Suzanne, I am wishing Kaylanee all the best for her dentalprocedure. -

Kaylanee had successful dental surgery, last Thursday 4/9. With the exception of her canine teeth she had all her upper teeth extracted and some of her bottom ones as well. She has an auto immune tooth disease, which when I find out more about it at her recheck appointment on 4/30, I will share with the community. She’s doing amazingly well post surgery and was eating her wet food before she even received her first dose of her heavy duty narcotic pain medication. I’m wondering if her mouth pre surgery was so painful that she’d just learned to deal with it, that the post dental surgery was a walk in the park because she’s been acting herself and eating everything I give her wet and soggy dry food. While I’m not sure she needed the pain meds I gave them per vet directions and she finished last dose today. I’m wondering if her disinterest in food, the first month I had her was because she was nauseous all the time because once she had the nausea medication injection she hasn’t stopped eating. It’s like she’s a different cat. I still give her the nausea medicine PRN. So far my fundraising attempts to finance her dental surgery, have been a total flop. I have been posting updates almost daily and sharing publicly on Facebook and haven’t even gotten reactions or comments, never mind donations, with the exception of my own donation to see if it worked via FB. I tried posting on my local Nextdoor but it was hidden because evidently fundraising is against their rules. However, I also realize that if I choose to be a pet owner, then that comes with the responsibility of paying for their vet bills.

Kaylanee’s visit to the cardiologist went reasonably well. She may possibly have a mild heart murmur but because she was purring so loudly it was difficult to verify. She does have some thickening around the left side of the heart very early stages but nothing to be overly worried about at present. Both the murmur and the thickening of the left ventricle will be monitored with a follow up appointment scheduled for April of 2027. I am also monitoring her respiratory rate on an ongoing basis and if it gets above 40 I’m to call the vet ASAP. regular repertory rate is 20-25 per minute. It’s challenging to monitor a black cat for respiratory rate per the vet. I guess the color make it more challenging to see her breathing. Thankfully she was cleared to have her dental procedure, which thanks to a cancelation will be this Thursday April 9. I think God has been intervening for my sweet girl as I got into see cardiologist and for dental procedures very quickly both due to cancellations; otherwise wait to see Cardiologist Would have been may or June pushing back her dental surgery until July or August. I filled out all the paperwork and sent it into waggle, for financial assistance to pay for Kaylanee’s dental 🦷 surgery, which could be any where from 2 – 3 thousand dollars 2 being on the low end. Serious increase in price since Sebastian had his surgery in 2022 and Ikivercin 2023. Total bill for both was about 2,000, low where. However since I just got the appointment for dental procedure yesterday and the surgery is this Thursday April 9, I’m not sure if I’ll get any money to offset the bill, with such short notice; since they pay the vet directly and the vet will want full payment when I pick her up after her procedure. It’s kinda scary financially because I’ve already spent about 2100 dollars in the 1 1/2 months I’ve had her as the pet insurance refused to pay for two of her claims saying they were pre existing. They did thankfully pay for the cardiology…[Read more]

Well, I didn’t think quickly enough to ask but it’s only 1/2 pill once a day for 7 days so I may be able to manage it. If we get to the point of an endoscopy those are things I’ll discuss with the vet. -

🎉Good news🎉…. Can the medicine be made into a liquid by a “compounding” pharmacy? I had that done and they even made it chicken flavored. It’s much easier for the kitty, and you, to administer.
IF you have the endoscopy, can they do a liver biopsy or node removal at the same time, or would that be too much at once?
Thank you for keeping us in the loop, Berni, and do keep us up to date. Sending {{HUGS}} to you, Annie and Andy💕🌷💕 -

Berni,
I’m glad to hear that Annie doesn’t have C. Cats are interesting creatures and manage to hide things real well. My Sebastian went from appropriate kidney values for his age in late July, 2025 to stage 4 kidney failure 6 months later. I will continue to pray for you and Annie. -

