For the most part…as long as she’s where ever we are, she’s happy to nap or to play. She gets up when we do and goes to bed when we do.

I worked a lot with Shey when she was a puppy. I had her trained to do a lot of things and used treats and praise. As she got older, I didn’t keep up on it so she forgot a lot of it..and I understand now why she didn’t “give paw” anymore…I wouldn’t want to lift up one of my legs if I couldn’t depend on the others either ๐
With Tidbit, I have tried a few different ways to teach her things but she doesn’t seem to interested. I have tried several times over the years to teach her to play and she doesn’t really take to toys or balls.

Yes, and it usually has a double gate. So open the first gate into a small pen and close it after you before you open the next gate to the park area. This keeps dogs from rushing out and getting away.

You might start off by keeping him leashed and do a couple laps around the park before you let him off lead. That will help him to be comfortable with his surroundings a little more. And treats!

You can get them on Amazon or any place that sells motorcycle luggage/saddle bags. This one is made by Saddleman.

Cool. I don’t have a motorcycle but my parents do. I think I’m going to bring this up to them – my mom bought a stroller for her dog…… She’d love this!

They are a lot of fun. I only ever had one problem with a chow going after my husky. The dogs are pretty social and they play pretty well together. It’s hilarious…but it’s a lot like taking your kid to the playground. Keep a watchful eye for your dog’s comfort level and signs of them not feeling safe or overwhelmed by all the other dogs there. Good dog parks will have two areas – one for large dogs and one for small dogs.
-
Thanks for the heads up. Benny sometimes gets “excited” when he sees other dogs (depends on the dog – some he’s fine with right away, others he barks at) but calms down after a little bit… Kind of makes me nervous – just don’t know how to ease into letting him roam around at a dog park. Fingers crossed it goes well once it warms up more.

Speaking of Miss Tidbit…I have a pet carrier for my motorcycle now! My sweetie got it for me on my birthday. Now she can go riding with me! I’m so excited for warm weather to show up! ๐

So for the most part, even though I miss my beautiful Shey, I know that she is no longer in pain or confused about what’s going on with her. I take comfort in that. My little Tidbit is getting tons of love and cuddles and doing very well.
But I don’t know what to say to my friends who keep sharing pictures of available huskies for adoption. They are each gorgeous, but I know how much work huskies are – especially when they are young! I would not have changed a thing about my Shey, but I’m enjoying having just Tidbit for now.

Watching the snow pile up and missing my beautiful baby. We loved to play in the snow and have snow fights.

As long as it’s not super cold, she doesn’t mind the snow. She has a coat that I put on her…but when it gets about 15 or below, she doesn’t like it one bit!

This was my little Tidbit when I brought her home in 2007. She was just skin and bones – rescued from a puppy mill.

She is a Chihuahua-Miniature Pincer mix. They weren’t completely sure about the Min-Pin but she’s mixed with something. She’s bigger than a typical Chihuahua

I tried booties and socks because her feet get so cold she can’t move…but she flicks them off and it takes forever to get them on! LOL
-
hahaha same thing with Satchmo…..BUT he won’t go in the snow without them either! A total Catch 22 lol

Benny loves playing in the snow. It’s great.

I’m going to try to find some better booties. I’ll let you know what I find, and if you find a type that works best, let us know.

LOL..she was trying to that day! It was cold and the snow was over head. She wanted no part of it! ๐
I’m doing pretty good. I shared some of Shey’s toys with the neighbor’s dog..they were too big for Tidbit…and I have never been able to get Tidbit interested in playing with toys. I am going to try to work with her again now that she doesn’t have a side kick to play with.

I suspect most family members, including our pets, share hours, but when I was growing up my Mother stayed up very late reading, I rose early. Our pets were always up before I was and came to bed with me. Anyone else?
