• So last night after we buried George,my son went home and I walked around to the front of my house.I stopped in my tracks as I saw mama cat standing in the road.I called “George!” and then she was gone.
I honestly believe she kept wanting to get out because she knew it was her time to go” home”and because she loved me so much, she didn’t want me to see her passing away at home.
I am so glad she isn’t suffering anymore.
George and I have so many wonderful memories together.

Toni,Mama George has never wanted outside.Until the last week. She got out once. Then we were all sitting in the house and nobody noticed she got out.But I think she knew she was ready to go “home”.My heart is broken.
    • I am numb.I am at a loss of everything right now.I feel very sick.
I feel really GUILTY about not looking for mama cat.I actually thought she was inside with Oscar.I feel so lost without her.She would have been 15 years old next April.

      • Oh Dianne. She seemed to want to go outside lately, didn’t she? I wonder if she was so unwell, she wanted “out” literally. Yes, you feel guilty but I truly think that’s not true. I’ll share my story to tell you why I think you didn’t have a choice about it for her: My kitten Nicki never wanted to go outside. I had to pick her up and take her. One night my cat Chivo came in the sliding doors and Nicki jumped over her to get out – it was very strange for her to do. After awhile, when Nicki didn’t come in, I sent Chivo to look for her and Chivo came back and I knew, just knew, that Nicki had been hit and killed by a car. Guilt is a huge part of what we feel, but I really think Nicki was somehow compelled to go out. That may sound odd, but she NEVER went out on her own, and to jump over Chivo (who was her adopted mother) was way out of character. So, I’m not sure we have the control over their actions as much as we would like. Of course I am, and we all are, just devastated for you, and her. I know how you have worried each moment about her health challenges. I am so sad and sorry, and I hope you will allow yourself to grieve with kindness for yourself, and that soon you will find happiness with the memories you made together. Toni

        • I don’t know where to start…
My mama cat somehow got out of the house, and was struck and killed by a car.
A very nice lady brought me her collar, and showed me where she was.

        • ****sigh****
I just do not know what to do for my mama cat.She is so thin, that I honestly hope people don\’t think I am not feeding her, because she does eat twice a day.Her previous vet said she has IBS.Her stools are becoming formed but she isn\’t gaining weight.I now give her yogurt because it has probiotics in it.See the photos? My Chihuahua Princess is 11.The tuxedo cat on the right is 19 year old Oscar. And the bottom is mama. She is 14.The three eat twice daily.I live on a monthly fixed income and do not drive.I do not have anyone who can financially help pay for a vet visit, plus and lab work.
I too have IBS,so I know what mama cat is going through.I eat like she does, but then I have a sudden IBS flare up like she\’s had.I went from 124.6 pounds, down to117 pounds.
My heart is breaking because I know what I have to do…
          Please don\’t judge me.
          • No one will question your decisions, Dianne. We all make what we hope are the best choices. I wonder if you could give her to a rescue or shelter where they may be able to get her in shape, and adopted? Was Waggle.org able to help you? They may be able to pay the vet for her. https://www.waggle.org/
            • Dianne, how are things going for you all? I didn’t know you had Princess and Oscar, too. It’s nice to see all three of their pictures. Thank you for sharing those with us.

She is back home, and very soaked from the heavy downpour of rain last night.I towel dried her and hair dried her on low temperature.
                • Hooray! Poor little thing, and poor YOU for the terrible worry. Hopefully she learned a lesson and won’t do that again 🙂
                • Hello.I am quite sick feeling. You see, around 11 pm or so, somehow,my 14 year old mama cat got out of my house. She is visually impaired and it rained really hard last night. She was not wearing her collar, but had been microchipped, but the microchip expired. This morning it is very cold outside.I am not having a good day.

                  • Dianne, can you call your animal control people (our phone umber is 311 – I don’t know if you have the same system) and ask them to patrol your area? She may be under a porch, or maybe someone let her in their house. A cat of mine once got stuck in the roof eave across from me. It was terrible because I could hear her crying but didn’t know where she was. They get into the darndest places. Let us know what’s going on.

                      • Hello, well my mama cat isn’t having runny diarrhea anymore.I am going to have her tested for parasites.

                        • Dianne, I am so happy to hear your update. I think of you and George every day, and think it’s because my old girl has similar problems. She had blood in her stool again a few weeks ago and there were no parasites, so we’ve added another dose of antibiotic. She has so many health challenges….But! It sounds as if George has a single issue that may be controllable once you identify what’s going on. Just curious – have you contacted Waggle.org and have they helped you? Thank you Dianne, for letting us know, and please let us know what you find out. Toni

                          Any fun Halloween plans?

