Michael, please tell us about your Dixie Girl. What kind of pet was she? Will you share pictures with us? How long has it been? We’re here for you to share with us……
      • Dixie was a beautiful 16 yr old Yellow Lab that my family rescued. We had to put her down on December 10, 2020. I’m almost 17 so she was my best friend and her ashes are on my desk. My Parents paid for this so she will always be with me. Love and Miss you girl
          • Michael, you and Dixie grew up, and she old, together. It’s just a shame our beloved pets are only “on loan” to us. I am deeply sad and sorry you ever had to say goodbye to Dixie, but you wouldn’t have wanted a life without her love and support, would you? And she knew you as her best friend who will always carry her in your heart, even when you open it to other loves, which you will, and it will break again, and you will always be fulfilled by knowing you can give love, and get love in return. It’s devastating Michael, to lose a beloved pet, and for you, one with whom you have lived most of your life. If you would, please share Dixie’s pictures with us. And please, stay with us in our caring community and let us know how you are. I will be thinking of you. Hugs…
              • Thank you and I did post some pictures of her but will some more. She will always be my first love and no other dog will replace her
                  • Michael, of course no one will, nor should or could, replace Dixie. This is a sad, painful time and one day, you will have smiles before tears. I know you are already grateful for your lives together, but it hurts to say goodbye and I am so very sorry for that.

Cheryl, What a darling girl. I am just so sad for your parting. She was in pain? That is so awful, and of course you are relieved for her release from it. We always want what’s best for them, even though we will suffer the pain of having to live without them. The joys of living with and loving them will one day bring you smiles before tears, but right now, you go through the hurting with us….we know, and we care. I am so sorry, Cheryl.
                • Daisy started having seizures in Jan out of the blue she had a grand Mal seizure while I was at work and she was in respiratory distress by the time I got home. There was nothing that could be done the vet put her on oxygen but she was pretty much gone by then. I blame myself because had I not been at work I could have gotten her to the vet sooner and maybe she would still be here with me.😢💔 Thank you for caring
                    • Cheryl, You did what you had to do by going to work. Any other day you would have come home to Daisy – right? I don’t understand why you think you would have known to stay home that particular day. Are you blaming yourself without reason? I totally get that – I think we all do – what we could have done differently….but Cheryl, how would you have known? How old was she? You thought you had another five years, so was she young? I am so very sorry and sad for Daisy and for you, but I also want you to know she had her path to follow and there is only so much we can do. I don’t think I am expressing myself adequately, but I hope you get what I am trying to say. You have my heartfelt sympathy.
                        • I just feel if I hadn’t gone to work that day I could have gotten her to the vet it’s just the way I feel. Daisy just turned 13 on Dec 1st very healthy girl thenl the seizures started I was always on edge after her 1st one wondering what would happen if I wasn’t home and I guess I found out the hard way
                            • Cheryl, I’m sure you gave Daisy a wonderful life and she wouldn’t have wanted you to carry your guilt of not being with her the day she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Take comfort in knowing that Daisy will always live in your memory.

Oh Karen, you said so eloquently what is so true – thank you for your healing sentiments. They help and mean so much. How are you and your new kiddos doing?

Tyrene, Just seeing this intimate photo makes me miss her, too. There is so much expression in her eyes. She certainly is a beauty. I have a few tears for you both and hope you let yours flow freely as long as you need. Even though we know they are only “on loan” to us, the pain is deep, in our souls and hearts. But Tyrene, you wouldn’t have given up the lives you shared, would you? You, and she, were so lucky to have each other. Let’s get through this together. You see we are all here for, and with you. Stay with us, let us know how, and what you are doing.

Michele, these date markers bring strong emotions. I hope you allow your feelings to flow through you, hard as they are. I suspect that, as wrenching as the pain is, the loving times you shared, you wouldn’t trade. Tomorrow, will you please touch base with us, as often as you need, and let us know how you are. We are here for you. Sending HUGS
                              • It’s been an agonizing 3 weeks since I had to say goodbye to my boy. He was the longest relationship I ever had and I miss him terribly, although I always feel him near. Just taking it day by day😥
                                  • Yes, that’s what we do – limp along each day and feel their presence. Michele, let us know how you are coming along. Hugs…

Ann, even though it still hurts, aren’t you glad you and Kairi shared something your roommate and Teaser apparently didn’t? I think it’s lovely that you are smiling before the tears ,and the joys of your time with Kairi will live with you forever. “Just a cat” is something you won’t hear in our community – we know our pets are love in little bodies, be they furry, finny, feathered or scaled. I am glad to hear your update and look forward to more of them. We’re all thinking of you, Ann.

I “get” what you mean about Gizmo. My cat and I understand each other so much I know we speak to each other, just in different languages. To lose them both so close is devastating and you have my deepest sympathies. Please keep us updated about how you are doing. I will be thinking of you.

Absolutely! I grew up with Tiger – our cat, and Prince – our dog. They were both six weeks when we got them and both dies at sixteen. They didn’t know they were different – they were simply brothers. Thank you for sharing the smiles šŸ™‚
