Suzanne, sorry to hear you’re having some issues with Kaylanee and hoping it will be something treatable like a UTI. Thinking of you both and sending extra hugs and prayers that things will work out.

      Suzanne,
I’m so sorry you’re going through this! After losing four beloved babies in such a short period of time, it can understand that this would trigger a lot of fear and bring back those painful memories. You’ve already done exactly the right thing by calling the vet and scheduling an appointment. Cats can sometimes start peeing outside the box for reasons that are treatable (urinary issue, stress, changes in routine, or even something as simple as litter box preference, they are picky sometimes). I know our tendency is to expect the worst as pet parents. Right now, try to take things one day at a time and remember to be gentle with yourself, too. Kaylanee is lucky to have someone who notices changes quickly and is paying such close attention to her.

I’ll be keeping both you and Kaylanee in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the appointment brings reassuring answers and that this turns out to be something manageable. Sending you a big hug so you don’t have to carry all of this fear alone. ❤️

Suzanne, Please know that animal/beloved pet issues are extremely meaningful and powerful in ways nothing else can be and that we undertsand the deep anxiety and pain when one of them is in distress. You are not nuts, you are strong, kind, caring and generous to care so much for so many. The stress is real and if we can be a part of the support you need, we are here for you. Our group call is next Thursday, June 18th, but you are welcome to call me. We’re here for you Honey.

Please pray for Kaylanee, she’s just recently started peeing outside the litter box litter box at least 2x that I found yesterday and once that I’m aware of this morning. She’s pooping in the litter box. I called vet and tech said to monitor her for any other behavioral changes, eating, lethargy, drinking, etc., I do have appointment for Thursday June 18 and will call before that if needed. My PTSD , from loosing all my 4 babies between March 28-January 26, is starting to kick in and my emotions are all over the place right now. It feels like a repeat of last December, the week before I was leaving for vacation, my 92 year old mother fell, my friend’s husband died the same day, suddenly and I lost my Freyja, unexpectedly on December 17. At least this time it’s only animal -and car issues but I’m
Not sure how much more I’m able to handle.

Yesterday was Takoda’s three year gotcha day. He also turned five on his unofficial birthday in late May. My sweet boy was rescued off the streets of Syracuse by one of the many fosters who volunteer with the CNY Cat Coalition. (C. C. ). I’d just gotten back from a 6 Hour drive from New Hampshire where I gone for a four-day weekend to visit my family and started scrolling on Facebook instead of preparing for bed as I was exhausted and had work in the morning. As I scrolled on Facebook, a poster of cats posted by the CNY CC shut up on my feed I have never seen a poster of cats from them since and this was the first one I’ve ever seen also, normally they only post pictures of individual cats that are available for adoption. As I looked at the pictures of each cat, a black cat named Curtis caught my eye I knew nothing about him not even his age. I just knew I had to have him because he reminded me of my Saraya, that I had to say goodbye to on January 9, 2023 who despite being in good health had given up and died of a broken heart after she lost her two bonded sisters within less than two months of each other. Despite being tired I immediately filled out the online adoption application. I was informed his foster would contact me shortly with more information. That was on June 4 of 2023, on 6/8/23, I went to meet Takoda and welcome him to his new forever home. I adopted him in memory of my Saraya, as I tell each cat, as I say goodbye to them that I’ll adopt another cat in their memory that needs a loving forever home as they once did. He’s a sweet, loving boy who likes to sleep next to my head in bed, enjoys sitting and cuddling with me and looking out the window out of my three cats that I presently have he’s my talker and quite loud and boisterous when he has something to say. Takoda was a birthday gift to myself and one of the best presence ever.
Regarding Takoda’s health and need for an ultrasound, I requested the ultrasound referral as h…[Read more]

I was out walking at Chittenango Lions Botanical Garden park, with my individual today. and I ran across this cat angel, in a small angel garden, that I thought I’d share with all of you who are mourning the passing of a beloved cat. It really touched me deeply when I saw it. I hope it brings some peace to anyone grieving. Also thought I’d share this little reflection I came across on FB.

Suzanne, I have been thinking about your questions and don’t have solid answers for you but think it might help to ask beforehand what charges there will be for any services rendered.
It sounds as if you need to find a different emergency hospital but it’s possible it would be farther away. Perhaps speaking with your regular vet will give you guidance.
                        How is Takoda doing now?

I took Takoda in for his outpatient ultrasound this morning, at Vetrinary Medical Center, which is also the ER hospital for the area. I had given him
the gabapentin, 2hours prior, as instructed. I told them if he needed more sedation, that was ok, I was willing to pay for it. About 10 minutes later they bring him back out telling me they were unable to do it because he was to wiggly I suspected they’d need to give him additional sedation. They told me I’d have to reschedule, as they needed an urgent care doctor and they didn’t have one today. So as she gave me some dates all of which were my 12 1/2 hour work days. So I said what about a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, the urgent care vet is only there on specific days I was told. Mind you this is also an ER vet and a specialty vet. My question. Is why can’t the ultrasound vet administer a sedation injection? Then I read the confirmation email they sent me and in addition to the 515$ for the ultrasound, they want to charge me an additional 186.00 for the sedation exam plus the cost of the meds, not to mention I have to take time off from work both Monday and Tuesday, as he needs to fast from 6:00 on and I don’t get home from work until 9:00 Monday nights., thid whole experience is just maddening and just insane, thst they need a sedation consult why not just ask for and look over his vet records??? He’s in good health per the most recent blood test, on May 15. It’s not even the money that I’m concerned about the insurance will most likely cover it , it’s just the face that they’re a specialist place but don’t have a regular vet on staff to help out PRN, for situations like this, because I’m sure, I’m not the first nor will I be the last to have this occur. My two Vetrinary practices are far more competent and helpful than this place is, and Takoda’s vet only has one vet that works at the practice. 😡😡😾

Suzanne, you are a wonderful person and mother to so many who benefit from your relentless care. There is a “cost” of loving that is not monetary – we pay it with the pain of parting. I certainly hope Takoda is free of cancer and that the vitamins are the answer. I am thinking of you and sending you my very best wishes. 😻😻😻
