@bondgrl24 Diva. What a great name. May we hear about Diva and your lives together? See some photos? I am so sorry for your loss and hope you are holding up okay – how are you doing? Toni

Thank you so much. Last year was an awful year. My Elektra died, 9 days later my father in law died, then 8 months later my Diva passed. I’ll be posting soon.
        • Oh Linda, you’ve had a very sad and difficult year. I am so sorry for so much loss. When you are up to it, please tell us more about your babies, and please join our group Thursday August 17th. We’re here for you, Linda 💔 Toni

Jennifer, three months is not a very long time to heal from parting, but do find your memories of the fun and funny times are with you more often each day that passes? I don’t know what’s harder- a slow decline or a sudden illness, but perhaps it was good that Jeter didn’t suffer long. Helping him to a peaceful passing is the final act of selfless love and while it hurts unlike any other pain, you did what was in his best interest. If you can, please join our monthly group August 17th and talk more about your life with Jeter. And keep us posted here in our caring Community. {HUGS} Toni

Sandra, what a great idea to carry Sally with you not only in your heart, but literally ON you! Lovely. How wonderful to share 14 years. That’s the problem – our pets are only ‘on loan’ to us, never for long enough. But then, forever wouldn’t be long enough. Then to open your home and heart to little man Jax – what a kind and generous thing to do. If we can keep an animal out of a shelter, that is a major loving move. Thank you for doing that for Jax and your friends. You must be very good to your pets to have them with you for many years and I hope you are finding smiles before your tears with their memories. Do you have pets now? Toni

@queenbee82 Sandra, I am so sorry for your loss of Sally. What kind of pet was she? How long were you together? May we see some pictures and hear about your lives together? Are you doing okay? Toni

              • Sally was a purebred Maltese. She passed away in July 2018. She was the best little companion and i miss her everyday!

Brony, do you have family or friends around you? Would it be possible for you to visit a shelter and maybe volunteer to walk dogs or clean cages? Something to occupy yourself and be around people and animals? Toni

                    Those items of remembrance can help, Toni. I have a sweatshirt with my BG on it and always feel good wearing it. I touch and kiss her picture. Blankets and toys they liked can help bring comfort, too. Little by little, our memories bring a bit more perpective and peace, knowing we shared their best life and that they are now at peace. And other life events that take our interest, concern and effort take us away from our pain for awhile. It sounds as if you have too much of that right now – how is your husband? Doesn’t it seem things tend to come at once, like a big rainstorm that just dumps on you? Well, eventually things will “dry out” and the sun will come out again for you, Toni. Let us help hold the umbrella over you. {HUGS}

You are fortunate to fund some relief from the treatments, Christina. Migraines are brutal. June knew when you were unwell, when you were happy, and that you loved her back. That’s a huge hole left in your life and heart. I hope you can add one happy, fun or funny memory to your thoughts each day until you are finding smiles before your tears with her memories. We’ll walk that path with you. Toni

We DO think of you, Maureen. Trying to be positive is how we do it – one sweet memory at a time until we have a few, then more, until most of our thoughts are happy and grateful. It’s a process and only you can move through it, but you don’t have to be alone. We’re here for you. {{HUGS}} Toni

@momee Hi Maureen. How are you doing now? Toni

                          • Hi Toni, thank you for your concern. I guess I am doing okay. I have been trying to be positive. I am trying to move ahead and Im finding it hard. Life is empty without my Romeo and each day is is a challenge for me because there wasn’t a single thing that didn’t involve him. I still cry a lot. He used to be everywhere in this house and was a constant in my life and now it is empty. I will continue to try and remember the happy times of our life together instead of those last final moments and hope that with time the pain in my heart will ease.
Thank you so much for thinking of me.

I adopted crazy Lucy. When she isn’t stealing a hot dog, I enjoy watching movies with her. I am recovering from a stroke so as awesome as it sounds, I wouldn’t be any good at the shelters. I live alone with two friends, and no family. Even with this crazy cat I get down sometimes. Lulu was my inspiration, I was lost without her. But animals are the best, Lucy doesn’t even look at the walker as a weird part of me.. Don’t feel bad, at least I can talk and I’m working on my walking. I am slow at everything, but you know the saying, slow but determined. Like the rabbit and tortoise. I will keep going. God made me this way. He has a funny sense of humor.
                                    • Brony, thank you . My thoughts are lonely too. I think about you too and hope you are managing with crazy Lucy. She sounds like a handful, but, also a very special. I know having her brings you a little joy and helps with your loss.
You have a great attitude and you will overcome the damage of that stroke. You may be the tortoise, but, the tortoise won and you will too.
I am pulling for you and wish you well xx
                                      • Toni, I am grateful for your kindness and encouragement. Although, I am still having a hard time remembering happy memories of Romeo at time, I do remember them sometimes. I haven’t dreamt of him and aside from looking at his photos, I’m not able to see him clearly in my minds eye and that is disturbing to me. I’ve read that it might be because I’m still so full of grief. I am trying to get past this, but it’s hard when it starts over again every si g morning when I wake up and realize he is gone. The morning ritual is gone and is a constant reminder. I am better for sure and I am just taking more time than some to get through. But, that’s okay.
                                        Maureen

Maureen it’s because of people like you that make my days a little easier. Thank you. Believe me when I say it takes time. Take all time you need. I still call Lucy, Lulu. Thirteen years is a hard habit to break. My blessing to you.
                                          • Hi Brony, I’m just checking in with you and hoping you are feeling better and that Lucy is helping you mend. Sending you lots of hugs xx

How lovely, and loving of you Shawna, to have shared your home and heart for so long with Pickles and Bane. They never leave our thoughts and feelings, and we do miss them, but are you finding more smiles than tears with their memories? I hope so. Will you tell us more about each of them, please? Share some photos if you like. We’d love to know more about you lives together. We’re thinking of you Shawna. Toni

June sure was a cutie, Christina, and she will always be with you in many ways, especially after sharing 20 wonderful years together. It just hasn’t been very long since you parted and the pain of parting is still raw. But do you find you are able to have more and more happy, good memories each day? Ouch – migraines. That is so tough and I am so sorry you suffer those. Have you tried Botox? I know a few people who benefit, and some who don’t. Worth a try? We meet online each month and perhaps you can join us August 17rh. I think you will find comfort and encouragement with our very kind and understanding group. Christina, please continue to keep us in your loop. We are here for you. Toni

Caryn, I love the names and thanks for telling us their meaning. I am sorry your family had to say goodbye to these two little darlings, but I am happy for the lives you all got to share. No matter how long we get to be together, it’s never long enough, is it? Have you or your mom opened your homes and hearts to others? If so, may we hear about them? Toni

Kristi, you don’t have to “cope” per se – you are aching in a very deep and real way and, although it hurts like nothing else, you do need to feel it. I found comfort with a stuffed animal to hold, kiss and cry on. Keeping some of Sioux’s things around may help. Sharing with us here hopefully brings you some comfort. We’d love to have you join our group August 17th. In the mean time, please tell us more about Sioux and her brother, and share some pictures (if it’s not too painful for you). {BIG HUGS} Toni

You are clearly an animal lover and generous to open your home and heart to so many loves. Please light candles to each of them – it’s like sending them a little kiss. You can tell us more about Rocky or any of your others if you like. How are you doing today? The other Toni 🙂
