Kaylanee update:
I was able to get Kaylanee into the vet on Saturday morning. I will as stressed and anxious to the max as, the vet tech took her immediately, after getting my update info. They were gone for what seemed like forever 20-30 minutes doing urinalysis and blood for full blood panel test. I was also freaking out because periodically I was hearing a cat loudly meowing and all I could think was I hope it’s not my cat. Vet finally came in and said he was very concerned as her urine was very diluted and feared her kidneys not properly doing their job. Any way great news all test results that were sent out came back negative. He has no idea why her urine was so diluted it since she’s acting “normal”, eating, active etc., and for a cat diagnosed with IBS, she’s been having normal formed bms. So I guess the b-12 injections and the biome food is working for her. Now to pray Takoda has a successful second attempt at his ultrasound tomorrow and that that will bring good news too. 🙏❤️🐾 Not sure if I’ll be able to make Thursdays group call as I’m leaving the next day to visit family in NH but please know I’m holding you all in thought and prayer. -

Please pray for Kaylanee, she’s just recently started peeing outside the litter box litter box at least 2x that I found yesterday and once that I’m aware of this morning. She’s pooping in the litter box. I called vet and tech said to monitor her for any other behavioral changes, eating, lethargy, drinking, etc., I do have appointment for Thursday June 18 and will call before that if needed. My PTSD , from loosing all my 4 babies between March 28-January 26, is starting to kick in and my emotions are all over the place right now. It feels like a repeat of last December, the week before I was leaving for vacation, my 92 year old mother fell, my friend’s husband died the same day, suddenly and I lost my Freyja, unexpectedly on December 17. At least this time it’s only animal -and car issues but I’m
Not sure how much more I’m able to handle.-
Suzanne, Please know that animal/beloved pet issues are extremely meaningful and powerful in ways nothing else can be and that we undertsand the deep anxiety and pain when one of them is in distress. You are not nuts, you are strong, kind, caring and generous to care so much for so many. The stress is real and if we can be a part of the support you need, we are here for you. Our group call is next Thursday, June 18th, but you are welcome to call me. We’re here for you Honey.

Suzanne,
I’m so sorry you’re going through this! After losing four beloved babies in such a short period of time, it can understand that this would trigger a lot of fear and bring back those painful memories. You’ve already done exactly the right thing by calling the vet and scheduling an appointment. Cats can sometimes start peeing outside the box for reasons that are treatable (urinary issue, stress, changes in routine, or even something as simple as litter box preference, they are picky sometimes). I know our tendency is to expect the worst as pet parents. Right now, try to take things one day at a time and remember to be gentle with yourself, too. Kaylanee is lucky to have someone who notices changes quickly and is paying such close attention to her.I’ll be keeping both you and Kaylanee in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the appointment brings reassuring answers and that this turns out to be something manageable. Sending you a big hug so you don’t have to carry all of this fear alone. ❤️
-
Suzanne, sorry to hear you’re having some issues with Kaylanee and hoping it will be something treatable like a UTI. Thinking of you both and sending extra hugs and prayers that things will work out.

Thank you Diane and Bernie for your kind words and prayers. Belated Birthday blessings Dosne , to you and Lincoln. So happy to hear that Lincoln’s blood work came back looking good.
Berni, so glad to hear Andi is keeping you on your toes with his lovable mischievousness. As I refer to my Oreo,AKA, Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde. Dear sweet and lovable one minutes and “hell” boy on steroids, but like you I’m sure, I can’t imagine life with out him.

