Thank you all for your kind words, I will never recover from his loss, each day gets harder without him, he was my strength on my weak days and my sunshine on my dark days, I have MS and he kept me going everyday, I knew he would never make it without me as I have found out, I’m barely making it without him, it’s been a little over 7 months since he passed,

I lost my Soul Harry on 10/16/22 , he was my entire world for 14 years, I rescued him from a puppy mill but he really rescued me,

      • LaRonda, I am so very sorry. Yes it hurts unlike any other pain – they are a part of our souls indeed. I hope you will allow yourself to think of what you saved Harry from and find comfort knowing he had the best life with you. Harry would want you to be happy for the years you shared, do you think? I’m sure he was happy and grateful for your love and care. If there is a downside to loving pets it is that they aren’t with us long enough, no matter how long it is. That’s something we take on when we take in a beloved dear friend. Please join our group meeting Thursday May 18th to talk about Harry. It can help. And know we are here for you with sympathy and understanding. Toni
        • Hi LaRonda, I love what you say about Harry: first you rescued him and then he rescued you. They do that, don’t they? It is hard to go on without him but he became part of you and that will never go away. He made you into who you are now and he’ll want you to look forward, eventually. Part of grieving is to learn how to feel them inside of you and to accept that while you lost their bodies their soul cannot be taken away from you. And that will give you the strength and courage to love again. You’ll never replace him in your heart but because you are richer than when you were before you met him you will be able to give again. And that’s beautiful. The sadness will never quite go away but the pain will get weaker – and your heart will be bigger. Sending you good wishes!
          • So sorry for your loss. I understand completely how you feel. My boy passed a few months ago and like you, my boy saved me. I didnt rescue him, he came to me at a time when I didn’t want to live anymore. My son gifted him to me so I would have a reason to live. Romeo was my reason and now he’s gone. This grief is the worst and I am right back where I was before he came into my life. I wish you peace send you hugs 🫂 to comfort you during this sad time. 💔

              • LaRonda, grief has no timetable and it can be years, or never, until you open your home and heart to another. It may be sooner though. We are not “replacing” our beloved, we’re sharing a loving lfe with another who needs and deserves a good life. Perhaps one day you will be ready for that. Do you think Harry would be happy for you both? You might start a “Joy” list of all the wonderful times you and Harry shared for 14 years – it’s a way to remember how much you added to each others lives. Please come to our group June 15th and you will hear from others who understand and will support you. The link is under “Events” on the right side of this page. {{BIG HUGS}}. Toni
                • Hi, LaRonda, this must be so hard! I am sorry life is so dark for you these days. And I am sure Harry would want you to open your heart again. As Toni says, we can never and we don’t want to replace a beloved pet. Harry was unique and will stay forever in your heart. But I am sure he has friends and fellows who are desperate to find a home. You can save someone from having a life in a shelter who would like your love and attention. You can do it for Harry, dedicate it to Harry. There is so much need out there and you can do something about it. You have love to give – and receive. Please consider it. Best wishes to you!
