    Ann, holidays and anniversaries are tough. They trigger tons of memories and strong emotions that run deep. I find that trying to ignore those feelings just crams them up inside, so please let them flow. It’s exhausting and hurts, but also makes room for happy memories to be released. I call it “unleash the grief”. It may help you to create a lasting memorial for Gracie, which you can do here: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/
    Gracie was fortunate to have you love her so much. She isn’t suffering any more, and would want you to be happy for the wonderful lives you were lucky to share. You’d want the same for her.
    Please let us know how you are on the anniversary day, Ann. I’ll be thinking of you. Toni

      Sharon, it wouldn’t matter what day you gave Brody-Roe peace and comfort, releasing him from his suffering – it’s hard not to feel some level of guilt. Please know you acted in his best interest, not your own. We’d keep them with us forever if we could, but they are only “on loan” to us. You acted out of love and that’s what is important. It’s impossible not to miss our beloved friends – the house is emptier and quiet…… it’s hard. I hope you celebrate the times you both shared and enjoyed, and that your good memories outweigh the sadness you feel. I am sending a big Good Boy Brody! And a sincere {{hug}} for you, Sharon. Please let us know how you are doing. And, share some pictures with us – that’s a great way to memorialize Brody. We’re here for you.

        Whew! This is Fabulous :-)…well, not the crate and tube and staples, but she can do it for a week. Hopefully the meds are making her sleepy so she doesn’t mind too much. And Dianne, Thank You for being such a kind, caring member of our community. HUGS to you Both!

                Glenda, are you feeling a bit better? How is Kissinger doing now? You don’t have to anticipate the future of your “cat life” right now. I certainly understand not wanting to go through the terrible pain of loss, and at some point as we age, we have to decide if it’s fair to a pet for us to bring them into our homes. You’ll see how you feel when the time comes, which I hope is a long time from now. Let us know how you all are doing. Here’s a {{HUG}} for you all. Toni

                    If it’s what is best for her, keep that top of mind. It doesn’t matter when you have to part, it’s going to hurt you, no matter how much time you get to have together. But if she is suffering and facing declining health, becoming more uncomfortable and being unhappy just going through what she is, it’s the supreme kindness, unselfish gift you can give her. It hurts from deep, deep within, but it hurts everyday you see her suffer, too. This way, she will pass in peace. You can know you acted only in her best interest, not your own, because we would keep them forever if we could. This is why I shared what helped me after saying goodbye to Beauty Girl (petting and sleeping with a stuffed toy, having a picture of her made, donating her food and things to the shelter), and why our community is here to share their experiences and moving through the terrible emptiness and grief. Dianne, you WILL find the pain easing, and you will have times when the tears and pain flood over and through you. But, please try to think of the great life, love and joy you shared. She could have lived on the streets and had a horrible life, but you gave her all you could and I hope you will think kindly of yourself. Now, you let us know what the vet says, and if you do say goodbye, clip a little fur to save- I did that and am glad to have a bit of my beloved with me. We are all here for you. {{HUG}}

                      Oh Cathy. I never knew her and I am so very saddened, I know you and Milo are just destroyed. You will move through this together, and that’s the good part – you have each other. Please stay with us and let us know anything you want to share. Her is a HUGE {{HUG}} for you both. Toni

                              Of course you will fall madly in love with whichever he brings you. I wasn’t expecting to have a young boy cat, but do, and couldn’t love him more. It’s an adjustment, going from a calm, old girl to a rambunctious big fellow, but he’s wonderful – at 4 this morning I awakened to a cold nose gently touching my lips. That was special ( of course, he wanted to eat and play, but I choose to think he was giving me lovin’). So do be sure to introduce us to whomever you get to welcome into your home and heart – how exciting!

                                Oh Cathy, through tears I am writing to let you know how very, very sorry I am. One has to suspect there was something underlying that Trixie was relieved from now, but this is so hard – so young and so sweet. You are so kind to be so grateful for her brief time with you. I know our entire community joins me in sending you our deep and sincere sympathy. I will be thinking of you and hope to hear from you to let us know how you are doing. I had a canvas picture of my girl made and I pet it and talk to her every day. Maybe you would like to have one of Trixie. https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/pet-poster/
                                Cathy, I hope this heartfelt {{HUG}} helps you a little bit. Toni

                                  @youngtoday73 Linda, love is love, and it comes in many packages – cats, dogs, snakes, birds, little furry things and big scaly ones ๐Ÿ™‚ The joys we share are inimitable, and the pain of parting is deep. Our community welcomes ALL pets and animal people, and are here to celebrate the good times and share the hard, sad ones. By the way, WHY can\’t you have cats where you live? Here are pictures of my beloved Beauty Girl and my new ( not so litlle) \”monster\” – Boots ๐Ÿ™‚
                                  • Thank you. Actually, I can have a cat or dog that’s not over 25 lbs. & my 18vyr. old grandson said this longtime friend (a girl) her cat is pregnant & she said he gets the 1st pick. Seeing he already has it in his mind/heart to decide (without my help/opinion); to pick one for me, I did not have the heart to tell him if I wanted a boy or girll. So whichever one he getse I will be so happy/happier to have a new baby in my home. 👍🥰🌈💜❤️
