It’s never easy to lose our loves no matter how they pass. But, by passing in sleep, you know it was in peace. I hope that will give you comfort knowing that. Sending hugs 🫂
                        • Thank you all for your hugs and prayers for my sweet Jojo. My heart hurts so much for him. But I’m glad he passed in his sleep.😥
                          • Two weeks is not long, Faith. Will you join us Thursday to talk about Jojo? We’d like to hear about your lives together and help you work your way along. {{HUG}} Toni

Scooter, Bubba and Buddy – what little darlings, Linda. Aren’t you fortunate to have shared their lives? And how loving and kind of you to care for them, give them your love and know they lived their best lives. It’s a shame they are never with us long enough (forever wouldn’t be long enough), but what a gift to treasure the time we are allotted together. Thank you for sharing with us, and please share your own condolences with others in our caring community who are grieving the loss of their beloveds. And, please celebrate with us if or when you open your home and heart to others. I am sending you {{HUGS}} Toni

Oh no, Linda. Oh no. I am so, so very sorry. Sudden and tragic death is shocking and extreme. I had a 9 month kitten hit and killed and understand. We’re here for you with sympathy. Toni

                                            • Linda, he looks so sweet – and a bit mischievous. How very sad to loose him so suddenly and under those circumstances! My heart goes out to you. I hope you have shoulders to cry on; there are people here in this community who understand your grief and will listen to what you feel like telling us about him. It does not bring him back but it keeps him alive. In Isabel Allende’s book Eva Luna the mother says to her daughter “People die only when we forget them. If you can remember me, I will be with you always.” I think the same goes for our dogs and cats and other beloved creatures. The task of grieving is to get to where you’re feeling them inside you and are able to take comfort in it, even if they are no longer around physically.
                                              Best wishes to you!
                                              • Linda, I am so sorry 😞 He was so cute and what happened to him was so tragic. I wish there were words I could say to help ease your pain. All of us here understand what you are going through. Sending you hugs 🫂 to comfort you at this very, very sad time. 💔

Good news about darling little Walter. Two weeks ago I had an appointment to let him go but he started acting better and I canceled. He’s eating, playing and his stool is normal. So far, so good :-). He does have an internal mass but now I’m wondering if it’s benign and not growing as fast as it was. We’re day-to-day but right now he’s good. I like to share happy news, too. Toni🤗

                                                • That’s such good news, praying for your Walter
                                                  • You are so kind and thoughtful, Martha. I really appreciate that. I am delighted, and quite surprised that Walter is doing okay. It’s really tough knowing he has the mass, and I watch him like a hawk for signs he is in distress, but he’s playing a little with me, sleeping A LOT, eating and doing okay. What a surprise and gift. It means so much to have the care and support from our community. Huge {{HUGS}} to you. How are you doing now? Toni
