Hi everybody. Doing ok out here in N.E. Pa. Big storm missed us this past wkend. We just got a few inches of snow & some wind – not the blizzard conditions they had forecast. Thank God! My 2 boys are doing well: running, playing, eating & sleeping w/out a care in the world. Ahh, the life of a house dog. I hope everyone & their pets survived the storm & came out unscathed. Sorry for your loss Toni. We grow attached so quickly to our pets & when we lose them it is heart breaking. I still grieve for the 2 shepherds I lost in July 2021. I look @ their pics & try to remember good, happy, fun times w/them. -

Hi Dana, I see your posts. It’s also comforting to me posting about the dogs we’ve lost. We rescued another shepherd last year after the sudden passing of our 2. He’s a great dog, just different. We don’t expect him to be the same as our others, it just takes some getting used to for us & our new pet. Change is very tough sometimes. We all handle things differently.

Hi guys. I\’m posting a few pics of the 2 shepherds we lost back in July. We love our shepherd Renzo but still miss Ranger & Axel. I think about them everyday w/mixed emotions & I guess I always will.-
Oh Randy, it’s so hard to look at their wonderful faces, and eyes, and know they are gone. I’m sad, too. But, that’s the deal we make going in – they are only “on loan” to us and one day we have to say goodbye. But boy, what a great gift and fulfillment for them, and us, to share loving lives together. You will always love them, and more and more you will find smiles before tears. I want you to know how much we appreciate your sharing with us. We’re all animal lovers, have suffered partings, and are totally thrilled when we see good, fun stories, too. Woof, and {HUGS}. Toni -

Hello all. I think Renzo is training me to be a good play pal! It\’s always his way or no way. Throw, fetch & retrieve! Chasing a squirrel up a tree & car rides are also his favorite fun activities.-
He sure is handsome, and you are coming along well with your training :-). The photo of him looking up the tree (squirrel duty) is beautiful. It looks a little misty and magical. Is he eating an ear of corn, or playing with it? Thank you for sharing him with us, Randy.

Yes indeed, Renzo is waiting for me to throw the stick! Playing fetch is his favorite play time activity whether it’s a stick or a ball. He will literally fetch & retrieve all day long until you feel like your arm is falling out of its socket! He has nearly infinite energy! -

Celebrate 4 years, 6 months agoWe have Renzo just over 6 months now. All they could tell us about him was his approx age of 1 1/2-2yrs old (best guess-timate) & that he came from Tennessee. We\’re not sure if he ever experienced winter/snow before, but here he is enjoying it to the fullest!-
So cute! My big puppy just had her first real snow days and she couldn’t get enough eating all the snow. She even started rolling in it 🤗.

Umm hmmm…. He is your personal trainer 🙂 I have fallen in love with him from these pictures, Randy. He is smart, sweet and energetic. I just feel something from him, as I am sure you do. What a joy. Please send more pictures, videos and updates. (I want to pet his ears)….give him some pets from me please….

What a beautiful boy he is. He has such an intense look on his face. I bet he’s a joy to play with. I miss having a big dog around. They’re so much fun. Give him schritches for me.

G.M. all. Doing OK on my end, just trying to get through this brutal cold spell here in the northeast. Luckily our GSD is home safe, sound, warm & well fed probably sprawled out & snoozing! He snuck up on my bed the other day when I was sacked out. What a stinker!-

Renzo certainly seems to have calmed down….waaaaay down :-). What a great picture, Randy. Very sweet. They keep us warm, in so many ways, don’t they? I am so glad you are doing better after your partings from Ranger and Axel. I know they are still with you in your heart and memories, and they would be happy for you and Renzo to carry on. Thank you so much for your update. Keep ’em coming. And post videos here, too, if you like.

Hi all. Just logging on to share a bit more about the great dogs who graced our lives. It\’s been nearly 5 months since we lost our 2 shepherds & I still think about them & miss them every day. We\’ve since adopted another dog. A young male G.S.D. named \”Renzo\”. He\’s very energetic, crazy & high strung but w/steady work & exercise he\’s coming along nicely & has become a great family dog & companion. Renzo has helped us through the loss of our other dogs while filling the emptiness in our home. I was skeptical @ first about getting another dog so soon, but now I\’m so glad we did. I\’m sending a pic of our 2 dogs who passed along with a pic of our new addition.-
I am so glad you shared about Renzo with us, Randy, and hope you will continue to send updates and photos. He’s a gorgeous doggie, and as he matures, will calm down. He’s a puppy! And Randy, we all now Renzo isn’t replacing Ranger or Axel – he is a new love for you and your family, and it’s very kind and generous of you to open your hearts and home to him. I hope you ALL have a lovely, and loving, holiday season. Toni

Hi Toni. Doing OK here. Getting back to you about the loss of our 2 shepherds. We found out our silver & black shepherd “Ranger” was riddled w/cancer & suffering only 1 week b4 going on a trip so our vet recommended putting him to sleep. We were very sad, but still had our white shepherd “Axel”. 6 days later we took Axel to a local boarding kennel before we went away & 2 days later the lady who runs the kennel said he became ill & lethargic. A few hours later she called back to tell us Axel had passed away. We cut our trip short & came home late that night. We picked Axel up in the morning & brought him home to bury him in our yard next to Ranger. We don’t know if he died of a natural cause like heart failure (he was over 10 yrs old) or if it was the trauma of losing his buddy. We’ll never know for sure why it happened but we hope that they both enjoyed a loving home here w/us.-
Thank you for sharing your touching story with us, Randy. My sister’s dog had cancer and she made the loving, generous choice to let him go peacefully, as you did with Ranger. You were thinking only of what was best for him, at the expense of your own feelings. We’ll never know what happened to Axel. It sounds as if something was wrong with him, and yes, maybe whatever it was, was compounded by his grief….we don’t know. But I am sure they DID enjoy a wonderful life full of love and joy with you. Please always feel welcome to share with us, and if you open your hearts and home to more loves, we’d love to hear about them, and see photos. And Randy, if you read posts that move you, please share your sympathies and comfort with others – it means so much. I am glad you are in our caring community. Toni

Remember 4 years, 8 months agoALWAYS thinking about the 2 shepherds my wife & I lost this past summer. Sad & heart breaking. We buried them in our back yard next to 2 of our other dogs. R.I.P. guys – til we meet again. Gone but not forgotten.-
Oh Randy, how terribly sad and painful that must have been – both of them this summer. Was there and accident, or were they unwell? How long did they live with you – together the whole time? They don’t look like siblings, but you can never tell. What were their names? We’d really like to know them better, and I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your wife. I think the holidays stir up strong and deep emotions, and I hope you find comfort in the memories of the love and joys you shared. Please tell us more and let us know how you are doing. Toni
