Dana, it is so good to hear from you. Don’t be a stranger. I’ve read and reread your message and am very touched and encouraged by it. When my mother died, my sister and I both saw the beautiful bright light of her energy leave her body. It is beyond comforting to think her energy is still circulating. We can learn a lot from non-human animals: they stoically carry on against what some people would whine about. Little Grunt-Grunt is an inspiration. Would you share some pictures, please? We like to support non-profits that do good works for animals, and I am glad you shared High Rollers Club with us. We’re all thinking of you, Jim and Grunt-Grunt, and know Ladiebug and Bear are too :-). HUGS all around! And best wishes for this holiday season, Dana.

@myarberro1 Welcome to our community of pet lovers, Marlena. I am so sorry you and Penny parted and wonder how you are doing? What kind of pet was Penny? How did you meet? May we see some photos?

@rosiegirlandsalem Karen, I am sorry for your loss of Guias and hope you will tell us about your lives together. In Italian, Guia means Guide. What did your pets’ name mean? How are you doing, Karen?

I am so sorry, John. This must be Dozer? What a cutie. How did you discover his cancer? How long were you together? How are you coming along? It’s so hard and sad, and the holidays are especially laden with memories. I hope you find some joy in yours. Toni

Hi Martha. Checking in with you. How are you doing now? I’m anticipating saying goodbye to my beloved, sweet girl and thinking of your comments about tears – how they just overwhelm you at times. That’s happening to me. I hope you are feeling better, and continue to. Please let us know how you are.

Oh my – what darlings. You know, Michelle, I think non-human animals are much more generous about, and with love, and have a better understanding and acceptance of life cycles than we do. We learn a lot from them. That’s another reason it hurts so much when we part. You have shared, and do share, a lot of kindness and care with them, as they do with you. How very kind and nice of you.

Sheila, I’ve read your story three times and am sad and happy for different parts of it- thank you for sharing. My beauty is not doing well and it’s very, very difficult. I understand. And I hope your memories of joyful holidays you shared bring you a peace and happiness that is stronger than your grief. Paisley would want you to think of her with nothing but love and joy, don’t you think?

What a lovely and touching story, Michelle. How nice of you to share this with us. May I ask, what was the sign Sampsin gave you?

I’ve been thinking about you a lot today, Dianne. You had scheduled, and cancelled, giving George the gift of a peaceful passing, and I am in that place now with my Beauty Girl. We were at the doctor again yesterday, and the doc and I spoke at length today. It’s clear she is failing – deaf, blind and dumb now – but not clear she is actually unhappy or uncomfortable. She gets around fine, and unlike George, is eating. BUT… with all of her other health issues, and being almost 18, I do think it’s close to time to share the gift of relief and release. I’ll keep everyone posted about that. I am, like almost everyone here, finding tears from deep within at the slightest thing. Having you all here to understand and go through it with us is so very meaningful, and I thank you all.

Faithful Friends was created to Celebrate and share the love and joys of life with pets, AND to be a safe place when you are anticipating, preparing for, or experiencing the death of a beloved pet. I am straddling the phases of anticipation and preparation. It’s devastating and grueling each day as I see my darling, sweet, beautiful old girl decline. She is now both deaf and blind – for those of you who have been members of our caring community for awhile, you know her high blood pressure caused sudden blindness early this year and that. with medicine to treat that, she regained her vision. But…a few months ago she lost her hearing, and this week she went blind again. The doctor took her blood pressure 8 times today and it’s normal, so her little body (soon to be 18) is failing. Her kidney disease is advancing, and everything is just falling apart. Those tears I know come from deep within, from a cellular level of love, come on me every day most unexpectedly. It’s a form or “pre-mourning”, which helps prepare us for the actual parting. But it sure hurts. I don’t mean to make this about me. She is navigating the house nicely, eating with gusto, spending hours in my lap sharing pets, purrs and love, so unless or until she is not comfortable, I will enjoy, cherish and treasure the love and time she shares with me. I don’t want to impose on anyone but that’s why we have this community. It’s not a burden, it’s a sharing, Thank you to everyone who has, is, or will experience the deeply powerful feelings of parting from a most beloved faithful friend, and allowing us to share your journeys, joys and sorrow. It’s true – We are here for you.

Sheila, how deep, and raw, the grief is for you now. Every little thing, even sounds and smells, must trigger loving memories of Paisley, and you are hurting at a level I can only describe as “cellular”. I am so very sad and sorry, Sheila. There’s nothing much for it right now, other than to feel your grief and allow yourself to be the mess you are right now. And, these darn holidays make it worse, don’t they? When you are up to it, please tell us more about your life with Paisley, and share some photos if you like. And Sheila, I am sincere when I say we are here for, and with you, understand, and care. Maybe this {HUG} will help you a tiny bit. Toni

                            • My life with Paisley. I rescued her off the streets at 4 weeks old. My brothers neighbors moved and decided to leave her there because it was to much to take kittens with them. As soon as I saw her I was in love. She was so sunny and lived to play. She always 2as laying in my arms and my lap. When I would go to bed she was lay tucked into my side and purr as I petted her. She would luck my face and arm and I enjoyed every minute of it. She was always with me oh ya and she used to talk to me lol we would have great conversations. She’s been through so much with me. 5 moves a divorce my kids moving out. She was showed me to completely open my to heart to love and I did. She was the most sweetest beautiful thing rhat can into my life and I’m so glad I got to show so much love in the 13 years I had her. My heart is so broken and I don’t know how to move on without her. This Christmas is so difficult. I just really want her back. I just know she came into my life for a reason. We both needed each other. I’m just so glad she chose me because thinking about the alternative I’m not sure she would’ve made it back then on her own.
