I am slowly accepting my mama cat being gone.
My heart breaks for Oscar because him and mama cat were a bonded pair.
He walks around lost, looking for her.Mama cat was his world. But I told my 10 year old granddaughter to give Oscar lots of love.
She was talking to Oscar and told him Mama George was not suffering anymore, and he was listening to her.
But everyday is getting better, because my mama cat isn’t suffering anymore.I miss her.-
Dianne, I think of you every day. I truly do, My old girl wasn’t eating today, and I thought of you and George because she went through times like that, too. But, my girl ate tonight :-)…. You and your stories about George, Oscar and the paths you are walking are very meaningful, in case you don’t already know that. That’s why we are here, and here for you, and everyone who loves, and has loved, and will love, our most cherished pets. Each day I anticipate the moment when I’ll find my beloved girl gone – it’s grueling. But, she wakes up and lets me love her, and I remind myself to cherish these times with her and not get ahead of things….. oops, sorry, didn’t mean to make it about ‘my pet’…Dianne, you are doing well, and you did well for her. Take comfort in that. As we’ve discussed – she had her design, as do we all, don’t you think?-
Hi Toni.I cherished George very much.It is hard to have senior pets and not knowing when there will be a time when they don’t wake up.Because George was fading, rapidly, I intended on having her put to sleep, but she went her way,on her terms.I do believe that kiss on my cheek, the Sunday before she had her accident, washer way of telling me goodbye, and she loved me.She has never kissed me on my face where I actually felt her tongue.I believe too,it was her way of thanking me for all of the years we had together, and I am forever honored to be George’s mom.-
This is so lovely, Dianne. Thank you for sharing your sincere, sweet sentiments.

Hi Toni.
I have accepted George’s accident,in baby steps.Every day is a new day that I have accepted as she is gone.I now believe, mama cat was looking for a way of going on her own terms, and maybe her getting struck by a vehicle was her way of going “home”.Does that make sense?I miss her.
As for Oscar,he is so lost without her. They had six kittens together many years ago.And even when she was not her best,he would groom her every day.He walks the house looking for her.He waits by my front door waiting for me to carry her in,and when I am not carrying her,he looks like he lost his best friend.
He now chortles, which I believe he calls for her,but she doesn’t answer. My heart breaks for him.But I give Oscar a lot of love, and the last thing I want is him passing away from a broken heart. But now he has his younger brother Irish to keep him from total loneliness.
I am doing better.I have to. -

I have two cats. The reason I believe Irish is staying inside is to comfort Oscar. He loved George too.
I am beginning to accept the fact that George wanted to go out, because she was ready to go on her terms. And maybe she did.I am trying my best to cope.-
You should still be very emotional – it’s only been a week. You are wrestling with so many thoughts and feelings, and the only way to go is straight through, which you are doing . That’s why we’re here for and with you – to let you share and get it all out. Hang in there, Dianne.

It has been eight days since mama has been gone.
I really hope no pet parent has to undergo what I have been through.Getting a knock at my door, and someone holding Mama’s collar saying she got hit and killed…AND…having to go pick up her lifeless body and the bury her.I feel guilty about it.She would be 15 next April, and had dementia and was visually impaired.I hope she felt no pain.
I am trying so hard to get over her accident, but I can’t.I wake up looking for her.I have been telling her good night, and that I am so sorry she got hit.
I am having a hard time dealing with it.
When I had to put my senior Sheltie to sleep due to cancer,it was extremely hard on me because I adopted her when she was over a year and a half old.But with George,I raised her from a seven week old kitten. It was very hard on me when I had to put Bessie my Sheltie to sleep. She was my travelling companion,my sleeping companion, but most of all my best friend.
So see,I have a lot to deal with.-
Dianne, of course you are still reeling. It’s only been a very short time since George is gone. And in such a shocking way. I still think it was her destiny – that she was compelled to go out. Guilt comes naturally after an experience like yours, but I think you are the only one seeing it that way. She was ailing and is now at peace. I shared the story of my dear little kitten, Nicki, who never went out and one night threw herself out the door and got hit and killed. I know how guilty I felt, but truly think they have a design of their own. It’s good to have you share your feelings with us. Please let us know, as often as you like, how you are doing. Share some more pictures, and tell us about Oscar, Princess and Irish. How many cats do you have? It’s wonderful of you to share with them and I hope they are bringing you some comfort. HUGS…Toni

Where do I begin? I am having a tough time dealing with my mama cat’s death.I have a range of mixed emotions going on.
But,if I had mama put to sleep,it may have been easier for me to deal with.. I don’t know.
I feel lost without her.Last year my mom died on April 4th.Then 12 days later my 14& 1/2 year old Sheltie passed away from cancer.
So everything I love, seems to be taken from me.
I don’t know -

Today is just a blah day.I woke up looking for mama.Oscar and Princess really miss her.He walks around meowing for her, looking in places she would hide.Princess notices her best friend is not here. They are mourning with me.I cannot get the image of mama out of my mind from having to pick up her body, kissing her face and telling her I am sorry that I didn’t look for her.I feel horrible because nobody knew how or when she got out.
-
Yes, this is so hard, Dianne. Even if you had looked for her, she was probably already gone. Oscar and Princess, like you, will be missing her. Seeing places she used to go will bring her to mind, and your sadness and pain will take time to heal. One day, you will find yourself smiling with her memory, but not just now. Share lots of love and sympathy with Oscar and Princess, and let them love you back. I am so sorry.

