@minnemajs Jennifer, I am sorry for your losses of Callie and Zeus. What kind of pets were they? May we see some pictures?

Callie was our very first cat! 1990-2008 Cancer Leukemia
Then Allie and Molly kitties followed! All girls
Zeus was our 2nd dog. 2012-2017 Bone Cancer Ft Rt Paw
We now have 3 cats!
Star and Storm 2011 brothers, Kaia 2018 Naughty girl kitty! LOL-
I’m sorry for so many losses but I know they were loved by your family. We lost our Buddy beagle to throat and lung cancer. He was only 8 yrs. But he was a frisky thing! It wasn’t until the night before we helped him cross over that I knew it was time. The way he was acting was an absolute telltale sign. I laid with him and told him if it was time it’s ok. I would help him.
I’m so happy that you were able to love others . And I’m sure they were all happy also. You have a loving demeanor that helps you go forward. God bless !

The vet is no longer in practice and I don’t know what happened to the files.

Jill, are you speaking of Miss Kitty? Or Gizmo? I am sure you miss them both and understand that, from day to day, memories of one or the other come to the forefront. Would you like to share some pictures with us so we can be with you?-

Dolly, I do understand and know most of us in our community do …. this is a depth of loss that cuts deep and long. But we all know, in our heads, the love we shared is timeless. And some day we will have smiles before tears. It’s getting there that is so very hard. -

Susan, I think we are energetically connected. Really. We are bringing in a wonderful artist to do renditions of pet pictures that are shared and this image makes me think of that. Would you tell us about this image, please? Thank you for sharing your always uplifting and inspiring words here in our community. Valerie is suffering and I think would like to hear from you if you can reach out to her. Hugs-
Toni I too believe that some people are “energetically” connected. I am particularly drawn to this image because in my mind a person’s character is revealed by the way they treat animals.

Yes, you are, Valerie, and I completely understand. She is there in many ways and you are feeling her energy left behind. You really are not “cracking up” Honey. You are grieving, feeling her energy, and loving her even though she is not physically there. But, she IS there with you in your heart, soul and memory. The death of a beloved pet is such a deep, strong feeling. Your thoughts and feelings are not crazy – they are indicative of the depth of your love, and the endless bond you have. I do understand, and hope you find a place of gratitude for the great gift of sharing such an enduring love. You are not cracking up in the traditional sense, but you are deeply grieving, and that feels as crazy as the BIG LOVE you have. Valerie, go straight through your feelings – cry, rant…whatever you need, because that is the path to healing, and coming to a place of loving peace, and appreciation for the loving times you shared. I am so very. very sorry for your loss, and so very happy for the love you enjoyed. Please tell us how you are doing, Dear.-
Valerie, I speak to my Riley all the time, I find it comforting, as I’m sure you do when you speak to “Patch” In a way you are keeping her alive in your heart. So no, I don’t think you are “cracking up” I think that speaking to our lost pets is a way for us to cope with their being gone. So keep talking to her, it will help sooth your pain.

Joyce, you lost them both within a few months of each other and that was certainly a double blow to you. It can take any amount of time to move through grief and the pain of loss. I hope you have some smiles about good times you all had together, and that your heart feels lighter each day. Would you consider fostering a dog for company? Keep us posted on how you are doing.-
I applied to adopt another dog and was denied because my vet didn’t send the complete shot record. At this time, my son’s Pit Bull is staying with me and he keeps me company.

Well, right now maybe you are not supposed to feel joy. Deep grief and loss over run most other feelings so it is important that you go straight through those. I promise you – there is a time you will find smiles before tears. When that comes is not scheduled. It evolves. So Dolly, move through the motions as well as you can, with grace and kindness to yourself. Midnight would be wishing you the joyful memories of your lives together and wanting you to be happy for those times. But, it hurts, I know. I am shedding tears for you, Dolly. Not for your lives together, but for your parting. I wish I could hug you, so instead, here is a virtual HUG…. -
