Oh Kenneth…. as if the holidays aren’t hard enough, to part on Christmas Eve is so terribly meaningful and powerful with the memories. I am truly, deeply sorry. How long were you together? I am so glad you shared about Renzo with us, Randy, and hope you will continue to send updates and photos. He’s a gorgeous doggie, and as he matures, will calm down. He’s a puppy! And Randy, we all now Renzo isn’t replacing Ranger or Axel – he is a new love for you and your family, and it’s very kind and generous of you to open your hearts and home to him. My dog, Prince, with whom I grew up (we got him when he was six weeks old and I was six) lived to 16 on Oreos. Now, some people would be appalled by that, but hey, it worked for Prince, so I am not one to judge Evangelina and Vanilla Wafers 🙂 -

Not all of us have the same skills or capabilities. Even Canine Companions for Independence – CCI.org – has some dogs that aren’t cut out as service dogs. But every dog is capable of loving and that’s the best skill any of us can have, don’t you think? 🙂 -

Dana, you are a fabulous story teller. I feel as if I know Bear and Grunt-Grunt. Can’t wait to see more pictures. Oh boy, Grunt-Grunt is soooo cute – that face! I can’t even tell she’s blind in one eye. You are very special to give her a loving and happy home, and to open your heart again after such painful losses. I think we all have special bonds with certain pets, just as we do with certain people (pets are way better than most people). 🙂 Please stay in touch and have a great holiday season! -

Hi Elizabeth. What a charming image you have shared with us. Thank you for that, and for sharing again with us. Your story about Angel and her seizures, and how Gabriel went to join her, still touch me. How is Evangelina doing? I hate to say this but my old girl (she’ll be 18 in March) is now blind and deaf. It makes me think of Angel. Every day I wait and watch for the signs that it’s time to say goodbye but she is eating and seems happy so, while it’s devastatingly hard to see her decline, I am happy she is not suffering, and I cherish every minute with her. Elizabeth, please don’t wait so long to share with us, and please reach out to others here if you like, It means so much. I am delighted to hear from you again, and I hope you and yours have a happy holiday filled with joy, and LOVE. -

You are so kind to share your sympathies while dealing with your own loss, Dianne. I think it helps us to reach out to others who are also grieving, and your words of understanding mean a lot. Wow Lori, it’s been awhile and I am so glad to hear from you. I remember you lost your brother and shortly after, had to say goodbye to his dog – is that right? Gawd, what a terrible time that was for you. It’s nice that there was a happy event with a wedding for you all to enjoy. I know it’s been several years since you and Snowball parted, and I know the holidays bring back memories of all our loved ones. Holidays are a mix of happy and sad times, aren’t they?
