Jolie went to rainbow bridge on July 22, 2020. She had kidney and liver failure. IT IS DEVASTATING because my pop in law bought her in 2005. she lived downstairs from us. I taught Jolie how to go up and down the flight of stairs(at least 15 steps. after about a week she would do the stairs up and down. Jolie went from the pop in law to the brother in law and then to us in 2008. We RESCUED Jolie from my bro-in-law because his cigarettes were more important than Jolie. she was years behind on her shots and when we brought her to the vet they removed 12 teeth!!!
BUT we brought her back from the brink! she lived 12 LONG years with us.
Jolie had her pick of where to sit or lay down. Her favorite place to sit was on her daddy’s chest with her butt in my face!! LOL
We still say “GOODNIGHT JOLIE” every night. After saying goodnight to Libby. We got Libby from a breeder. Libby was a champion show dog who had outlived her productivity of pups. So we were the loving furever parents.
So, the grief never left us for Joile. But she is in a better place now. And we will never forget her. We have a shrine in the living room with her ashes and a painting by a friend. and photos of her. We also have a photo taken within 15 months of her birth hanging on the wall above the bedroom steps. I see her every night before I close my eyes and when I walk down in the morning!
The grief gets easier but her memory never leaves us!!!
      • Your last sentence is so true for us. Thank you for sharing Jolie’s story. I brought my cat home to medically foster her after all but one of her teeth had been extracted, and she was not doing well. We fell in love and have been together for four years. She is soon to be 17 and has a number of health challenges we are treating. Like Jolie, she sleeps with her backside in my face. I think she’s trying to “snufficat” me :-). It’s so kind of you to have given, and shared, a nice life with Jolie. Do you still have Libby?
          • Sorry, Toni, I have just seen this!
I just posted something on the REMEMBER site. and lit a candle for Jolie.
YES!!!! we still have Libby and she has settled in nicely with us. I JUST WISH she would navigate the stairs to the bedroom and outside by herself. SHE IS GETTING HEAVY for me to carry up and down. she scoots down and up the deck stairs to the backyard like a CHAMP. but not the other stairs. Have to figure out how to train her to do the steps by herself!
other than that she has become our little girl. But Jolie is still remembered when we say goodnight and at other times of the day.
            keep in touch!!!

I CREATED THIS SHADOW BOX IN MEMORY OF GEORGE. HIS FAVORITE CATNIP BANANA, BIRTHSTONE PAW PRINT RING AND NECKLACE AND HIS PAW PRINT THE VET MADE THE DAY HE PASSED. HE WAS 16 ❤️
              • So sweet, Kelly. Sixteen is very good, but there is never enough time, is there? My adopted cat is going to be 17 in March and we are working hard to keep her going. You might like to know about Memory Vessels – there are two compartments – for remains or fur, and a USB flash drive to store photos and videos, all on one beautiful pendant. You can find them in the Shop on this website.
But that’s beside the point – your shadow box is touching and I love it. Keep us posted, reach out to others of our community who are also remembering beloved pets, and let us know how you are doing. Hugs and pets, Toni
                • I love the shadow box! It’s so tough but creating tributes are comforting.

This is Jack & Willow. Both are rescues. Willow(on right side) I just rescued in August 2020 after she was left behind after her ex owner moved. Jack was found on a farm in the winter of 2013 when windshields were extremely dangerous. The person that discovered him brought him to the vet and the vet called me as he knew I was looking for another pet. These 2 are my world.
                  • Kelly, are you sure they are not related? They look so much alike. You are so kind to bring new loves into your heart and home – good for you. Send us more pictures of them. hey are toooooo cute!

I lost my sweet George to cancer in October 2020. Not a day goes by that I want to cry because I miss him so much. He was my very 1st cat and such a loving sweetheart

A memorial I made for Dexter. His collar, dog tag, a couple name plates and some of his ashes. I miss you buddy
                    • Chuck, this is so lovely, and loving. You may find a Memory Vessel meaningful. There are two compartments for fur or remains, along with a USB Flash Drive for photos. They are a nice way to keep physical and digital memories together. I don’t know if a pendant of blown glass with Dexter’s remains is something you might treasure, but Forever-in Glass pieces are so unique, and incorporate remains in hand-blown art work. You can look in the Shop area of our community to find these, and other comforting memorials if you want. Chuck, I am so glad you found us, and that you are a part of our family of pet lovers. You know we’re here for you. Toni

I got the brothers from my next door neighbor. She took in a stray female about to have babies and she had 7… A true Motley Crue (pun intended, although wrong band). They were a year old in August, and Axl, was the runt, at the time, only Half the size of Slash. Well, NOW, the rides have turned completely, and he is the biggest of all 7, and weighs 18 lbs, to Slash’s 11!
BTW… Axl is blondish, fat, and cant sing and Slash is the bad-ass rocker with the great Rock n Roll hair, of course.

Doesn’t seem to be getting any easier but I’m hanging in. Thanks Toni
                          • It hasn’t been very long, Chuck. I hope you are letting yourself cry and grieve. Let us know how you are doing.

Hello, Toni. Thank you for thinking of me. I am doing okay I still have my moments, where I miss our beloved Ava Dawn. I try to stay busy helping my family, seems to keep me from being to upset. Yes I try to help give encouraging words to other’s who are struggling. I think though with all the kind people, on here I can help keeps me going. ❤️ Sonya
                                  • I’m glad you are busy and am sure your family appreciates all you do, and are supportive of you. We have a very nice community, don’t we? Animal lovers are kind and we understand the depth of grief the death of a beloved pet brings. It does help to share your strength. I always say “Joy shared is joy doubled; Grief shared is grief halved” and I truly believe that. Stay in touch with everyone, Sonya. We’re here for you, too.
