Buddy is the one remaining cat of the original pack and he is now on thyroid meds / just in the last two months. He is sad. He used to have 4 siblings he could sit on the deck with or sit at the pool with Pixar his older bro he antagonized for years but now all the newer cats and kittens will not be going outside. Two are Egyptian Mau breeds and I fear I will never see them again if they get their freedom to run (up to 40km p/hr apparently!). The kittens are just too young of course and frankly I don’t agree cats should be let to roam – getting out with supervision is much different but I have trained my Egyptians to stay in now after 6 years but my husband loves his outdoor time with Buddy and I know he misses Pixar at the pool or Skank catching rays on the deck with her hubby Daddy (bozo’s parents) and wants to see Buddy happy too – so it’s a bit of an argument between us about the kittens and how we train them….ugh! -

Thank you Toni. I find it difficult to share my true grief – my husband will break out in sobs and it makes me uncomfortable and also feel like why is HE so upset? It was ME who raised her She was MINE! And if I want to cry he protests and says things like let’s not cry about that now. I WANT TO CRY. I feel my marriage is breaking apart because of our losses (x4) in less than a year has been more either of us has ever dealt with and we don’t know how to deal with each other either. It doesn’t help with the grief when your marriage isn’t going well either. -

Nothing really new other than I don’t cry as oft or hard but the pain is still in my chest when I do think of her. I miss you, Bozo.-
It’s good to hear from you Diana. I’ve been feeling those pains these past few days as we approach the anniversary of BG’s passing. I’ve decided to think more about all the great times we had before then and that really helps me feel happy and grateful. How are your other kitties doing now? -

ugly crying continues here and there. It’s been 15 days….I feel lost and wander my house sometimes like one of my other 6 cats…lost, looking for her…I’ve never had such a connection with a cat and she was so special. She was born into my hands! I had her mama and daddy upto a year ago…her brothers and sisters (adopted by family) also passed prior to her. She was the last to go of the family. I didn’t want to let her go. This is so hard….-
Diana, I am so so sorry. It hasn’t been very long, and you have lost so many in recent years. I understand a “special connection” – the pain of parting leaves a huge hole in your soul. I hope your other cats bring you comfort. They are mourning, too and need your comfort. The holidays make it hard, with memories of holidays past, and I hope you will let us know how you are doing. {{HUGS}. Toni

Diana, this is a time of extreme loss and grief for you both. A neutral party, like a couples therapist, may be able to help you both communicate through this troubling time. Grief will find a way to express itself and I hope you allow yourself to get it out. Did you know the chemicals in tears of joy are different than in tears of grief? I think that says a lot about the need to physically express our pain – it helps cleanse some toxins when we cry. Let us know if you and your husband visit a therapist. I hope you find some effective ways to move forward together. {HUGS}
