Missing my Snickers… he was my heart & soul. Just had to put him down on the 17th. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Missing him like crazy my heart is in a million pieces

We lost our Max Sunday 11/29/2021 @ 1:11am. He was such a loving little soul. We had rescued him from an abuse situation. He had also been run over by a vehicle and so he had arthritis early on in his back legs.
When we brought him home he had no idea what a bed was, how to play with a toy, that food and water were always available to him. We had to teach him so much, but he also taught us so much. Like how to love again, how to enjoy the simple pleasure of just sitting together with no expectations. We had lost that since our son died and my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. We valued every single minute with Max. He gave unconditionally right up until the end. We knew his time was short as he also had cancer but we weren\’t prepared. We miss him desperately , our hearts are shattered and our home is empty now. How do you handle this pain and heartache? It\’s all consuming and seems as if it won\’t end.
    • Lori, you ask how you ‘handle’ the pain. You ARE handling the pain, but not really …IT handles you in that the pain is not a feeling, but a state of being. I think it’s a cellular part of us, just as Max was such a deep part of you. But, the love is also a part of you, as are the memories of how you gave comfort to poor little scared Max, and he gave you such important lessons. What a powerful give and take you shared together. How fortunate was Max, and all of you for sharing the time you did. Every living thing will die – leaves that decorate and feed trees are like our beloved pets – they feed us love, happiness and make us better, but they have to “jump off” at some point, leaving behind the tree of support and strength we shared with them. As a friend says “they are only on loan to us”. It is more than painful to part, in a way that is not comparable, but Lori, what a wonderful gift you and Max shared, don’t you think? I think you and your family are magnificent – you have loved and lost so much, and yet you give more, love more, and of course when you open yourselves up, you can ‘lose’ more. But Lori, would you have it any other way? I am so, so very sorry for your parting from Max. And I am so happy for the love you gave, and got. You have my deepest, most sincere sympathy and appreciation. Please, stay with us and share your feelings, and know we are here with understanding and nothing but kind support. It’s not much, but please accept my {HUG}. Toni

ALWAYS thinking about the 2 shepherds my wife & I lost this past summer. Sad & heart breaking. We buried them in our back yard next to 2 of our other dogs. R.I.P. guys – til we meet again. Gone but not forgotten.
      • Oh Randy, how terribly sad and painful that must have been – both of them this summer. Was there and accident, or were they unwell? How long did they live with you – together the whole time? They don’t look like siblings, but you can never tell. What were their names? We’d really like to know them better, and I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your wife. I think the holidays stir up strong and deep emotions, and I hope you find comfort in the memories of the love and joys you shared. Please tell us more and let us know how you are doing. Toni
          • Hi Toni. Doing OK here. Getting back to you about the loss of our 2 shepherds. We found out our silver & black shepherd “Ranger” was riddled w/cancer & suffering only 1 week b4 going on a trip so our vet recommended putting him to sleep. We were very sad, but still had our white shepherd “Axel”. 6 days later we took Axel to a local boarding kennel before we went away & 2 days later the lady who runs the kennel said he became ill & lethargic. A few hours later she called back to tell us Axel had passed away. We cut our trip short & came home late that night. We picked Axel up in the morning & brought him home to bury him in our yard next to Ranger. We don’t know if he died of a natural cause like heart failure (he was over 10 yrs old) or if it was the trauma of losing his buddy. We’ll never know for sure why it happened but we hope that they both enjoyed a loving home here w/us.
              • Thank you for sharing your touching story with us, Randy. My sister’s dog had cancer and she made the loving, generous choice to let him go peacefully, as you did with Ranger. You were thinking only of what was best for him, at the expense of your own feelings. We’ll never know what happened to Axel. It sounds as if something was wrong with him, and yes, maybe whatever it was, was compounded by his grief….we don’t know. But I am sure they DID enjoy a wonderful life full of love and joy with you. Please always feel welcome to share with us, and if you open your hearts and home to more loves, we’d love to hear about them, and see photos. And Randy, if you read posts that move you, please share your sympathies and comfort with others – it means so much. I am glad you are in our caring community. Toni

My little guy Skippy went over the Rainbow Bridge on July 14 the 2021 2 days after his 16th Birthday. I miss my little guy so very much,

