Jean, This is the hard part of loving – saying goodbye💔Your gift of a comfortable, peaceful passing is the kindest, most selfless you can give Esmae. Knowing she will find release and relief is a good thing, but parting brings deep pain. We are here for you with kind undertsanding and sympathy. Please join our group meeting Thursday January 18th to share more with us. And do share your feelings here in our Community. You are in my thoughts. Toni -

Katrina and Maureen and Brony, and everyone who has lost and grieved a beloved pet:
Grief is NOT linear. It comes in waves. A glance down the pet food aisle can bring you to your knees. Time – time is what provides perspective that allows us to look back at the lives we shared and realize that, while we would like more time with our pets, forever wouldn’t be long enough, the time we were granted holds many wonderful, inspiring, happy and loving moments we wouldn’t want to forget. Nor will we. Our pets would want us to be happy for the life we shared, not miserable because of it.It is very hard to know when the “right” time to say goodbye is. Some doctors will say “Better two months early than two months late”, meaning we shouldn’t let our dear babies suffer needlessly because we find it too hard to grant them a comfortable, peaceful passing. I am guilty of it – letting my Beauty Girl go too long. Our pets know that we always are acting in only their best interest, always have, and are, at the time of saying goodbye. There is a comfort knowing our pets are not going to further decline and suffer. I hope you give yourselves the grace of knowing you acted from love.
Please, join our group meeting this month on January 18th if you can. I think you eill find it helpful, supportive and understanding, and a way to share with people who truly care. I do.

Maureen, you are a welcome and valued member of our community. Your words of support help others and I hope they help you as we crawl through this mire of grief with you💔Everyone moves forward at a different pace and we are here for, and with you all the way. Anniversaries bring up strong emotions and it is understandable that this first one has hit you hard. It does us all, I think. Can you remember the date you met Romeo? Perhaps that is a happier anniversary we can acknowledge. It’s not possible for everyone to open their homes and hearts again to another pet in need of a loving home, but I have found that to be the most healing thing for me. Not “replacing” my lost baby, but sharing a new life with another. Are you able to volunteer at a shelter where you can give and get love from needy babies, shy of bringing one or two home? If not, are there neighborhood pets with whom you can visit and offer to help? If you can join our group meeting January 18th, even for a short time, please do. I think it will bring you some comfort and encouragement to hear from other kind, caring bereaved pet parents. We are here, Maureen. {{Toni}}

You are a good friend to help her, Laurie. She needs to know there are others who truly undertsand the depth of her pain. Here are a few things you can do to help her:
1. Acknowledge her pain as real and deep. (which you’ve done, but keep doing)
2. Ask her what she is doing in memory of her beloved. Can she make a tribute box of favorite toys, blankets, photos?
3. Write to Princess telling her how she feels, and what she loves about their times together-fun, funny, loving and challenging times. She might also write what she thinks Princess would want her to know, as if written from Princess.
4. You can make a contribution in memory of Princess to a shelter.
5. Have your friend attend our group support meeting January 18th at 7PM Eastern The link is under “Events”.
6. Encourage her to light a candle and create a memorial to Princess in our caring community. She will find many kind people to lend her support.
Laurie, please let me know if this helps her, and how we might further support her.
I am sending you both my best wishes, and sympathy. Toni -

Barbara, Apache Princesss is fortunate that you are so sensitive and aware of her needs. She is telling you what she wants and you are providing that for her. That’s what we always aim to do, at any age or stage of our pets’ life, don’t you think? The hard part of loving is seeing the daily effects of aging, and we suffer the real, and imagined, process of that. You are giving her what she has always wanted – love and care, and I hope you will share her status, and yours, with us as we move along this path. We are here with you, and for you, Barbara. 💕Toni -

Leona, I applaud you for making pre-arrangements and providing for your fur babies in advance. 🙌Too many people don’t think to do that. I wrote an article about this that is in our Library – Estate Planning for Pets: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/category/estate-planning-for-pets/
Please stay in touch and feel welcome to lend your support to others in our Community. Toni -

Leona, it is nice that you think that way. Caring for, and loving, our pets includes letting them go to be out of pain. Please let us know how you fare, and share some pictures if you’d like. Toni -

It’s been 16 months since she has gone. I have her ashes and a very cute memorial for her made here. Arrangements will be done for the current cat I have when his time comes. I do that in advance, he even has someone to take care of him if I pass before him. That too has been arranged. He will stay in the home until his time comes. Someone will come in clean the house and take care of him and then once he’s gone proper arrangements can be made about the house. Till then this is his house. LOL.