Yesterday was Takoda’s three year gotcha day. He also turned five on his unofficial birthday in late May. My sweet boy was rescued off the streets of Syracuse by one of the many fosters who volunteer with the CNY Cat Coalition. (C. C. ). I’d just gotten back from a 6 Hour drive from New Hampshire where I gone for a four-day weekend to visit my family and started scrolling on Facebook instead of preparing for bed as I was exhausted and had work in the morning. As I scrolled on Facebook, a poster of cats posted by the CNY CC shut up on my feed I have never seen a poster of cats from them since and this was the first one I’ve ever seen also, normally they only post pictures of individual cats that are available for adoption. As I looked at the pictures of each cat, a black cat named Curtis caught my eye I knew nothing about him not even his age. I just knew I had to have him because he reminded me of my Saraya, that I had to say goodbye to on January 9, 2023 who despite being in good health had given up and died of a broken heart after she lost her two bonded sisters within less than two months of each other. Despite being tired I immediately filled out the online adoption application. I was informed his foster would contact me shortly with more information. That was on June 4 of 2023, on 6/8/23, I went to meet Takoda and welcome him to his new forever home. I adopted him in memory of my Saraya, as I tell each cat, as I say goodbye to them that I’ll adopt another cat in their memory that needs a loving forever home as they once did. He’s a sweet, loving boy who likes to sleep next to my head in bed, enjoys sitting and cuddling with me and looking out the window out of my three cats that I presently have he’s my talker and quite loud and boisterous when he has something to say. Takoda was a birthday gift to myself and one of the best presence ever.
Regarding Takoda’s health and need for an ultrasound, I requested the ultrasound referral as h…[Read more] -

I was out walking at Chittenango Lions Botanical Garden park, with my individual today. and I ran across this cat angel, in a small angel garden, that I thought I’d share with all of you who are mourning the passing of a beloved cat. It really touched me deeply when I saw it. I hope it brings some peace to anyone grieving. Also thought I’d share this little reflection I came across on FB. -

I took Takoda in for his outpatient ultrasound this morning, at Vetrinary Medical Center, which is also the ER hospital for the area. I had given him
the gabapentin, 2hours prior, as instructed. I told them if he needed more sedation, that was ok, I was willing to pay for it. About 10 minutes later they bring him back out telling me they were unable to do it because he was to wiggly I suspected they’d need to give him additional sedation. They told me I’d have to reschedule, as they needed an urgent care doctor and they didn’t have one today. So as she gave me some dates all of which were my 12 1/2 hour work days. So I said what about a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, the urgent care vet is only there on specific days I was told. Mind you this is also an ER vet and a specialty vet. My question. Is why can’t the ultrasound vet administer a sedation injection? Then I read the confirmation email they sent me and in addition to the 515$ for the ultrasound, they want to charge me an additional 186.00 for the sedation exam plus the cost of the meds, not to mention I have to take time off from work both Monday and Tuesday, as he needs to fast from 6:00 on and I don’t get home from work until 9:00 Monday nights., thid whole experience is just maddening and just insane, thst they need a sedation consult why not just ask for and look over his vet records??? He’s in good health per the most recent blood test, on May 15. It’s not even the money that I’m concerned about the insurance will most likely cover it , it’s just the face that they’re a specialist place but don’t have a regular vet on staff to help out PRN, for situations like this, because I’m sure, I’m not the first nor will I be the last to have this occur. My two Vetrinary practices are far more competent and helpful than this place is, and Takoda’s vet only has one vet that works at the practice. 😡😡😾-
Suzanne, I have been thinking about your questions and don’t have solid answers for you but think it might help to ask beforehand what charges there will be for any services rendered.
It sounds as if you need to find a different emergency hospital but it’s possible it would be farther away. Perhaps speaking with your regular vet will give you guidance.
How is Takoda doing now?

Takoda’s blood tests came back from his annual blood exam visit and his organ function is good but his infection fighting skills have decreased , probably from his irritable bowel disorder I’m going to start him on B-12 injections because my vet said it can’t hurt him. She’s also going to call in an ultrasound referral to my other vet, who has an ultrasound Dr. on premises 1 or 2x per week, as I’m concerned that he may possibly have cancer due to IBD, which hopefully since he hasn’t been officially diagnosed with IBD, the insurance hopefully will cover it. 🙏🙏🙏Either way I want to know one way or the other if he possibly has cancer and if he does hopefully it will be caught early and is treatable. I’d rather be proactive with his health than increase my PTSD, from saying goodbye to one more fur child. 4 in the past 14 months and 7 in the past 4 years was more than sufficient. It’s tough enough that it would have been Kalina’s 1year gotcha day this past May 3rd and she’s gone and May 19 was Morgaine’s 21st heavenly birthday and tomorrow is Spirit’s 4th heavenly birthday. My heart is already heavy with grief and memories of those I’ve said good bye to, I’m not ready to have to say goodbye bye to my Takoda anytime soon. Prayers to all those especially Bernie who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet. May all grieving feel God’s loving healing embrace.