            • Oh Nancy, I am sorry to hear about your Skippy. When did you meet him? Were you together for all those years? What kind of pet was Skippy? May we see some pictures?
                • Skippy was not quite a year old when I got him. He was a stray and such a cute little guy. We were best friends slept with me and my Bengal cat for all those years. He was a Jack Russell.
                    • How nice of you to take Skippy in to your home and heart, Nancy. It’s “good/bad” to have been together do long – we share so much over the years, and saying goodbye is bitter-sweet when they are at an advanced age. We know in our heads that we shared a wonderful long life of love and it was good for them, but we miss their presence, company and love so much. If you would like to share more about your lives together, and some pictures, we would really love to share those with you. By the way, were Skippy and your cat close friends? How is your cat doing?

My 17 year old pitbull named Dipstick crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 23rd. I got him when he was 6 weeks old. He was the best dog I\’ve ever had. I miss and love him so much.
                  • Crystal, Dipstick was so handsome and sweet looking. You were together a long time (how long?) and it is devastating to say goodbye. I am so sorry for your parting and hope you find smiles before tears with his memories.
                      • He was with me for 17 years. He was and always will be a part of me. His health was declining so fast that I made the decision to do what was best for him and have him put to sleep. His appointment was on September 23rd at 1pm. But when I woke up the morning of the 23rd he had already crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I believe in my heart that he didn’t want to die in a strange place, he wanted to die at home. I had him cremated that way he would still be at home with me.
                          • What a lovely story, Crystal. Thank you for sharing this. I know it’s terribly painful and sad to say goodbye, but the years of joy and love are so fulfilling. What a gift Dipstick shared with you, to pass away on his own. That’s something we all wish for – to go peacefully in our own time. I am so sorry, and hope you are finding happiness in your memories. Stay in touch with us, and if you read a post that touches you, please extend your own sympathies and understanding with others in our community.

This is My Baby Chester. I Lost Him on Sept 24,2021. I never got a chance to say Goodbye. He Died Suddenly. The Heartache is Horrible, I\’m constantly Crying. I Miss My Buddy, My Friend, My Son. The Only thing that comforts Me is knowing he\’s at Rainbow Bridge
and in no pain, Waiting for Me to join Him someday. I Love You Chester
                        • Oh Carol, how hard this is for you – not being able to say goodbye. It’s never easy, even when we can. You say Chester is not in pain now – was he ill or ailing? We wish pain free peace for our loved ones, and I am glad with you that Chester is relieved and released. But darn it, the pain is deep within because the love is too, and Carol, it takes as much time as it takes to move through it. Little things trigger big emotions, like seeing a favorite toy, or passing where they liked to sleep…. One day you will smile before the tears with a memory of Chester. You may find “Griffin’s Heart” helpful – it’s part book, part journal and some of our community members have found it very helpful. (It’s in our shop). It hasn’t been very long since you parted and I hope you will share more about Chester, and keep us posted about how you are doing. Here is a {HUG}. Toni

                              • Oh my goodness, Rosemary – she looks so much like my girl! What a beauty. I am so sorry she’s no longer with you. How long has it been? Please tell us about her. And thank you for sharing this sweet picture (we’d love to see more).
                                  • I had my sweet Shirley for 15 years. She was 1 in a litter of 4.She had kitten’s of her own and was also a grandma. She was just so loving and I held her when she had to go.
                                      • Oh boy, Rosemary. This really touches me because she and my old girl (17 1/2) could be twins. I don’t think mine ever had kittens. Did Shirley’s babies look like her? How long has it been since you said goodbye ? We know intellectually that she enjoyed a long life of loving with you, but boy, it just hurts so much… I’m thinking of you and sending you hugs….
                                          • Thank you so much for caring about my Shirley. Yes most of her kitten’s had alot of black on them. Sadly I just lost her on September 13th, 2021. I held her, talked to her and kissed when she passed on.I miss her so very much.
                                              • There are no good ways to say goodbye but, dying in our sleep, or being held by a loved one, seem to be the kindest ways, to me. In that, you were both lucky. It hasn’t been very long for you, Rosemary, and I hope you allow yourself to grieve as you need. Please let us know how you are doing. We’re thinking of you.