                        • I may have to make the decision no pet parent wants to make.

                          • I know, Dianne. My cats’ progressive internal disease may have become cancer and I can have her biopsied under anesthesia, and if it’s cancer, start chemo pills, but with her failing kidneys, which chemo can worsen, and other health challenges (slight anemia (which chemo can also worsen), high blood pressure and thyroid, I won’t put her through either the procedure nor the chemo. She’s in good spirits and seemingly no pain, so we’ll go for as long as she’s “feline fine”, then it will be time to say goodbye. If she was younger, not almost 18, of course it would be different. George is 14 and, sorry to say, is also considered “senior” in the cat world. I know everyone in our community is with you and here for you. Maybe George will start to feel better soon. I hope so 🙂
                          • Hi.Well my mama cat is still the same.I give her 5ml of Pedialyte every two hours. Her poop is the consistency of soft serve ice cream, which is better than it was.
I have to take a fecal sample in to see what’s going on.If there are no parasites, then I may have to decide my next course of action.
For now,she eats like a pig,but is anorexic looking. And no, I am not starving her.Mama turns 14 next April.I am worried dearly about her.

                            • thank you for welcoming me I lost my girl Maggie 1 year ago Sept 11, 2020. She was 10 1/2 yrs old I got her when she was 5 weeks old. I knew she was special because she was born on Christmas and was a true angel and boy was she!! She was a beautiful white sable German Shepherd and we were together every day 24/7 for 10 1/2 years. She was everything I needed her to be just like she knew what she was supposed to do. She was loving but also very protective and so intuitive. In February 2020 she was diagnosed with kidney disease and I Knew it was just a matter of time. I was kind of thankful for the pandemic because I got to spend every day of those precious last months with her. In the first part of September he stopped eating and got soo sick I knew it was the end, we took her to the emergency clinic and their advice was to put her to sleep. SO I made that hard decision because I promised her I would never let her suffer and I would be with her at the end. I kept those promises and she died peacefully in my arms. This last year has been hard without her but its getting better slowly. I will never ever forget my wonderful girl and what she brought to my life! Thank you for listening <3
                                • Aileen, Thank You for sharing with us – we understand the heartbreaking part of fulfilling our promises back to our beloved friends to whom we committed, that we won’t let them suffer, and what you did was only in Maggie’s best interest, not your own. You are Maggie’s angel, too :-). I don’t know what a white sable German Shepherd looks like. Do you have pictures you can share with us? We do welcome you to our caring community, and if you scroll through some of the posts here, and read some that touch you, I know your words of sympathy and understanding will be welcome and meaningful. I hope each day you find smiles before tears. I know Maggie’s birthday may be tough for you, so please….know we are here for you, and are thinking of you.

I definitely will.I told the vet’s office she is eating, and they said it was a good thing.
                                  • So I called another vet today.I am going to have Florida Aid to Animals do a fecal test on my mama cat to check for parasites. She is now butt scooting on my floor. She is eating well, and her poops are forming but soft, and that is better than it has been.
Unless the vet absolutely feels like there is something majorly wrong,I am not putting George to sleep.

I correct myself, I have seen her scoot her rump on the floor.

Well George’s diarrhea is better. It has become like soft serve ice cream.
I do not want to have her put down because I am actually thinking she may have worms. She is eating, and I am continuing the Pedialyte, not a lot,but every 2 hours.I love her to death,if I can prolong her life, I will. But if the vet says otherwise, then I will take it from there.I have never seen her scoot her rump on the floor, but I am thinking her issue may be controllable.
                                      • Well I have been giving Mama George Pedialyte to stop her diarrhea, which seems to help. The vet will determine if mama needs to be put to sleep or not.If she needs to be put down, then I have the money to do so.My issue is I would like to have her cremated and have her ashes back. But it will cost $175 .Otherwise,I have two options…have her cremated for $65 and the humane society will scatter her ashes under a tree,or bring her home and bury her.
I do not know if I am allowed to because I live in a mobile home park.I own my house, rent the lot.
I do not know what to do.

                                        • Dianne, some humane societies have funds to help with this type of situation. Maybe they will be able to assist you. Did you contact Waggle.org? What did they say?
                                          • Hi Dianne. What’s the update on George? I think of you both daily.
                                              • Well George’s diarrhea is better. It has become like soft serve ice cream.
