Barbara, what a kind, caring and generous person your are to care so well and so much for so many. Our candles are little kisses of light we send to not only pay tribute, but to celebrate the joyful times of love we shared with our beloved pets. I hope we all find comfort and smiles with those memories as we journey through the pain of grieving. How magnificent of you to open your home and heart to Apache Princess. I adopt older pets, too, and it is not easy to help them through their end of life, but it is so rewarding to provide loving, comfortable senior years, isn’t it? You are a hero and and angel. Thank you so much for being a part of our caring community. We look forward to hearing more about Apache Princess and are here for you with sympathy and understanding. {{HUGE HUGS} to you. Toni -

Remember 3 years, 6 months agoTipper was my first fur baby I lost to cancer, oral cancer, February 14, 2014, after suffering Bloat and cancer in bone. He showed no signs, ate dry food good. He’d his first surgery at a local vet. It was sent off to the lab, but it did not say what kind of cancer. Since I had not dealt with cancer in a pet, I really didn’t know how to approach it. I also had to raise the money for any major surgery. A doctor who did cancer surgeries and surgeries for the vet I used was not a specialist in cancer. His specialty was orthopedic surgery. So, to have part of the jawbone removed wasn’t really explained. They didn’t even refer him to an oncologist. I think no one wanted to help for two reasons, 1) Because of the money and no pet insurance was suggested like CareCredit. 2) He was 10 years old. But after searching for two or three months, I did find a vet who referred me to UT Knoxville, TN. The cancer was found in June, July or August and this was September. No one before made no suggestions. I did have one friend who did try to help. At UT I was told with the advance stage, surgery wasn’t likely. UT even requested the tissue removed at first surgery to try and figure out what kind of cancer, but since it had been two+ months they could not tell. Since surgery wasn’t an option, UT suggested 4 Palliative Radiation treatments. UT was about a 2-3 hour drive both ways. It would not be easy, but as long as he did well, More could be done and it would give me more time with him. So, for 4 weeks one day a week, he and I would make the one trip to UT. At the end of the 4 treatments, the tumor was gone, but the cancer was still in the jawbone. Nut we had Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years together. We were even scheduled to see a dog dentist specialist. But the night before the dentist out of nowhere, he ate good and later that night around 10 PM, his stomach suddenly bloated out like he’d swallowed a football. I got him in my car and went to the nearest emergency…[Read more]

So sorry for you loss. It is heartbreaking 💔 you did all you could possibly do for Tipper. You’ve been through a lot of grief over the last several years. You sound like an amazing, loving and kind person. I don’t know what is worse; watching them fail over years dealing with illness ans suffering or watching them just suddenly die not knowing why. That’s what happened to me with my boy, Romeo recently. Yes, he was 14.5, but, he was still going strong and a healthy boy for his age (said his Vet). I knew he was aging, but,6 I thought I would have more time with him to give him the last best days of his life before I would help him over the Rainbow Bridge by holding his hand and kissing and loving on him and telling him how much I loved him and what a good boy he is and out of all….thank him for coming into my life and saving me. But, no matter how they pass, in the end, they leave us with shattered hearts 💔

Oh Tracy, Ozzy was just stunning. And what a lucky boy to find your love and caring after his earlier life. That’s about the best we can hope for – to give them a lovely, loving life for as long as we get to be together (never long enough). I hope you find comfort knowing that your kindness and love were everything Ozzy could want. Stay with us here and let us know how you are doing Tracy. {{HUG}} Toni -

Ron, was Bobo a “Teddy”? They usually have an underbite. What a little doll. Please tell us about him and your lives together – how you met, how long you were together, what you did…anything you’d like to share, we’d like to hear. I am so sorry and know it hurts a lot. I hope you can recall wonderful memories that bring you smiles when thinking of Bobo. Toni -

Oh Denesha, so many changes for all of you. Yes, your Shetland is mourning Ellie, too. You all need to give one another more love and kindness now. Put up with moods and actions that may be out of the ordinary. And please, share your feelings together, including with your Shetland – they are sensitive to our feelings. What’s your Shetland’s name? Boy or girl? May we see pictures of both Ellie and your Shetland? -
