Such a good “mom” to those chicks. Isn’t that sweet? We love seeing your pictures and hearing stories about Mae and the ‘kids’. Thank you for sharing with us, Martha. 🤗 -

How very kind of you, Kat. Knowing something is wrong, I’m watching him for signs of discomfort. So far he seems okay but the liquid stool indicates the medicines haven’t yet kicked in. If I see he is in distress, I will let him go for his peace and comfort. In our heads, we know that is the best for him, but boy, in our hearts we never want to say goodbye. Love that you got the pillow (we have them in our Shop, too) because I found comfort sleeping with a stuffed animal. Something to hold on to.
DO come to the group on Th. March 16th. Change your clocks this weekend! You’ll get an email with the link, it will be posted here that day, but here it is for you. I look forward to meeting you, and thank you again for your kindness.💕Topic: Faithful Friends March Group Meeting

Oh Gabe, what a touching story. Perhaps you can find a bit of comfort knowing you were very much “in tune” knowing it was ‘his time’ and that he passed in the loving comfort of your arms in his own way. 💔
Growing together through the ups, downs, secrets and hopes creates a very special bond and it is understandable that you are in deep grief, and that his brother is mourning, too, and that you are comforting each other. The one thing I notice most is how empty the house is. I took comfort from sleeping with a stuffed animal and having a canvas made of my favorite photo. And sharing with others. Please continue to share here with us, and at our group meeting on the 16th. (You’ll get an email with the link and it will be posted here that day). Gabe, It hasn’t been long enough for you to find mostly smiles with your memories, but please try to recall the many years of joy and love you shared.I hope that helps ease the pain a bit. I am sending you a {BIG HIG}. Toni -

You do not have to say anything, Liz. But it is good to know we are all here together, and I think there is help and comfort knowing that. I am, and I know the entire community is, so truly sad and sorry about Jack. It’s hard to reconcile, isn’t it? Again, we’re here for you, Honey.💔 -

Oh Liz, how tragic. And how beautifully you express your love. I had a kitten hit and killed and it is such a devastating blow. It’s hard enough when they are old or ailing and we anticipate their passing, but nothing prepares us for a sudden loss. And yes, we do bond on a deeper level with some pets, just as with people., and losing them hurts at a soulful level. I am truly so very sad and sorry, Liz. I think you should join our group meeting March 16th to talk about Jack Sparrow with us. You will find undertsanding and kind support from our group. You’ll get an email with the link. As we wait for that, please keep talking with us here. We’re listening with open hearts. {{HUGE HUG}} Toni -

Unhappy news about Walter. He has a mass where his small and large intestines meet, pancreas is enlarged, some lymph node changes, etc. Things are going to hell inside poor little Walter. I have decided to treat him until he exhibits discomfort, then give him a peaceful passing. At 15 years of age, surgery is not in his best interest, in my pet parenting opinion based on experiences. So here we are again – in my head, intellectually I can come to terms. In my heart I am devastated. The promise we make when we share our homes and hearts is to always do what we deem best for them, and that time is once again upon me. I can\’t tell you all how much it means to know you understand and will be thinking of darling Walter.-
I am so sorry, Toni!

I am so sorry about Walter. Pooh had a bad gallbladder and it worsened. I kept saying I understood that she needn’t hold on, but my heart wasn’t, and still isn’t, ready to let go. It’s amazing how these bundles of love get into your being and makes us feel so secure. Prayers with you because I KNOW what you are going thru. Please message e anytime you need to unload. Bless you.

Mae is quite the mascot, Martha. She reminds me of our old dog, Moses. When I was about six, daddy brought chicks home and Mosie just loved them like his own little babies. How sweet. The VA should really give Mae a title. “Official Mascot” or something. Keep us posted on Mae and the chicks, and thank you for sharing this cheery story and photos. Toni -

This is a powerful story, Steve, and thank you for sharing it with us. I am so very sorry. May I ask her name? It sounds as if she, gratefully, was not in pain, and she didn’t linger long with her illness. Those are good things. Unfortunately, our pets are only “on loan” to us, always for too short a time, but she had a long and loving life with you, didn’t she? Better than living under a machine or on the streets, for sure. It also sounds as if you did everything for her – much as we may want to do more, there is only so much we can do. I question doing too much sometimes – is it really in their best interest, or ours? I am confident you thought only of her needs. It’s hard not to try to find guilt, but it really seems you are not entitled to that feeling. What is bringing you that feeling? She had her journey and ended in loving arms. The grief is real, and deep. It hurts in ways nothing else can. It helps to have your family share that with you, but we each must go through it in our own ways. For me, sleeping with a stuffed animal helped. And being able to talk about feelings with people who really understand and have gone through the process of healing. That’s why we are here – to listen and support you. Please join our monthly group meeting March 16th. We’ll send you an email with the link. In the mean time, stay active with us here and let us know what you are doing to ride this tidal wave of pain. It will ease, but not for awhile. I know everyone here is thinking of you with deep sympathy. Toni -

Hi Toni,
Our sweetheart was almost 13 years old. She was a rescue. I brought her home when she was a puppy from my workplace. Someone found her in the building hiding under a machine.
She was diagnosed with mast cell cancer three and one half weeks ago.
It had to have been more advanced than we thought, for she passed away Sunday morning February 26 at 4:02 am.
She was spoiled rotten, much loved, and is sorely missed.
I am not doing so well. I have mixed feelings of grief and guilt. Did we do enough ? I just don’t know. She passed at home with her Mom and me at her side. She was a fighter to the very end and showed no indication of being in any pain.
Thank you for your kindness and concern. -

Toni, it is understanacle that you are not the same. Any pet death is so very hard, but such a violent event is traumatic. Perhaps a few sessions with a highly trained trauma therapist would help you. If you want to contact me for help in finding one, please email me at [email protected]. And please, join our supportive group session March 16th. Toni, I am just crushed for you and am thinking of you. {{HUG}} Toni -
