On January 9th, 2023 I had to help my 15 year old female cat, Spotty cross the rainbow bridge. She wasn\’t well a week prior, then started having seizures. The the vet said she was shutting down, her kidneys were going, her vision was gone and she wasn\’t aware of her surroundings. This was a very difficult day, as she was my first cat and we shared a lot of good memories. This comes 1 year and 3 days I lost my previous cat Vinnie. He crossed the rainbow bridge on January 6, 2022. I know they both are well and flying high with the angels. I look forward to the day we will meet again. Bear, Twiggy and I miss you both very much. ox
    • Oh Lorraine, Spotty was beautiful. My girl had a similar decline, including two seizures. I said goodbye to her the morning she had one in my lap. It’s a loving, kind and generous thing to help them pass peacefully, but there is never enough time together. You did a selfless thing for Spotty and I hope you take some comfort knowing that. It would be nice to have you join our call Thursday Feb. 16th and you can tell us about your life with Spotty, Bear and Twiggy. If that doesn’t work for you, please keep us posted here about how you are doing. We’re thinking of you. {{HUGS}} Toni

A happy photo taken last Christmas of Vinnie (on left) and brother Bear, at grandma\’s house 2021. (passed Jan. 6, 2022). I will miss you sweet Vinnie and thinking of you as you spend your first heavenly Christmas without us. You are always in my heart, never forgotten. I know you are well now and looking down at me, sister Spotty, and brothers Bear and Twiggy. RIP my sweet boy.
        • Lorraine, what a lovely, loving sentiment. Thank you for sharing this with us, and your thoughts of the good times you shared. This picture makes me a bit teary because my Beauty Girl was black too, and this is my first holiday without her. But, I am so grateful to have had her in my life, it’s hard to feel anything but happy for our time together, which is what I think you are feeling, too. I hope you and yours carry those good memories and are filled with joy this season. Toni

            • Oh Lorraine, what a sweet, nice and touching tribute to Vinnie. He was SO cute. How are Spotty, Bear and Twiggy doing without him? I’m sure they grieve his loss, too. These darn holiday are tough, but I hope you bring up the many wonderful times you shared often and relish the life you shared with joy. I also hope this new year brings you all lots of fun and funny times, always with love. Toni

I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand how you feel and my heart goes out to you. I lost my 5 year old special cat on Jan. 5/22. I don’t cry as much as in the beginning, but with the holidays coming I think of him more now, and have days that it just hits me hard that he won’t be here, and the crying starts. I’m trying to understand that time lessens the grief, and focus on the good times. It still is hard but I’m trying to get through this.

Hello Toni. Starting to feel that the holidays are coming. And also thinking of Vinnie more. I know the 1st Christmas is usually the hardest for me and my 3 other cats as well. I think the others have adjusted after 10 months since Vinnie’s passing (at least I think so). Not sure how long it takes cats to get over the grieving stage. I will miss the little lovebug tearing into the paper and always finds a box or 2 to hide in. As they say, time heals, and we will get through the season. Thankful, I have my 3 remaining cats with me. Bye for now.

                • Lorraine, it’s so good to hear from you again, albeit about such a sad thing – missing Vinnie. I know the holidays, and anniversaries, bring up many fond and fun memories, and that brings up pain from the first time without our beloveds. This is my first holiday season too. But I find a lot of wonderful memories. I think she would want me to be happy for the years we got to share, and remember her with total joy. I think Vinnie would, too, and I hope you and your three other babies celebrate your lives together. I also hope you will share your support with others here in our community who have parted – it means so much, even if it’s just a simple “I’m sorry”. That can make us all feel better, to share with one another. Join our Group Chat this Thursday if you like. An email with the Zoom link will be sent Thursday. And Lorraine, please do stay in touch with us. Sending you {{HUGS}} Toni

Thanks for your comments. Yes, he was a little lovebug. Always had to be near me. If I was in one room too long, he would come looking for me. He was the “Walmart greeter” of the house. His little eyes would light up when I came home. Actually, he and my other cat Bear would be there to welcome me home. Of course, only Bear greets me now, but there is always that missing you feeling. Holidays are coming up and that missing you feeling will be stronger, but my other 3 cats and I will get through it somehow.

Hi, Vinnie was 5 yrs. old when he passed. I adopted him from the cat rescue I volunteer at. He was 7 months old at the time, and I fell in love with him. My other 3 cats bonded with him shortly after he joined us. He was an active little guy and of course got into mischief. He was a soft soul who loved to sit on my knee while I watched tv or read. He slept next to me and he was waiting by me when I woke up each morning. He loved people and wasn’t shy. I’m so happy I took him to my mom’s last Christmas, along with my other cat Bear, not knowing that it would be his last Christmas with us. Like most cats he enjoyed the excitement of boxes and wrapping paper, and both cats had a ball. I have some nice pictures and memories of that time. This year will be very different, but I know his spirit will be with me. Miss you my baby boy. ox

                            • Handsome. How old was Vinnie? How long were you together? How did you meet? Holidays and anniversaries can stir some powerful emotions and I hope you remember the great times you and Vinnie shared.

                                • How wonderful of you to volunteer at the rescue, Lorraine. That is so important. I adopted my Beauty Girl I was fostering for medical care. Same story – we fell in love and there was no way she was going back to the shelter! She died this February and you are right, this holiday season will be much emptier without her. I am sad Vinnie was so young. That’s extra hard. But it’s good you have your others to share love with. I hope they are doing okay – they no doubt miss Vinnie too. Thank you for sharing your story and the pictures. We’d love to meet Bear and the other kits, too. Toni
                                  • So Handsome! I loved hearing about him. So much love.

I’m missing my cat Vinnie, whom left me for the Rainbow bridge on January 6, 2022. In your short 5 years, we shared much love, fun and know you were a happy boy sharing good times with your sister and two brothers. We all miss you sweet, gentle boy. Until we all meet once again.

                                        • Oh gosh, Lorraine, I am so sorry. It’s so hard to say goodbye, but when they are so young, it’s really, really sad. I’m sure his siblings are morning along with you. It’s good you have one another for support. We’re here for you, too. May we see pictures of Vinnie and the others? Please give them fanny scratches from me {{HUG}} Toni
