Why People Care More About Pets Than Other Humans
[bpfb_link url=’http://www.wired.com/2015/04/people-care-pets-humans/’ title=’Why People Care More About Pets Than Other Humans | WIRED’ image=’http://www.wired.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/0410-IG-dogs-582×437.jpg’]Newspaper editors tell me animal abuse stories often get more responses from readers than articles about violence against humans. Do Americans really care more about pets that people?[/bpfb_link] -

Benny is the same way, @Melissa_Ritts. Pretty much follows my daily routine. He isn’t a morning puppy though!

Sounds like you have some work cut out for you. Have you tried taking both of them on a walk together?

Cool. I don’t have a motorcycle but my parents do. I think I’m going to bring this up to them – my mom bought a stroller for her dog…… She’d love this!

Oh I bet she’d love it too ๐ Here’s a picture of all it’s pieces http://scooterworkschicago.com/accessories/luggage-and-carriers/#

Sounds so fun!!! So basically a typical dog park is a fenced in area where they can be unleashed?

Thanks for the heads up. Benny sometimes gets “excited” when he sees other dogs (depends on the dog – some he’s fine with right away, others he barks at) but calms down after a little bit… Kind of makes me nervous – just don’t know how to ease into letting him roam around at a dog park. Fingers crossed it goes well once it warms up more.

I wish I had more time to teach Benny more tricks but I’ve used treats as encouragement in the past. How about you?

Any tips / suggesstions for going to a dog park? Benny and I have never been to one… Let me know what to expect?!
-
They are a lot of fun. I only ever had one problem with a chow going after my husky. The dogs are pretty social and they play pretty well together. It’s hilarious…but it’s a lot like taking your kid to the playground. Keep a watchful eye for your dog’s comfort level and signs of them not feeling safe or overwhelmed by all the other dogs there. Good dog parks will have two areas – one for large dogs and one for small dogs.

You might start off by keeping him leashed and do a couple laps around the park before you let him off lead. That will help him to be comfortable with his surroundings a little more. And treats!

Cody I have taken Satchmo to a Dog park near me quite often. They are so fun…..ours has a smaller fenced area for smaller dogs and the ability to go in with the big Dogs if he wishes……good to have the option especially if he’s not used to being chased by some big ones! I bet he will love it though…..

Yes, and it usually has a double gate. So open the first gate into a small pen and close it after you before you open the next gate to the park area. This keeps dogs from rushing out and getting away.

Sweet! Where do they sell those?
-
You can get them on Amazon or any place that sells motorcycle luggage/saddle bags. This one is made by Saddleman.