I remember my Nikki girl. She was the most dedicated and devoted companion I ever had. I miss her every day

                                        • Laurie, I too had a Nikki, and lost her many years ago. She was a calico kitten who died much too young, at nine months. I don’t have pictures of her to share, but will you share yours, and tell us about your Nikki? I think we will always miss our pets with whom we had/have special bonds.
                                            • I’m so sorry for your loss losing a pet is like losing a part of the family. I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of my Nikki either it makes me so sad that I never was a real big picture taker back then cuz I sure would like to have some photos of her she was absolutely beautiful she was a Rottweiler so precious to me such a great personality loved the kids especially she was very protective of them very protective of the family it came very natural to her but she was also a very kind loving and caring companion companion I miss her very much
                                                • It’s funny how taking a picture was so different. We had to have them developed and actually wait for them to come back – imagine that! I know what you mean, wishing we had a photo or two, but we still remember them, no matter how much time passes. I have only smiles with her memories, it’s been so very long ago now……

Had to put my sweet Ellie to rest this past May. My heart is broken she was my BFF miss her every day .
                                              • Oh what a sweet face. Her eyes speak volumes. I can see why you miss her, and so very sorry for your parting. How did you meet? How long were you together? May I ask what happened? The decision to provide a peaceful passing is such a kind, generous and loving thing to do. It’s devastating for us, but you made it with Ellie’s best interest in mind and heart. Please let us know more about your life with Ellie, and know we understand, care, and are here for you.
                                                  • Toni thank you for your kind words. Ellie came to me from a family that could not keep her because she did not like the cats. I took her and said I would find her a good home well you know how that went she stole my heart and for the next 9 years she was my little girlfriend .
Sadly this past winter she became lethargic one day and could barely walk, when I took her to our vet it was discovered she had a mass on her spleen. Being that Ellie was now 11 years old we decided no surgery but my vet recommended a Chinese supplement and my Ellie had another 4 months of a good life.
On May 12 she was fine eating, barking talking to me like she always did and the next morning she was pretty much unresponsive. She could barely walk so I spoke to my vet and after examining her we made the decision to let her go. I held her and loved her and she kept those sweet eyes on me the whole time. I miss her terribly but I know I was really blessed to have her in my life❤️
                                                      • You say it beautifully. What a lucky girl she was, and you are, to have shared such a loving life together. It’s the only downside of falling in love with our pets – they are only “on loan” to us and the hole left when they die is so very deep. BUT – how wonderful were the happy times! Thank you for sharing your story with us, and please stay involved with our caring community. Others would love to hear your support if you like. Toni

This is my oldest boy named patchy he passed away at the age of 14 back in 2016. Patchy when he was the only one at the time spoiled rotten I mean have you ever heard of a dog getting their own cheeseburger money? Patchy used to get his own cheeseburger money and I will take him to McDonald\’s and he will get a plain cheeseburger and also would get his own ice cream in a cup. Patchy was half pit half Lab he had the personality of the lab ears forward lab ears back pit but when people will see patchy they would swear up and down they don\’t see no Pitbull but I\’ve seen it. Patchy used to love go fishing with me he was set back in the truck and just basically chill out. Now before I had got gangster patchy had a friend named k.c which was another neighbor\’s dog that I had to set up play dates so patchy can have somebody to play with before gangster came into our lives. When I used to take patchy to the dog park he had a thing for the tall female dogs he didn\’t care for the ones that were his size he like the female Greyhound dogs or any other tall female dogs at the park. Patchy was smart as a whip and every time you will talk to him he will perk his ears up and he will always tell his head to the left and to the right that\’s how you know he was listening to you. I used to take patchy to PetSmart a lot and OMG we wouldn\’t even be near PetSmart and he would literally flip his wig before we even got there is like he knew where he was going before he even got there. Patchy used to always jump at the door and it would be so funny because he would jump so high and me and my mom would make fun of it when I used to live with her. We will always say JUMP because we said so jump for all doggies and he would do it. Now he made a best friend with the mailman and me and Mom never knew how he knew the mailman was coming so me and Mom would be sitting in the living room and we\’ll see the mail truck come and Mom will always say get ready get ready and the first time mom would say get ready he would do his head tilt to the left and to the right but by the second time she said it he knew who it was. There would be times where I would take him outside so he can see his best friend and he would get all excited and be so happy to see him. And when patchy was a baby I\’m not sure what it was about him putting the leash in his mouth as I walk him it\’s like he had to make sure I was with him. Now how he learned how to jump was by watching a bullfrog one night I took him outside on a walk to let him go potty and he saw a bullfrog jumping to the opposite side where we were at so at that very moment patchy put two and two together and jump the opposite way from the bullfrog and that\’s how he learned how to jump and he used to jump all the time like I said before.
                                                              • I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it hurts. It’s been a long time since we lost our pup, Alex. We will never forget him. He was a good little boy.

