Hi Sandy. Sorry it took me a day to respond – I’ve been busy, as you will read when I post an update. You are right, it takes time to learn how to live without those we love and who were our constant companions. Perhaps you will find comfort in keeping busy, doing all those little things you never got around to, and please make time to get out and talk to people, or volunteer at a shelter. It helps to interact and be busy. Exercise is fabulous always and especially now, if you can. One day, you may be ready to open your home and heart to another doggie in need of a loving home. Thank you for your kind greetings. He is really sweet and I can’t believe he is with me, it happened so fast. This handsome boy is about ten and what a difference it makes from a youngster – nice energy but not “off the rails kittenhood”, you know? He seems to be comfortable with me. He came from a small, sterile apartment and now lives in a roomy home with lots of soft, squishy surffaces made for a kitty. In fact, I think my whole life and household are built around pets. That’s a good thing. I will update about Walter/Wonder from time to time. Please, you all update us here, too, and share your own stories and feelings. I am so happy to be a part of this kind, caring, understanding group. HUGE HUGS all around! Toni -

Marybeth, you nailed it. No one “replaces” another. But boy does a good Fezziwig heal our hearts and fill the empty spaces. Too, too cute. Thank you for the smiles, and hope, you are sharing with us here. It means so much to have the understanding and support of our community members. I hope to hear much more from you, and see pictures of your life with adorable Fezziwig. Oh, and how did he come by that name??!! Toni -

@geraldine1957 Geraldine, did you say goodbye to your friend Walter? I am so sorry. And a little freaked out because I just adopted a cat whose given name is Walter. Please, tell us about your Walter and show us some pictures (just click the camera icon on the bottom left of this comment section). Margie, if you don’t want to do anyhting – don’t do anything. That’s okay. One thing you can do when you are ready, think of a fun time, a loving moment. Then expand those to the many times you shared good times, fun and love. Allow yourself to be happy for the lives you were graced to share. What a wonderful treat in your lives – to be together for as long as you could be. It’s never going t be long enough. But it was as long as you had and I hope you find joy in knowing how you made his life better. We are thinking of you, Margie, and want you to reach out to us. We have open arms, and hearts. Toni -

Amy, I am so sorry. Do you find a few happy memories creeping in though? Thoughts that bring you smiles with her memory? I hope so because that is a part of the gift, and the pain of loving our darlings. She would want you to be happy, thrilled, for your lives together, do you think? -

It is never enough time, but it is the time we are allowed to care and share. Some of us have said goodbye to 9 month olds, two year olds, 20 year olds….we don’t know how long we will get to be together, but we can make every moment grand and full of love. -

Big News (and a huge surprise)!! I always say the universe hears us, and look what it delivered to me! This sweet ten year old boy was recently orphaned when his human died and he is now living with me. I am delighted and hope he feels the same :-). He needs lots of attention and lets me brush him, he sits with me, talks to me, and follows me. We\’re seeing the vet tomorrow for a full physical and a \’caticure – his claws are really long and he doesn\’t want me to clip them just yet. I wasn\’t expecting to meet \”Walter\” – I think I\’ll call him Wonder – and I feel so grateful and happy to have a new love in my home and life. I\’ll keep ypu posted about Wonder (what do you think of that name?). And please, let us know how you are doing. Toni-

I am so sorry, Taylor. He sure was a cutie. While we would like to have them with us forever, sadly our pets are only on loan to us. It hurts deeply to say goodbye but the memories of the fun, loving wonderful life you shared bring a lot of joy. I hope you are finding smiles when you think of Marbles. Margie, do you have a friend or family member to be with you? It’s a terrible shock when they pass suddenly. Could you call Zeke’s vet and have them help you? Can they come to your home? If not, please try to have someone drive you, and let us know what you do, and how you are. Toni -
