Thanks for checking on me. Once in a while I think maybe I am doing better. But, I still am not able to get through a day without tears. I am t lonely and this staying home by myself day after day and this dreary weather isn’t helping. I have come to the decision that I need a new little furbaby. My Bruce and several others are looking to see if anyone has a little girl they are looking to re-home. so far, nothing. I am trusting God that if is His will, in time we will find one. View

This touched my heart. I pray it might help others:There’s a chubby man in our living room
And he’s happy as can be
Drinking milk and eating cookies
And leaving packages under our tree
Oh no I’ve just been spotted
As he he motions for me to “COME HERE”
Then he says hey boy take a look outside,
Oh my gosh the yard is covered with deer!
I slide out the doggy door
Like I do most every day,
While the chubby man finished up inside,
He says I must be on my way!
Now it’s all making sense to me,
That’s no regular guy at all,
He’s the one mom had me take a picture with,
In that large chair down at the mall!
He asked me if I had been good,
As I replied YES SIR!
Then he laughed and gave me a treat,
He was the nicest man in the world!
He told me to get back inside,
After his reindeer I did meet,
Then he pulled out a handkerchief
To wipe the mud off of my feet,
The hardest part is hiding the evidence,
But I’ve been doing this for years,
Then he said he had been watching me,
As I licked… -

I am so sorry that your kitty isn’t doing well. I am praying.
The closer it gets to Christmas, the more difficult it is for me. I did get out Sunday afternoon to volunteer at our local Museum for the Christmas Train Wonderland. Most of the time I can stay busy during the day. My worst time is the long evenings and nights. Today, the tears just will not stop. I try to comment on other people’s posts but that brings tears too. I keep praying that I will get past the worst of this terrible pain. -

I will be my family Christmas morning for brunch at my niece ‘s. But, I usually have them Gere sometime between Christmas and New Years. I am not doing that this year. Just can’t get the house ready and prepare the meal.-
That sounds purrrfect and lovely, Martha. And you know what? Let the ‘kids’ do the work this year. It’ll be good for you to get out of your house. Please let us know how your holiday was. I hope each day you are feeling a bit stronger. {HUG}

Today is the 4 month anniversary of my Missy \’s passing. I am just so lost without her. I usually have my family here during Christmas but I just can\’t bring myself to do it this year. Missy loved everyone and was always the center of attention.-
Oh Martha, I am so sorry. And I understand, we all do – it hasn’t been very long and holidays make everything so much more intense. I would be surprised if you WEREN’T crying still. Even if you don’t host the holiday, can you have your family with you? I’m sure they understand, don’t they? Maybe you could go to them this year…..Well, I’ll be here all holiday season so you feel welcome to share with us here. And, I have been, and will be thinking of you. Toni

Hi Martha. Checking in with you. How are you doing now? I’m anticipating saying goodbye to my beloved, sweet girl and thinking of your comments about tears – how they just overwhelm you at times. That’s happening to me. I hope you are feeling better, and continue to. Please let us know how you are.

Oh…I am so sorry to have you be so sad, and I understand, Martha. I swear, the holidays bring many different feelings and memories, and make it tougher in some ways, but hopefully also remind us to be grateful and happy for the lives and loves we have shared. This is an emotional period for all of us, and it is comforting to have us be here for one another. I hope you know I, and we, are sharing your grief and supporting you in your joys. Oh my Dawg …… she is too cute, Martha. Love the one in the dress, too. I’ve gifted my friends ornaments with their pets on them (sadly, one of my dear friends’ cat has lymphoma and the ornament is very meaningful to them). Yep. That is relatable, and understandable, Martha. I think it’s because the love we share is truly at a deep, soulful level – cellular in a way, and the tears really do come from a place that is different. You stay with us, we’re here for, and with you.

Thank you Toni. The tears just will not stop. Even when I am not consciously thinking about her they come. I wake up with my pillow wet with them.-
Yes, I get that, Martha. Did you know the chemicals in tears are different when they are from joy vs. grief? Tears can release ‘negative’ chemicals to help heal. Even though my old girl is doing okay now, sometimes I am overcome by tears from deep within – it’s not something we control, nor should we. I think we should each write down a happy memory every day and one day, you’ll be smiling (possibly through tears, but happy for the time you had together). It takes time, Martha. And these darned holidays just don’t help, do they?

Nothing new here. I am just with the grace of God, managing to make it day by day. Life is so very lonely without my precious Missy.-

Martha, It’s good to hear from you and have you share with us. It’s only been three months since you and Missy parted, and I think the holidays bring up memories that trigger strong emotions – good, and sad. It took me a long time to welcome a new love into my heart, but I am so filled with her love now that I am glad the time finally came for us. Maybe one day you will be ready, maybe not. Oh good. The author, Reagan Pasternak, is an actress who had a really hard time when Griffin died, and had to write this book/journal to help herself move through it. (You can listen to my Paw’d Cast interview with her by clicking the purple microphone icon on the upper right side of this page if you like.) It’s a good way to get out feelings and I think will make you feel better. But Martha, I hope you will embrace the fact that you shared your love and a wonderful life with Missy, and as sad as it is, our pets are only “on loan” to us. That’s the really hard part of loving, and being loved, so much. Let us know how you are coming along, and when you use the book, please let us know how it helps.

Martha, I am so sorry and still say it hasn’t been very long since Missy passed, and of course you are still very much in pain. If you want to journal and have a supportive, kind of ‘guided’ path through your grief you might find the book (in our shop) “Griffin’s Heart” helpful. Others in our community have found it helpful. But I think you are doing just what you need to – acknowledging and sharing your pain with people who really ‘get it’ and feel your sorrow with you. I’d love to hear more about Missy and see more pictures, and get to know her better. You are in my thoughts and I am sending you endless HUGS……
