Yolanda, Is this Chloe? What a charming, sweet face. I am so sorry for your loss. Will you tell us about her and your lives together? How are you doing, Yolanda?
      • Yes this my sweet girl Chloe I had her for almost 13 years since she was only 3 months old. Sadly she passed away in her sleep while I was in the hospital and now I am home it so hard knowing she not here by my side she always by my side wherever I go ๐Ÿ™ I am trying my best to be strong but it too painful!

Jane, you are clearly a pet lover, and the hardest part of sharing loving times is parting. Do you have pets now?

Annette, here are some ideas I hope help you. Go to the “Find Services” tab at the top of our page and there is a drop-down menu which lists animal resources, including rescues and shelters. Enter your zip code to find those in your area. They may have ways to help you adopt. Almost every breed has a “Rescue” organization and may also be able to help you. Spring brings puppies and kittens and shelters may give you a break for adopting a more mature pet. Can you post a notice in your area that you are looking to adopt? Let’s see if others in our community have ideas to help you. Keep us posted on your progress. Good luck, Annette, I think a perfect pal will turn up. Toni

Kathy, I am sorry you and Dale Earnhardt have said goodbye. You need time to grieve and heal, and there is no timeline on that. It’s a nice statement about you that one of your sister’s dogs has such affection for you, they know loving people, and you will always be kind to animals. Now you need your sister to understand that you need some kindness, too, and that it would be considerate if she would visit with you without the dogs until you are ready to reengage with them. Did your sister’s dogs know DE? If so, they may be missing him, too, and are expressing their sadness to you, looking to you for a bit of comfort. Gradually you will all be able to spend joyful times together. I hope my thoughts help, and please let me know what evolves. Perhaps others in our community have some ideas to share with you. I’ll be thinking of you. Hugs, Toni
                      • THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS MY SISTER REALLY KNOWS WHAT I’M GOING THROUGH SHE HAD TO GIVE UP HER DOG’S A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND HER BOYFRIENDS DOG IS A DAUSHOND AND HE WAS AROUND DALE WHEN DALE WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD AND I CAN REMEMBER WHEN RUDY WOULD RUN UP TO DALE AND TRY TO GET HIM TO PLAY BUT RUDY WOULD RUN UP TO DALE FROM BEHIND AND THEN HE WOULD RUN AWAY AND I WOULD LIKE TO NOT HAVE MY SISTER’S DOG NOT BE WITH ME BUT BOTH OF THEM ARE ALLERGIC TO HER HAIR BECAUSE SHE HAS SKIN ISSUES AND SHE IS ALWAYS SCRATCHING AND BITING HER BACK SO SHE HAS TO SLEEP WITH ME AND SHE IS A LITTLE DOG AND I DON’T MIND TALKING ABOUT DALE BECAUSE I THINK THAT IF I TALK ABOUT DALE IT HELPS ME BUT I DIDN’T THINK THAT RUDY WOULD DO THE SAME THING’S AS DALE SO I TELL RUDY EVERY DAY THAT I LOVE HIM BUT HE IS #2 BECAUSE DALE WILL ALWAYS BE MY #1
                          • It sounds like you are all doing your best to deal with the sad situation, and that Rudy is seeking and giving you support, too, Kathy. Please keep us updated.
                              • YES RUDY IS HELPING ME A LOT I HAD TO MOVE BECAUSE I REALLY STARTING TO LOSE IT BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE THE MONEY TO CREMATE DALE SO I HAD TO BRING HIM HOME AND BURIED HIM IN THE BACK YARD I WOULD GO OUT AND SLEEP WITH HIM AND I WOULD GO AND SEAT AND EAT WITH HIM I WOULD EVEN SEE HIM IN THE HOUSE MY BED SO I HAD TO LEAVE HIM BEHIND AND THAT IS KILLING ME EVERY DAY AND I FEEL LIKE I HAVE LET HIM DOWN

Oh Jamie, that is shocking. I understand how hard walking into that room is. Maybe you can avoid it for awhile? If Smokey had cancer and was playing that morning, it sounds as if he wasn’t in much pain, which he no doubt would have been as the cancer progressed, do you think? So for his sake, maybe it was a kindness that he was happy and then passed so quickly. And maybe it was a kindness to you too, not having to watch him suffer. What do you think?

@bamagirl3 Hi Amy. It sounds as if you, like our community, are a devoted pet lover. Welcome to our furry family! Please tell us about Gizmo and Baxter – how long you were together, what type of pets they were … anything you would like to share. We always love seeing photos, too. Let us know how you are doing, and if you would like to extend your sympathies to others, please do. Toni

Dear Sandra, yes, you know you did the best thing for Ghost, the most selfless, loving thing you can ever do is to relieve them from suffering. The passage of time doesn’t lessen the love, but hopefully it allows you to think of the good times and the joy you shared. Is Littman still with you? Please, let us know how you are coming along. I’ll be thinking of you, and am sending you a HUG,

Steve, is this Lucky? What a gorgeous dog. I am so, so sorry for your loss. Clearly you and Lucky were very close and I am sure you ache for him. How long has it been? How long were you together? How are you doing? Wag and hug, Toni

@cmele4u Christine, that is possibly the cutest picture ever. What a little doll Lucy was. How old is she in this photo? How long were you together? What breed was she? I am truly sorry you and Lucy had to part, but I hope the love you shared comforts you. Hugs, Toni

@gerbil Wow Gerri – You are certainly a wonderful pet mom. Your babies each enjoyed long lives and, while it is so hard to say goodbye, you have to feel grateful for all the love you shared with them. You have other pets now?

                                • Toni Noel posted a new activity comment 5 years, 5 months ago

Thank you for the update, Connie. I’ve been wondering about Tank and am sorry he said goodbye. But, you are right – there is a time when the kindest, most generous act of love is to let them go. I am convinced they know, too, and are grateful for the release. Still, it’s a very sad time and we are here for you. Please let us know how you are coming along.

@shadowcat I am sorry for your losses of Midnite and Zeke, Helen. Please, tell us about them and feel welcome to share pictures. How are you doing?

                                    • @toni thank you! They have been gone quite a while but I still cry when I see pictures of them. Zeke I got from a rescue and he was a gift for my daughter. He developed a crystallized blockage in his bladder and wasnt able to relieve himself, I didnt have the money to get him the operation he needed so I had to put him down. Midnite,he was my baby he was a stray kitten that lived in our complex I took that really hard, I buried him in my garden on Halloween nite in pouring down rain crying my eyes out. My daughter actually made me a necklace with his picture on it. I wear it everyday. They are together over the rainbow Bridge so that brings me happiness.

Annette, I am sorry you and Smokey had to part. You can see he had a big personality and I understand how empty your home and heart feel. It hasn’t been very long for you and I hope, with time, you find smiles before tears. Was Smokey your only pet, or do you have others for company now?
                                        • My autistic son has a chiweenie and he is a sweetheart but he is my sons support animal. I have been looking for another furbaby for myself but the adoption fees are way too much for me. I miss smokey so bad!! I have been told that getting another furbaby will help heal my heart so im hoping. Smokey was the first animal ever that stole my heart and showed me the love i would have never known if not for smokey. He was amazing
