Sue, it’s impossible not to acknowledge the anniversaries of our parting, and I hope you have fond memories of all the birthdays you celebrated together, too. I bet you miss him each day, and hope you are finding more smiles with your memories. Anniversaries are tough and I am thinking of you with sympathy. Here is a {{HUG}} I hope helps a bit. Toni

Oh Denesha, what a sweet face, and those eyes, Ellie had. Our other pets absolutely do mourn alongside us. Saying goodbye has a huge impact on the household. Can you give Archie some of Ellie’s things, blanket, bed, toys, that he can be near? Sharing lots of love together can help you all move through this extremely sad, painful time. I hope you find some comfort in remembering the many years of joy and love you shared. Keep us posted on how you and Archie are doing. Sending you each a {{BIG HUG}}. Toni

In our community we care and share as we anticipate, prepare for and experience the death of a beloved pet. This is Walter. He will be 15 in June. Walter has a mass on his intestine and I am closely monitoring him for signs of distress, lack of eating, vomiting, etc. It is heartbreaking to know he is failing and I don\’t want him to suffer. We\’re taking things day by day. This is the anticipatory and preparedness stage – the part of pet love and loss we dread but move through, hoping to remember the many good times we were gifted with. If you are in a similar phase with your pet, we are here for you, to support you. You can share with us.Toni

I am so sorry, Jane. What a little doll. How did you meet Sophie? How long were you together? How are you holding up? It hasn’t been very long. Our next group support meeting is May 18th if you would like to join us to talk about Sophie. Toni

Barbara, what a kind, caring and generous person your are to care so well and so much for so many. Our candles are little kisses of light we send to not only pay tribute, but to celebrate the joyful times of love we shared with our beloved pets. I hope we all find comfort and smiles with those memories as we journey through the pain of grieving. How magnificent of you to open your home and heart to Apache Princess. I adopt older pets, too, and it is not easy to help them through their end of life, but it is so rewarding to provide loving, comfortable senior years, isn’t it? You are a hero and and angel. Thank you so much for being a part of our caring community. We look forward to hearing more about Apache Princess and are here for you with sympathy and understanding. {{HUGE HUGS} to you. Toni

@ivys I am so sorry to hear about Patches. Please tell us about Patches, and share some photos. I’m guessing the name came from markings on the coat? Toni

Oh Tracy, Ozzy was just stunning. And what a lucky boy to find your love and caring after his earlier life. That’s about the best we can hope for – to give them a lovely, loving life for as long as we get to be together (never long enough). I hope you find comfort knowing that your kindness and love were everything Ozzy could want. Stay with us here and let us know how you are doing Tracy. {{HUG}} Toni

Oh Denesha, so many changes for all of you. Yes, your Shetland is mourning Ellie, too. You all need to give one another more love and kindness now. Put up with moods and actions that may be out of the ordinary. And please, share your feelings together, including with your Shetland – they are sensitive to our feelings. What’s your Shetland’s name? Boy or girl? May we see pictures of both Ellie and your Shetland?

It’s been so very tough for me when my dearest Ozzy Passed away. He was German/Shepherd Husky. He Was Actually a Rescue from a family who treated him poorly. He lived his life a very long time. When he passed, I had him cremated. His Ashes are in my cabinet in his urn.

Maureen, we are seeing your messages fine. Our community is based on kindness, sympathy and understanding and any comments are made from a point of sincere concern and the hope we bring some comfort. You experienced a traumatic shock and it is understandable that you are not only grieving, but questioning what happened. Intellectually, we know we don’t have a lot of control over the end of life. We can provide a relief with euthanasia when we know of health issues, but often our pets just come to the end of their given lifetime. Same with humans. From what I’m reading, you did any and everything that could be done for Romeo. He was with you at the end, in the warmth of your love. If you can join our group tonight it may help you to talk with us. If not, please stay engaged with us here. We’re thinking of you. {{HUGS}}. Toni