Suzanne, you are a wonderful person and mother to so many who benefit from your relentless care. There is a “cost” of loving that is not monetary – we pay it with the pain of parting. I certainly hope Takoda is free of cancer and that the vitamins are the answer. I am thinking of you and sending you my very best wishes. 😻😻😻

Kaylanee went for her recheck from her dental surgery on April 9, last Thursday April 30 and was told her mouth was looking good and that she healed well. She will however have to have her teeth regularly checked, due to the tooth autoimmune disease, that she has which causes the tooth/root to self absorb. I’m just happy that her quality of life has improved tremendously since I adopted her almost 3 months ago. She is such a sweet loving little girl, who especially likes to lay on me or next to me under the covers, when I go to bed at night. I’m so thankful, that I chose to adopt her, even with all the debt she’s put me in with all her health issues. I hope everyone else is doing well. Bernie, how are your cats doing? Diane how is Lincoln doing and how are you doing? Praying for everyone and their beloved pets.

Kaylanee had successful dental surgery, last Thursday 4/9. With the exception of her canine teeth she had all her upper teeth extracted and some of her bottom ones as well. She has an auto immune tooth disease, which when I find out more about it at her recheck appointment on 4/30, I will share with the community. She’s doing amazingly well post surgery and was eating her wet food before she even received her first dose of her heavy duty narcotic pain medication. I’m wondering if her mouth pre surgery was so painful that she’d just learned to deal with it, that the post dental surgery was a walk in the park because she’s been acting herself and eating everything I give her wet and soggy dry food. While I’m not sure she needed the pain meds I gave them per vet directions and she finished last dose today. I’m wondering if her disinterest in food, the first month I had her was because she was nauseous all the time because once she had the nausea medication injection she hasn’t stopped eating. It’s like she’s a different cat. I still give her the nausea medicine PRN. So far my fundraising attempts to finance her dental surgery, have been a total flop. I have been posting updates almost daily and sharing publicly on Facebook and haven’t even gotten reactions or comments, never mind donations, with the exception of my own donation to see if it worked via FB. I tried posting on my local Nextdoor but it was hidden because evidently fundraising is against their rules. However, I also realize that if I choose to be a pet owner, then that comes with the responsibility of paying for their vet bills.

Kaylanee’s visit to the cardiologist went reasonably well. She may possibly have a mild heart murmur but because she was purring so loudly it was difficult to verify. She does have some thickening around the left side of the heart very early stages but nothing to be overly worried about at present. Both the murmur and the thickening of the left ventricle will be monitored with a follow up appointment scheduled for April of 2027. I am also monitoring her respiratory rate on an ongoing basis and if it gets above 40 I’m to call the vet ASAP. regular repertory rate is 20-25 per minute. It’s challenging to monitor a black cat for respiratory rate per the vet. I guess the color make it more challenging to see her breathing. Thankfully she was cleared to have her dental procedure, which thanks to a cancelation will be this Thursday April 9. I think God has been intervening for my sweet girl as I got into see cardiologist and for dental procedures very quickly both due to cancellations; otherwise wait to see Cardiologist Would have been may or June pushing back her dental surgery until July or August. I filled out all the paperwork and sent it into waggle, for financial assistance to pay for Kaylanee’s dental 🦷 surgery, which could be any where from 2 – 3 thousand dollars 2 being on the low end. Serious increase in price since Sebastian had his surgery in 2022 and Ikivercin 2023. Total bill for both was about 2,000, low where. However since I just got the appointment for dental procedure yesterday and the surgery is this Thursday April 9, I’m not sure if I’ll get any money to offset the bill, with such short notice; since they pay the vet directly and the vet will want full payment when I pick her up after her procedure. It’s kinda scary financially because I’ve already spent about 2100 dollars in the 1 1/2 months I’ve had her as the pet insurance refused to pay for two of her claims saying they were pre existing. They did thankfully pay for the cardiology…[Read more]

