I just suffered another devastating loss. My sixth in two years. My beautiful Kovu.

    • Oh my, Lisa. How sad. I’m sorry. Was Kovu ill, older? What happened? Was Kovu a kitty, too? When you’re up to it, may we see some pictures? On a happier note, how is little Binx doing? Eyes still blue?

Binx was the name of the black cat in my favourite Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. ๐Ÿ™‚

Binx’s eyes look blue. But he’s only seven weeks old, so they could still change.
          • ‘Ole Blue Eyes but not for long. He is too cute
            • Lisa, I meant to ask you – why the name “Binx”? It’s really fun and I wonder if it has a special meaning for you?

I bet she was beautiful. ๐Ÿ™‚ My Squirt was supposed to be called Binx, but he wouldn’t respond to it, he only liked being called Squirt. Lol
                • She was a “Long Haired ‘Torty’ (short for tortouise)” which looks like a very fluffy calico :-). She, like three other cats literally walked up to my door and adopted me. I’ve always suspected I smell like catnip, to attract these wanderers :-). I’ll look for photographs and take pictures of them and see how they look to post and share. Are Binx’s eyes blue?

Sometimes blue, sometimes green. My friend, who gave him to me said she thinks they’re be hazel.

Here is my newest love, Binx! And he is a boy!
                          • Oh my goodness – those eyes ….. Are they blue?

                              • Oh, I meant to mention I had a cat named Squirt, too. She was 19 when she died, a long time ago (pre-digital photos so I don’t have one to share). We are excited to watch little Binx grow and hear about his antics :-). So happy for you both!

I think he does, Toni. He reminds me of him and of Squirt, who I lost last October.

I just got a new black kitten today. Not sure if it’s a boy or girl yet, but the name is Binx.

                                              • I am so happy for you, Lisa :-). Does Binx look a bit like Booboo? You must share some photos with us! I love that name – Binx – it makes me smile. How wonderful for you both ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you, Toni. It does, because now I can clearly see his beautiful eyes that were so blurred in the photo. I’m doing ok, still taking it a minute at a time. I have a new black kitten coming to me once he/she is old enough. That gives me something to hold onto, you know…
                                                    • We do know, Lisa. New loves are not replacements – they are brand new loves to share, unique on their own. I can’t wait to meet your new baby. My 17 year old cat is all black (well, a few grey hairs are popping up) with beautiful green eyes. She is so pretty, and even sweeter and smarter than she is beautiful. We had her first acupuncture today. Anyway, didn’t mean to ramble…. Please share pictures with us, and let us know how you are coming along. I recommend you listen to my interview with Reagan who wrote the healing book “Griffin’s Heart”. We discuss the places pets have in our hearts and how some are closer to us than others. I wanted to share with you the beautiful portrait Pawws did of my beloved Booboo. I didn\’t think they could do it because the only picture I have of him is low res from 2004. But they did a fabulous job. His eyes look so alive.
                                                        • Wow that is awesome!
                                                          • Lisa, thank you for sharing this. It’s charming. Those eyes ! We have two artists – April and Britta – who create one of a kind renderings that are, like yours, true keepsakes. It means so much, doesn’t it? How are you doing, Lisa?

And St. Francis asked Boo’s spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied Boo’s precious soul
And, as a cat, I am most able to decide anything for myself

Are you coming then? Asked St. Francis
Soon, replied the whiskered angel Boo
But I must come slowly. For you see, my human friend is troubled.
For you see, she needs me, quite certainly.

But doesn’t she understand? asked St. Francis
                                                                That you’ll never leave her?
That your souls are intertwined for all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is…forever and ever and ever.

                                                                Eventually she will understand,
                                                                Replied the glorious Boo,
For I will whisper into her heart
That I am always with her
I just am…forever and ever and ever
                                                                Her alley cat, Boo.

                                                                • Oh my, Lisa, you have me smiling and crying at the same time. What a charming and moving ode. How kind and dear you are to write this, and generous to share it with us. I don’t know if you use Facebook, but if you want to post it, our name on Facebook is MYFaithfulfriends. • She is beautiful. Lisa, we just today launched our “Memorials” tab where you can post multiple pictures, and share stories with us. Click the Memorials tab at the top of this page to create a lasting tribute. We will soon be introducing an artist with a unique talent to render your photos and I think you may like her work for this photo of Shetani. We’re a few weeks away from that and it will be announced in our regular Saturday digest, and an email. Thank you for being a caring member of our community. Hugs
