Get ready for fireworks 😨If your babies are sensitive to the sounds and smells of fireworks – and they can hear and smell from displays far away – here are some tips to help ease the trauma:
Find a quiet place to hang out. An inside basement room, perhaps. Play soothing music a little more loudly to offset the “bangs”. Speak in a soft, soothing manner. Have favorite toys and treats at hand. Stay calm yourself – our pets pick up our moods and emotions.

Hello Lara. Welcome to or kind, caring community. We have each experienced the tremendous pain of saying goodbye to a beloved pet and understand the emptiness in our home and heart when it happens. We share our stories and feelings knowing they will be received with respect and empathy. We hope to help one another move through the grief and find smiles and joy in our memories. Please exrend your own condolences to others if you like. And join us online for our meeting at 7PM EST every third Thursday of each month. Chandra, you WILL get through this but it will be painful. Please try to bring forth memories of the fun, funny and loving times you shared, and remember the reasons you opened your home and heart to her. In our heads we know that one day we will have to say goodbye, but our hearts shatter when that time comes. We ask ourselves “Was it worth the pain?” and right now you may not feel that it was, but would you give up your years together to avoid that? Only you can answer that, and your answer may change with time. Perhaps writing a note to her, and writing what you think SHE would want you to know will help.

Hello Pam, and welcome to our kind, understanding community of friends. Is it Lea to whom you said goodbye? I am so sorry💔Knowing that our pets (friends) are only “on loan” to us doesn’t help when we actually part, and it doesn’t matter how long we’ve been together – it is never long enough to have them with us. Pam, will you tell us more about Lea and your life together? How did you meet? What was she like (we love to see pictures)? May I ask what happened ? We are here for you and your famiy.

Suzanne, what a moving and heartfelt tribute to beloved Oliver💔❤️It is so loving and generous of you to help him find relief and release from his suffering. It is also the hardest part of loving our babies – letting them go. The emptiness and hole they leave within our hearts and homes is deep. We know, in our heads, when we meet a new little love that one day we will have to say goodbye, but our hearts are never ready to part. I applaud the strength and kindness you have, and continue to share with these deserving sweethearts, and that you are willing to open your home and heart again. You, Sebastian, Takoda and Oreo will help one another heal, and Oliver will always be a treasured member of your family. Thank you Suzanne, for sharing your touching and inspirational story with our caring community, and for the support and kind understanding that you have shared with others here who have suffered the pain of parting.