Berni,
I’m glad to hear that Annie doesn’t have C. Cats are interesting creatures and manage to hide things real well. My Sebastian went from appropriate kidney values for his age in late July, 2025 to stage 4 kidney failure 6 months later. I will continue to pray for you and Annie. -

Happy heavenly birthday, Oliver!
It’s hard to believe that one year ago today Sebastian and I had to suddenly say goodbye to you. This picture was taken in the morning the day before I said goodbye to you. We were both enjoying some one-on-one lap time together, then about six hours later you apparently through an undiagnosed blood clot. I know your last hours before you crossed the rainbow bridge were agonizingly painful for both you and I. I’m sorry for that. I know you’ve long forgotten that pain and trauma, but it’s not something I will soon forget. I miss you so much Oliver and your sweet brother Sebastian, who died almost 10 months to the day I had to say goodbye to you suddenly and unexpectedly too. Like you he appeared fine one day and the next he was quickly going downhill. I’m glad the two of you are once again reunited and I look forward to the day When I will once again be reunited with you both, along with Kovu, Morgaine, Eragon, Spirit, Autumn Ranger,Saraya, Kalina, and Freyja. I’m trying to focus and remember the good times we had together rather than the painful goodbye so I want to share one of my favorite memories of you. When I went to do my pre-adoption visit with you and Sebastian at the SPCA. The staff suggested I do a crate visit with you both as your brother was so frightened and timid. You were sitting protectively in front of your brother, who was as far back in the crate as he could get. When I reached my arm into Pet you both, you immediately placed your paw over my arm and began to lick my hand. I knew at that point that we were meant to be, and that you Oliver had chosen to adopt me as your new human mom for you and your brother. While writing this makes me feel sad, the memory also brings much joy to my heart, knowing that I was able to provide a loving forever home to you and Sebastian, even if the time I had with both of you was way too short. -

Thank you Toni, you are a genius! I called the vet today because needed to see if I was able to get more Nausea Meds, for Kaylanee, as Wednesday’s seem to be the day she likes to give me back all her food, and heaven forbid, she throw up on the floor vs., the carpet! So gonna start being proactive and giving her nausea meds Wednesday morning with her breakfast. Any way while talking to the receptionist, I asked if I could get a vet tech appointment for April 2, after seeing the cardiologist, success! I have one about 30 minutes after I finish with the cardiologist. The Cardiologist, is unable to do it because, she’s not an official vet at this practice, she just sees patients there 1/2 x per week. THANK YOU, however, Toni for the suggestion. Ironically enough despite giving me back all her supper and than some last night, she thankfully didn’t turn down the second churro, I put her nausea meds in and she lapped it all up. I just crushed it and mixed it in. It was funny to watch her however, because she knew it tasted different. Today she’s back to eating, like normal. 😁 -

Kaylanee update:
I got off the phone with my vet about an hour ago. The good news is he didn’t see anything serious. He did notice, thickening of the intestinal wall. I’ve got a vet tech appointment on 4/17 for a blood test that needs to be sent to Texas AM, that will let us know if it is irritable bowel syndrome or possible pancreatic issues? I’ve been down this road before for this particular blood test as Oliver had to have it once a year for his IBD. If that fails to produce any results, then there’s some other tests that we will look into providing the insurance company will cover all of her health challenges. In the mean time I will keep her strictly on the Hills Biome diet, as it’s for gastrointestinal issues, which thankfully she’s eating. She also gained a 1/4 lb which is good too. Now I just need to hope and pray the insurance covers all of this and doesn’t find an excuse to tell me it’s a preexisting condition, which technically they shouldn’t since all her pre illness blood work came back good. Her next appointment is 4/2 with the cardiologist. I’m not to concerned with this appointment, as the vet said it wasn’t urgent for her to see the cardiologist , as her heart blood test was just a little elevated but I wanted it sooner rather than later, so hopefully she will be cleared for her much needed dental surgery. While I’m still not sure exactly what’s wrong with Kaylanee, I feel hopeful, that I will be able to spoil her for a good long time, since she was rescued from an abuse situation.-
Can the cardiologist do the blood work on the 2nd? It sounds as if Kaylanee is doing better and I hope that continues. Can you ask the doctors for help with the insurance company if you get resistance from them? Keep us posted.😻