Thinking of you and yours, Dianne

I feel so lost without her.I have had George since she was a kitten.I am so used to her making biscuits on me at night, and her sharing my pillow with me.Even though she was not at her best,Sunday she came up and kissed my cheek while I was laying in bed.She has never done that before.
A piece of my heart went with her.
She was buried under my window by living room.I place three prickly pear cactuses on top with a solar light.I placed the solar light there so her spirit can find her way back to visit me.
My house isn’t the same anymore.
I do believe she wanted out of the house,so she could go home on her terms.
Even though she was coming down with memory issues and whatever,I still loved her to the moon and back. And she gave me unconditional love in return.I couldn’t have asked for such a wonderful cat.
I just hope she doesn’t hate me for not looking for her sooner. -

So last night after we buried George,my son went home and I walked around to the front of my house.I stopped in my tracks as I saw mama cat standing in the road.I called “George!” and then she was gone.
I honestly believe she kept wanting to get out because she knew it was her time to go” home”and because she loved me so much, she didn’t want me to see her passing away at home.
I am so glad she isn’t suffering anymore.
George and I have so many wonderful memories together. -

Toni,Mama George has never wanted outside.Until the last week. She got out once. Then we were all sitting in the house and nobody noticed she got out.But I think she knew she was ready to go “home”.My heart is broken. -

I am numb.I am at a loss of everything right now.I feel very sick.
I feel really GUILTY about not looking for mama cat.I actually thought she was inside with Oscar.I feel so lost without her.She would have been 15 years old next April.-
Oh Dianne. She seemed to want to go outside lately, didn’t she? I wonder if she was so unwell, she wanted “out” literally. Yes, you feel guilty but I truly think that’s not true. I’ll share my story to tell you why I think you didn’t have a choice about it for her: My kitten Nicki never wanted to go outside. I had to pick her up and take her. One night my cat Chivo came in the sliding doors and Nicki jumped over her to get out – it was very strange for her to do. After awhile, when Nicki didn’t come in, I sent Chivo to look for her and Chivo came back and I knew, just knew, that Nicki had been hit and killed by a car. Guilt is a huge part of what we feel, but I really think Nicki was somehow compelled to go out. That may sound odd, but she NEVER went out on her own, and to jump over Chivo (who was her adopted mother) was way out of character. So, I’m not sure we have the control over their actions as much as we would like. Of course I am, and we all are, just devastated for you, and her. I know how you have worried each moment about her health challenges. I am so sad and sorry, and I hope you will allow yourself to grieve with kindness for yourself, and that soon you will find happiness with the memories you made together. Toni

I don’t know where to start…
My mama cat somehow got out of the house, and was struck and killed by a car.
A very nice lady brought me her collar, and showed me where she was. -

****sigh****
I just do not know what to do for my mama cat.She is so thin, that I honestly hope people don\’t think I am not feeding her, because she does eat twice a day.Her previous vet said she has IBS.Her stools are becoming formed but she isn\’t gaining weight.I now give her yogurt because it has probiotics in it.See the photos? My Chihuahua Princess is 11.The tuxedo cat on the right is 19 year old Oscar. And the bottom is mama. She is 14.The three eat twice daily.I live on a monthly fixed income and do not drive.I do not have anyone who can financially help pay for a vet visit, plus and lab work.
I too have IBS,so I know what mama cat is going through.I eat like she does, but then I have a sudden IBS flare up like she\’s had.I went from 124.6 pounds, down to117 pounds.
My heart is breaking because I know what I have to do…
Please don\’t judge me.-
No one will question your decisions, Dianne. We all make what we hope are the best choices. I wonder if you could give her to a rescue or shelter where they may be able to get her in shape, and adopted? Was Waggle.org able to help you? They may be able to pay the vet for her. https://www.waggle.org/

Dianne, how are things going for you all? I didn’t know you had Princess and Oscar, too. It’s nice to see all three of their pictures. Thank you for sharing those with us.

Hello.I am quite sick feeling. You see, around 11 pm or so, somehow,my 14 year old mama cat got out of my house. She is visually impaired and it rained really hard last night. She was not wearing her collar, but had been microchipped, but the microchip expired. This morning it is very cold outside.I am not having a good day.
-
Dianne, can you call your animal control people (our phone umber is 311 – I don’t know if you have the same system) and ask them to patrol your area? She may be under a porch, or maybe someone let her in their house. A cat of mine once got stuck in the roof eave across from me. It was terrible because I could hear her crying but didn’t know where she was. They get into the darndest places. Let us know what’s going on.

Hello, well my mama cat isn’t having runny diarrhea anymore.I am going to have her tested for parasites.
-
Dianne, I am so happy to hear your update. I think of you and George every day, and think it’s because my old girl has similar problems. She had blood in her stool again a few weeks ago and there were no parasites, so we’ve added another dose of antibiotic. She has so many health challenges….But! It sounds as if George has a single issue that may be controllable once you identify what’s going on. Just curious – have you contacted Waggle.org and have they helped you? Thank you Dianne, for letting us know, and please let us know what you find out. Toni