Annie update: her urine culture came back positive for E. Coli, not an extreme amount but enough to need an antibiotic. The main finding on the GI panel was an extremely low B-12 level. I’ll need to give her B-12 injections for about a month. I’m also keeping her on probiotics. After tossing almost a whole (expensive) box of Purina ProPlan FortiFlora due to expiration a few months ago I decided to try it.one more time. To my shock and awe she’s actually eating her food with it added, unlike last time when she practically starved herself rather than eat it. I swear her current meals are more powder than food at this point – prebiotic, probiotic, dental powder😅! If none of that puts the brakes on the diarrhea then I’ll have to consider the endoscopy. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how her labs didn’t detect the low B-12 level before, and that it could be what’s causing the chronic diarrhea, but I guess that’s better than dealing with the “C” word. The vet also said that there’s always the possibility of the benign liver nodule developing into something more at some point but for now it’s not a major problem. So I’m just waiting to get the prescriptions to start the “getting a pill into Annie” rodeo.

Happy heavenly birthday, Oliver!
It’s hard to believe that one year ago today Sebastian and I had to suddenly say goodbye to you. This picture was taken in the morning the day before I said goodbye to you. We were both enjoying some one-on-one lap time together, then about six hours later you apparently through an undiagnosed blood clot. I know your last hours before you crossed the rainbow bridge were agonizingly painful for both you and I. I’m sorry for that. I know you’ve long forgotten that pain and trauma, but it’s not something I will soon forget. I miss you so much Oliver and your sweet brother Sebastian, who died almost 10 months to the day I had to say goodbye to you suddenly and unexpectedly too. Like you he appeared fine one day and the next he was quickly going downhill. I’m glad the two of you are once again reunited and I look forward to the day When I will once again be reunited with you both, along with Kovu, Morgaine, Eragon, Spirit, Autumn Ranger,Saraya, Kalina, and Freyja. I’m trying to focus and remember the good times we had together rather than the painful goodbye so I want to share one of my favorite memories of you. When I went to do my pre-adoption visit with you and Sebastian at the SPCA. The staff suggested I do a crate visit with you both as your brother was so frightened and timid. You were sitting protectively in front of your brother, who was as far back in the crate as he could get. When I reached my arm into Pet you both, you immediately placed your paw over my arm and began to lick my hand. I knew at that point that we were meant to be, and that you Oliver had chosen to adopt me as your new human mom for you and your brother. While writing this makes me feel sad, the memory also brings much joy to my heart, knowing that I was able to provide a loving forever home to you and Sebastian, even if the time I had with both of you was way too short. -

Good! Let us know what you know when you know it🙃Ask them about daily probiotics. That has helped my cats. I ust sprinkler a little powder in their food and they don’t seem to notice. Here’s a {{HUG}} for you both. Toni -

Thank you Toni, you are a genius! I called the vet today because needed to see if I was able to get more Nausea Meds, for Kaylanee, as Wednesday’s seem to be the day she likes to give me back all her food, and heaven forbid, she throw up on the floor vs., the carpet! So gonna start being proactive and giving her nausea meds Wednesday morning with her breakfast. Any way while talking to the receptionist, I asked if I could get a vet tech appointment for April 2, after seeing the cardiologist, success! I have one about 30 minutes after I finish with the cardiologist. The Cardiologist, is unable to do it because, she’s not an official vet at this practice, she just sees patients there 1/2 x per week. THANK YOU, however, Toni for the suggestion. Ironically enough despite giving me back all her supper and than some last night, she thankfully didn’t turn down the second churro, I put her nausea meds in and she lapped it all up. I just crushed it and mixed it in. It was funny to watch her however, because she knew it tasted different. Today she’s back to eating, like normal. 😁 -

Can the cardiologist do the blood work on the 2nd? It sounds as if Kaylanee is doing better and I hope that continues. Can you ask the doctors for help with the insurance company if you get resistance from them? Keep us posted.😻 -
