    • This touched my heart. I pray it might help others:

There’s a chubby man in our living room
And he’s happy as can be
      Drinking milk and eating cookies
And leaving packages under our tree
Oh no I’ve just been spotted
As he he motions for me to “COME HERE”
Then he says hey boy take a look outside,
Oh my gosh the yard is covered with deer!
I slide out the doggy door
Like I do most every day,
While the chubby man finished up inside,
He says I must be on my way!
Now it’s all making sense to me,
That’s no regular guy at all,
He’s the one mom had me take a picture with,
In that large chair down at the mall!
He asked me if I had been good,
      As I replied YES SIR!
Then he laughed and gave me a treat,
He was the nicest man in the world!
He told me to get back inside,
After his reindeer I did meet,
Then he pulled out a handkerchief
To wipe the mud off of my feet,
The hardest part is hiding the evidence,
But I’ve been doing this for years,
Then he said he had been watching me,
As I licked away my mommy’s tears,
See , this year had been a bit rough,
As my fur brother was called home by God,
      I miss him really badly
As he pulled our door and checked the knob,
He asked me to give mom extra love,
As she goes through this tough time,
And to lick away every one of her tears
And always make sure she is fine.
Please remind her if you can,
As I must finish up my last thousand miles,
      That goodbye doesn’t mean forever,
It just means See you in a little while!
He said he needed me to do,
The job that I really do best,
To always stay by my mommy’s side,
Even when her faith is put to the test,
Then I thought about all those presents,
That this large man left under our tree,
The best gifts in life can not be bought,
In fact they are totally free,
The gift of love and friendship,
Are what my mom needs in every way
To give her strength and inspiration,
To make it through another day!
This job in life may seem to many,
As though it is a life long chore,
But I love being my mom’s EVERYTHING!
BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT DOG’S ARE FOR!

Dedicated to everyone who has lost a best friend , two legs or four, in this past year!

      • This is just charming, Martha. Thank you for sharing it with us. I do hope it helps. This is really weird because this past week, I started writing a little poem for my cat and I’d like to invite all of our community members to share their own original or inspirational poetry with us. Hugs, Toni
        • It touched my heart when I saw it. I have shared it here and on several FB groups.