This is gangster he is my first full-blooded Pitbull I ever owned. Thanks to lymphoma cancer I lost them at the age of six back in 2017. He was such a mama\’s boy very sweet very affection my white shadow. Thanks to him he has totally changed my mind and how I see pitbulls also thanks to him I love the breed. He was so spoiled as well as patchy. I my boys so much they were like two peas in a pod in the next picture I will share would be patchy\’s picture. Gangster never had a mean bone in his body he act like he was Mr big and tough guy but once you got to know him or he got to know you he was just like butter he just melted in your hands. He had a heart of gold and he used to love playing with the next door neighbor\’s dog named Toby. Patchy didn\’t care for Toby but Toby would break out of the neighbor\’s yard come to our house just to play with gangster. So me and the neighbor would arrange play dates for gangster and Toby and when they got together it was like they were in their own little world. Gangster used to eat cheeseburgers plan and also will get doggy ice cream. But this one time I\’ll never forget I was drinking some coffee and I have put it down on the coffee table thinking nothing of it gangster decide he was going to help himself to the coffee when I tell you gangster became Sonic the hedgehog he was bouncing all over the place. And he didn\’t have a lot of coffee he only got like two licks of it cuz around that time I had walked back into the room where I had put my coffee. Gangster follow me no matter where I went through at the house. And I remember when gangster was a puppy his eyes were sky blue and I was hoping that they would have stayed that color to have an all white pitbull and blue eyes that would have been something. But unfortunately they changed and I was so mad that did not change the love I have for him. I miss gangster so much but the weird thing about this I have a white pitbull with brown spots her name is Pinky and she does so much stuff just like gangster would do. And in my heart there is nothing and nobody could tell me that he did not come back to me as her.

                                                                  • Hi Christine. It’s easy to add candles: click our logo on the top left and add their names. I’m sorry to hear that Bubba and Sweetpea are also romping in the clouds, and if you would like to share photos of any or all your babies, we’d love to see them.

                                                                    • What a cute picture, Cynthia. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am so sorry for your parting from Ziggy. How are you doing? Would you like to tell us about Ziggy?
                                                                    • James and Claire posted an update in the group Group logo of RememberRemember 4 years, 10 months ago

Teddy was an amazing dog/son. He was a true daddy’s boy. He came from a breeder who didn’t even bother to name him. He had an amazing 6 years with us and we miss him more than anything. His daddy is planning a tattoo with his ashes infused in the ink.
                                                                      • You know, I see the resemblance – the smiles and happy faces. Was he the breed “Teddy”? I see the underbite, and know other “Teddy’s” . So doggone adorable. It’s just so hard, the parting. The tears come from somewhere we didn’t even know we had in us. I am so, so sorry for your having to say goodbye, and hope, know, you and “Bugs daddy” will find smiles with your memories one day, but it takes time. So please allow yourselves to grieve, and to share with us, and know Teddy Bugs would want you to be happy for your times together. You would want the same for him. Again, I am so very sorry, and so very happy you had such a meaningful love in your lives. Thank you again for sharing, and please, let us know how you are doing, and, if you get the tattoo, we absolutely want to see that. Hugs.
                                                                        • Hi Jackie. What touching images you have shared. Thank you. Who are these darlings? We would love to hear about your lives together, and to know how you are doing, Jackie. Toni
                                                                            • That is boo I had him for 10 years but on Sept 10 he got out and went down by the side of the road and someone came speeding down the road and hit him and broke his neck 🥺they never slowed down. My mama had bought him for me when he was only 8weeks old. And on Sept the 20th my mom has been gone a year. I wouldn’t have made it this long without him. And now he is gone also
